Don’t worry Lisa, it will be a famous name one day. By that time you just may have progressed to nurturing young up and coming talent through your company!

Why not Tim? What’s wrong with them getting more with the Beatles? That’s what it’s all about!

I too would like to hear their cover of ‘Sunshine Superman’. Yes, Lisa could do as good as the best of them on that great lead guitar break. Also ‘Waterloo Sunset’ by the Kinks. Another good guitar riff for Lisa and the Stones ‘Ruby Tuesday’, a great opportunity for Mona to shine on the flute. I could also see Rudi helping out on piano.

Almost forgot. Manfred Mann’s ‘Pretty Flamingo’, another great flute opportunity for Mona. And let’s not forget the Hollies ‘On a Carousel’ and ‘Carrie Anne’. I can just see the twins smashing those harmonies. Perhaps a studio job like with their ‘Please, Please Me’ video so they could include the three part harmonies. Brilliant! I can just see Rudi and Michaela getting the studio and video cam ready now! Can’t wait for the final product!

You seem to have things covered pretty well there Tim. I figure Michaela would be putting her business/marketing degree skills to good use with customer relations as you suggest. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was also very involved in website management as well as assisting in video staging and production and being a competent musician herself, would probably be handy in the studio when needed. I also wouldn’t be surprised if she helps keep the twins focused, especially that mischievous one!

As for Rudolf, well he is certainly the ultimate superstar. We are fortunate the two of them are managing to create an environment where the twins can shine. And that’s just what they’re doing.

Thanks also from me Michaela and Rudolf for all your efforts in keeping the MonaLisa Twins’ dream alive!

A few years ago I attended a Van Morrison tribute concert where several top singers, backed by a hot band, played Van the Man’s second and third albums in their entirity. Astral weeks was his second album and the next, a bit more jazzy, was Moondance. Prior to going solo he was the lead singer of an Irish group called Them and I still have their vinyl EP from 1965 that includes their classic song “Gloria” and ‘Here Comes the Night”. Every pub band in town played ‘Gloria’ during the late 60s and early 70s.

Graham Nash was rythm guitarist and harmony vocalist for the Hollies. Alan Clark was their lead singer and Tony Hicks lead guitarist and harmony vocalist. After returning from their American tour Nash felt constrained by the Hollies as he couldn’t get his compositions onto albums. When they didn’t accept ‘Marrakech Express’ he had it released by CSN when he left the Hollies and returned to America.

I did the same thing John without requesting signed copies. However, you can find the following information near the bottom of th Info page:

“So as a member of the MLT Club all pre-ordered albums (if stated so on the pre-order pages) will get signed for you automatically. If you want to have any other albums or merchandise signed, please leave a message in the “Order Notes” field on the Checkout page and we will take care to put our signature on the item you ordered. Please always use the “Order Notes” field – otherwise we can’t guarantee your message to be seen – and allow for a bit more leeway before shipping.”

Not sure if this helps, but admin may have better info fo you.

Not being a musician like you guys I appreciate you informing me about some of the musical intricacies. Unfortunately I have Vincent Van Gogh’s ear for music. Doesn’t stop me liking and appreciating music though.

Maybe I should listen to Paul’s album to avoid asking dumb questions. Have you thought of starting this topic again, or something similar under the general discussion thread. There’s a lot of material here to discuss and as I’ve already stated, although I’m not a musician myself, I do find the discussion informative and stimulating. By the way, Lisa and her sister do a brilliant cover of ‘I Will’ on their 2007 Concert album. There’s also a beaut YouTube video worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Very interesting to get an American slant on things. As an Aussie, my 60s favourites were British bands like the Stones and Beatles initially. Then I started getting into other British bands like the Kinks, Manfred Mann,The Who, Hollies, Herman’s Hermits and the Troggs. However I did like the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and the Lovin Spoonful. I also really liked the Turtles cover of Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’. As you say, we could go on!

Well done again Tim. I do share some of your picks like ‘I’ll Follow the Sun’, ‘Californian Dreamin’ and ‘San Francisco’ and although I was never particularly a fan of the Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’, I certainly love the Twins version. Unlike you though, the Stones ‘The Last Time’ is a favourite of mine and I find it difficult to go past their version. However, I do love the Twins cover which I think is the best live version I’ve heard of this anywhere, including by the Stones.

I’m also a fan of the Hollies and ‘Bus Stop’ has always been my favourite of all their great songs. I never thought it would be bettered but I believe the Twins have done just that and I’m sure Graham Gouldman is also just as pleased with their rendition of this great song. And such a brilliant video to match.

I’m also similarly conflicted with their covers of the Beatles ‘You’re Going to Lose That Girl’ and ‘If I Fell’ as these have always been two of my favourite early Beatles numbers and I never expected anyone else do them justice. Well Mona and Lisa, I certainly believe you have.

I must also agree with you regarding ‘Der Kommissar’ and ‘World Without Love’ which is accompanied by a lovely video. I just wish there was a video of ‘Der Kommissar’!

    Hi Tim and John

Just needed to put my two bobs worth in here. I’ve always been a John Lennon fan but as I get older I’ve also come to appreciate Paul’s contribution more than I did in my youth. I think you are being a bit harsh on him Tim. I never followed his solo career like I did with John’s but I can see that his Beatles work was special.

John, you mention ‘Here, There and Everywhere’, but there is also ‘For No One’ and ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’ from Revolver that need a mention too.

But what would a bunch of old farts like us know. It has taken the eminently sensible young Lisa to provide a difinitive and concise response to the question.

Pardon my ignorance but I haven’t a clue what ‘Fuh You’ means! Is that some sort of musician terminology?

Nice reply Jung, and very diplomatic. They do have a very special chemistry going on. ‘When we’re together’!

I totally understand Michael’s preference, being the drummer he is!

For me it’s a very fluid thing as they both keep surprising me. The important thing is they seem to be the antithesis of the Everly Brothers in that they work so well together. Either that or they’re brilliant actors.

Well John, no one is perfect and we can all be indiscreet at times. However, your apology seems quite sincere and you have shown an insight that does you much credit. New sites like this can be a steep learning curve for many of us to navigate and mistakes can happen. What we learn from those mistakes is important and can help shape and improve the communication process.

I know you advised that you don’t need a response, but I am not admin and I’m sure the Wagner family would be most understanding of your situation. To me they seem to be a wonderful family and one with many supporters who would feel very protective of them.

All the best with your band and it would be nice to hear from you again in the near future. Personally I’m a long way from everyone at the bottom end of the planet in Australia. Amazing how the internet connects us all. While you’re here, enjoy the MonaLisa Twins experience like the rest of us. That’s all the club is really about.

    Cheers, Howard.

I quite understand what you are saying about the fun thing and perhaps I was being a little over dramatic. They have so much in common but also have their own individual, idiosyncratic personalities and skills that combine to make such a great team. Much like the Beatles I guess.

I think they have a wonderful sense of humour and I like that they are so grounded and don’t take themselves too seriously. You mention that someone on this board has suggested that Lisa might be the more mischievous of the two. Well I could be wrong but I have this feeling that Mona just might be the more mischievous.

This feeling comes from viewing their first few videos, where Lisa seems a little more serious and Mona just a little bit cheeky! In one of their Q&As they were asked which one was the evil twin and they pointed at each other, so no help there. Maybe this is a question better answered by Rudolf and Michaela.

Well Tim, I didn’t think anyone would venture into such sensitive and controversial territory so early in the establishment of the MLT club. John was always my favourite Beatle although I did appreciate Paul’s contribution, especially when he and John were writing together. His bass playing was excellent and greatly enhanced their live performances.

Lisa is also a John fan and like you, I love her lead guitar work and now ukulele playing. Her lead vocals are also strong and sincere. They so remind me of John.

Mona for me is more the Paul type. A bit more reluctant than Lisa to come forward initially but I have noticed that changing through their career. They harmonise just so well together I can’t think of them apart.

Too early for me to pick a favourite as every time I watch their videos, right from 2007, my opinion changes. Whenever I’m watching/listening to Lisa, she’s my favourite and when I’m watching/listening to Mona, she’s my favourite. When I see the two together, having to make that kind of distinction would just do my head in. For now I prefer to sit back and enjoy the twins as the fabulous unit they are.

Sound like a cop out? Well now if I had the wisdom of Solomon …!
