Well I’m surprised that you of all people didn’t get that one Tim! Although there were many musicians who didn’t quite make it to 28, including blues singer and musician Robert Johnson, who died at the age of 27 in 1938, Brian Jones started the celebrity musician club 27 after his death in 1969. It was reported as a drowning death by misadventure but we all know (Stones fans), that he was murdered by either Frank Thorogood (a builder working for Jones) or Tom Keylock (the Stones former chauffeur). A strong swimmer doesn’t drown in his own swimming pool, without assistance!
His death was followed just over a year later by Jimi Hendrix’s, whose untimely demise was closely followed a month later by Janis Joplin’s death at age 27. Jim Morrison’s death followed less than a year later, in July 1971. MLT have done cover versions of three of these four club 27 members and I’m looking forward to them one day doing a Jimi Hendrix cover. ‘All Along the Watchtower’ would be nice. His version may be a cover itself but it’s the best Dylan cover out there and even Dylan himself started playing the same version at his live concerts once he had heard it. I can just see Lisa coming to grips with that magic guitar work. Would obviously need to be a studio take, or two, or ten!
Of course there have been many other singer/musicians who have passed away at the age of 27, including Alan Wilson (Canned Heat), Pete Ham, Pete de Freitas (drummer with Echo and the Bunnymen), Kurt Cobain, Mia Zapata (tragically murdered in Seattle), Kristen Pfaff and Amy Winehouse, however, the four mentioned above all happened to depart this world over a two year period.

What are you doing up at 1:32am Jacki? You artists are all the same! Don’t worry about your picks too much. They don’t have to be set in concrete!

Continuing:
“So when the future has no future
And the past has passed away”I can’t help but be reminded of:
‘Days of Future Passed’ – The Moody Blues, 1967
and
‘All Things Must Pass’ – George Harrison, 1970.
And finally:
“Rock and Roll Is Dead” is the first single released from the 1995 Lenny Kravitz album ‘Circus’
and
“Rock And Roll Is Here To Stay” – 1958, Danny & the Juniors

Wow! You’ve really thrown up a challenge there Tim.
Where to start!
When Mars and Jupiter aligned They said the new age of Aquarius had begun.
“Although more rock than new-age in genre, the 1967 musical Hair, with its opening song “Aquarius” and the memorable line “This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius”, brought the Aquarian age concept to the attention of audiences worldwide. However, the song further defines this dawning of the age within the first lines: “When the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars”. Astrologer Neil Spencer denounced the lyrics as “astrological gibberish”, noting that Jupiter aligns with Mars several times a year and the moon is in the 7th House for two hours every day.”
Love is in the Air – by George Young and Harry Vanda, is a 1977 disco song sung by John Paul Young.
And There Was Music Everywhere – “I Can Hear Music” is a song written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector for American girl group the Ronettes in 1966. This version spent one week on the Billboard Pop chart at number 100. Three years later, American rock band the Beach Boys released a cover version as a single from their album 20/20 (1969), peaking at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“I Hear Music Everywhere” is another tune that was written for the musical revue ‘We’re Making Music!’
“Music Everywhere” is a song by Finnish singer Anna Abreu.
You paid your dues, you learnt your lesson So you know the stage is set
‘To Pay Your Dues’ is to do something that you don’t enjoy now (because either you feel it’s your duty or it’s the way of the world or the industry sector) in order to have something that you want later.Queen – ‘I’ve paid my dues Time after time…’
“Footprints in the Sand” by Leona Lewis
“Footprints in the Sand” acts as a metaphor for the invisible footprints that our loved ones leave on our hearts and reminds us that they live on through those who honor and remember them.Well Tim, that’s enough from me for now. TBC!

Well Bob, I’m happy with the five you have found to be the most popular. I had included three of them but I’m equally happy with ‘Still a Friend of Mine’ and ‘June’ being among the most popular. I have already listed ‘Still a Friend of Mine’ as my number 1 on Tim’s top 20 anthology album (which doesn’t include the video versions).
Of course my top five videos can change without notice, just the same as my anthology of 20 songs can change!

Yes, it’s an interesting concept of Tim’s but something I’m unfamiliar with. As Richard suggests though, team MLT would have the best idea of where the majority of their fans were based through their mailing lists. I’d imagine the places they’d find it easiest to get some interest happening would be where they’ve previously established contacts, such as California and Vienna.
By concentrating on smaller areas like this that they were somewhat familiar with, they could cut down on transport costs and other logistics involved in such an operation. I’m also sure they’d have fans in those areas who would be willing to help out with things like transport and roadie support type work. There may also be fans who could help out with accommodation.
In all reality though, I can’t see a project like this being feasibable until they first get some air play in the States. Maybe their best option for a US tour would be with another band, like their British tour with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. This would alleviate the logistical and promotional concerns of going it alone and with the right touring band may even be able to leave Rudolf and Michaela at home attending to normal business.
However, I’m sure they are aware of what their limitations are and what they can currently manage. I wonder if Steve Harley has any US touring plans in the pipeline!!

I understand where you are coming from Michael and would never endeavour to answer on behalf of anyone else. However, one of the stated intentions for setting up the this club by the MLT family was so that multiple questions on the same subject could be more efficiently addressed.
I have no problems with other members answering any of my questions that may have already been answered by MLT either in this Forum, Facebook or via any of their many YouTube videos. Likewise, I will always endeavour to point other members in the right direction for answers, in respect to their questions that may have already been addressed by MLT. Of course we can expect that the Twins will obviously still respond if they feel clarification is necessary or if they wish to express a changed or modified viewpoint, or if they just feel like it!
I fully understand that like MLT, many club members don’t have the time to engage with this forum as often as they would prefer, unlike time rich members like myself and others.
In MLT we trust!

I’m with you on your criteria for your anthology Tim. It would probably leave enough material for a best of ‘and others’ type CD. There are numbers from their 2007 concert that would be suitable, plus recordings like ‘Hotel California’ as you have mentioned.
It seems untenable that the double A-Sided ‘Strawberry Fields’ and ‘Penny Lane’ only reached #2, beaten to first place by Engelbert Humperdinck’s ‘Release Me’. It also seems unpardonable that this double A-Side was the first Beatle’s release to not reach #1 in the UK in four years. Penny Lane is included in the Bearle’s number #1 album presumably because it was number 1 in the US for a week. Very strange!
As for ‘Across the Universe’, John wanted it released as a single but the group opted for ‘Lady Madonna’ instead. ‘Across the Universe’ was consequently given to the Wildlife Fund of Great Britain by John for release on a charity album in 1969. The Phil Spector overdubbed version wasn’t released until 1970, on the ‘Let it Be’ album. Of course John wasn’t happy with what others were doing with his material. The same goes for ‘Strawberry Fields’ which John identified as his highest achievement as a member of the Beatles. I must admit it has always been one of my all time Beatles favourites and so easily transports me back to so many enjoyable periods of my youth.
It’s a great pity that such a talent was so tragically taken away from us in 1980!
We are fortunate indeed that MLT have chosen the path they have, and in the process may have sacrificed easy fame and fortune to maintain their artistic integrity. We know that with the backing they have from the super star Papa Rudi and the caring and supportive Michaela, we will always get to appreciate their music the way they intended it. We can also assist them achieve their very positive vision through our support of the MLT Club.

A nice pick Tim. Wouldn’t go astray in any jukebox rotation. Personally I’d find it very difficult to make my picks. Too much of a perfectionist and would suffer anxiety issues worried I’d left out something very important to me or included something I subsequently considered not worthy of my first twenty. I guess the problem here is they are all worthy of a top 20 pick as the Twins have no filler in ther albums. We get top quality every time with them.
However, I’ll give it a day or two and do my best. In the meantime your selection will have to do as my best as I don’t know what to leave out to include something else at this stage. As it is an anthology, does this mean it’s a double album and consequently we could squeeze in 24 picks? As it stands, my pick would have to start with ‘Still a Friend of Mine’ and number two ‘You’re Going to Lose That Girl’. That’s the best I can do for now.

Lukewarm tea!! Nothing worse! I’d much prefer boiling hot or freezing cold, depending on the season, but only if one of the twins was physically present to perform the task.
I look forward to their answers!

Well at least we have the MLT Club and its Jukebox, which is much better value than Spotify or anything else I’ve seen so far!

Hi Jerry. There has been a discussion about this Topic previously. Just punch ‘Radio’ into the ‘Search Forum’ Tab!

Thank you Mike. I understand. Probably being a little too facetious there! I’d do exactly the same as you under the circumstances. Wouldn’t it be nice to live in Liverpool with the hope that one day you just might be lucky enough to bump into one of the Wagners at a local cafe! Hopefully in such a situation I’d at least be wearing a MLT cap!

Does this mean you’ll only be posting to this Q&A site once a fortnight? Good luck with that one Mike. No, this is not the Universe or Galactica, just the MLT Club but if the Twins don’t get back to you, another member just might. You may already be doing this but I use the ‘Search Forums’ option before posting any questions as there is already considerable data already on the site. I find this function very useful.
