We’ve had a Duo Session cover from Revolver with “Good Day Sunshine”. The track that follows it on the second side of the album would also make a great Duo Session cover.

Maybe the Twins are busy working on their next project Brian. Perhaps we’ll learn more with this weekend’s MLT Club Wire.

Brilliant David! I’m looking forward to that parody of your own song. Why don’t you post your lyrics via this Forum thread. I’m sure MLT Club members would like to see them too.

Well you’re not alone in the out of work department Jung. I imagine the unemployment situation is going to get much worse before improving. Some businesses are lucky though. Anything to do with health care, policing and security are doing well, along with politicians and most public servants I guess, and the big supermarkets are doing okay too.
Not so good for the restaurant/cafe business although most are managing to get by on skeleton staff with takeaway and delivery services. Anyone involved in the travel and tourism industry is in trouble. Hotels, holiday resorts, airlines, boat cruisers etcetera.
Times would also be tough for musicians who depend on concerts, local live venues and tours for a living. We are very fortunate the MLT have a business model that allows them to survive and probably thrive in times like these.
Can I ask what type of work you were involved in, not marketing by any chance?

Kath and Kim comedy favourite Sharon Strzelecki has returned to the airwaves with a special shout-out to Australia’s health workers battling the coronavirus outbreak.
In the tribute, Sharon’s alter-ego, comedian Magda Szubanski, leads health and emergency workers in a video version of Soft Cell’s Tainted Love with a COVID-19 spin.
Szubanski – who wears Sharon’s signature netball garb – has changed the words “tainted love” in the song to “COVID bug”.
Workers from Melbourne’s Footscray Hospital and Prahran East Medical Centres, Ambulance Victoria and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital co-star with Szubanski in her tribute to medical workers on the front line of the pandemic fight.
“Noice, strong, courageous,” she wrote.
“A special Sharon shout-out to all our healthcare workers, on the front line and behind the scenes. To paraphrase Sir Elton John: I know it’s not much, but it’s the best I can do. My gift is my dance and … this one’s for you.”

Yes Jacki, my condolences too. I know that right now all I need to do to put a smile on my face is to play Mona and Lisa’s “Pretty Flamingo” duo session.
David, that grandfather of yours has a very strong constitution to have lived through the 1918 flu pandemic, two World Wars, the Great Depression and the Cold War. With a little luck, you will have inherited his genes.

Yes Michael, “Still a Friend of Mine” is such a great song.
More of my favourite lyrics are:
Oh, sweet Lorraine
A pretty nice girl with a touch of insanity She’s not to blame
Cause love is such a pity
Love is such a tricky
Love is such a deadly gameI wonder how the world would be
If everyone could see what you could seeThat’s what you get
You better not bet that it’s always Coming up roses
Life, give it a chance
Get up and dance and romance Before the book closesThere is pleasure after pain There is sunshine after rain
Here I go, I’m on my way I am searching for a song That makes me smile

Hi Josh. All the best to you too. Just how good was Mona and Lisa’s latest Duo Session? Bound to cheer up your patients. Puts a big smile on my face every time I play it.

Excellent selection there David. You are showing quite an in depth knowledge of MLT songs. ‘Close to You’ is a beautiful song too, Jung, with great lyrics.
I forgot to mention my ’why’ regarding my first pick of “Count On Me”, which I understand was written (commenced), by candlelight during a blackout. I believe Lisa was feeling a little vulnerable and insecure in the darkness and put her feelings into words. At the point where she got stuck with her lyrics, she went to her father for help. Papa Rudi penned the words which became the chorus and gave the song its title.
I thought it was poignant in that it shows a father’s unconditional love for his daughter.

Good one David, and very timely, as unfortunately the hills are now closed!

Now that’s a tough one Jacki, as like with all their music, the favourite can change from day to day. However, to kick things off, I’ll go with probably my all time favourite, “Count On Me” from the Orange album with Lisa’s lyrics –
“Sometimes I throw a stone into the darkness
Just to see what sound it makes
I listen closely when it hits the surface
It says a little trust is all it takes”And what I believe is Papa Rudi’s chorus response of:
“No matter how many turns a river makes
It will always meet the sea
No matter how many times a promise breaks
You can always count on me
As time will go by you’ll see
You can always count on me”But of course, the rest of the lyrics in this beautiful song are just as good. Give it another listen, you’ll see what I mean.

Hi Robert. Nice to see you joining this fabulous Club and offering such a detailed introduction. I too was blown away that memorable night I discovered the MonaLisa Twins and could not understand how they could have been around for so long without me knowing. Seems a total travesty that they are not known throughout the world like the Beatles themselves were.
