In full agreement… This is by far my fave rendition of this Xmas Classic??

Hi… I’m going to be inclined to agree with Jung and accept his rationale on why this particular song/movie/book is obviously not as well known to all, as perhaps previously presumed (or whatever the correct wording is for this is, “presumed” is what came to mind but maybe another better word is out there to describe what I’m trying to convey/express) stated, I’m not a fan of classical music as such and therefore, I’d have no idea of its existence… But as per the way of things here, we All have our own opinions and can respectfully disagree /agree… I don’t believe in one opinion suits /fits all… We are all have equal say.
I just am finding it a tad humorous (in my view, anyways) how it is that some are flabbergasted at the thought that not all here were aware of this song /movie/book to begin with and hearing MLT’s version was a Groovy musical awakening, it strikes me as it was the consensus/thought that all here were aware of it but it’s clear now that that is not the case but it’s a beautiful discovery that I’m happy that Team MLT provided for to embrace and appreciate it thereof…

They sell also outside in Byward Market here during Summer months.

Member16/11/2019 at 18:46 in reply to: Black Guitar in "Knocking on the Heaven Doors"?An update to my craft show visit of guitar like vendors Sightings… The one vendor was handmade wooden 3-4string dulcimers while the other one was handmade wooden mandolin type instrument.

To be fair, like Paul, though Canadian, I agree, I think this song is not as familiar to North Americans( USA & Canada) as it seems to be amongst Europe and elsewheres… I don’t recall ever hearing this song or seeingbthe movie it is from… I do recall other Christmas specials I saw as a kid back when that I still enjoy, but am happy that MLT’s version introduced it tothose of us who were not familiar with it.

Member15/11/2019 at 23:02 in reply to: Black Guitar in "Knocking on the Heaven Doors"?Hi… Today while I was at a Xmas craft show… I saw a couple of artisans booths/vendors that had homemade crafted stringed guitar like instruments, couldn’t get a real close up looked as place was sardine packed…. I’ll have a look later at the crafts how program booklet I got that lists all the vendors… But what I did get to see a bit more closely and found interesting, was the hubby of a friend (who was selling their awesome reusable wallets, etc made from chipbags, choco bar wrappers, softdrink/pop bottle labels, etc at craft show), and had his headphones but was playing thisv6-12string Traveler’s Brand Classic Guitar…. A nice rectangular portable compact size that has no knobs or frets… You fingerpick he told me… I thought that was cool and interesting….

Thankyou once more Howard for supplying your input of the info about Barry ‘s involvement history of song… I had learned of this fact years ago and for awhile was in touch with Barry via email.
Sidenote **… Nice to know that you have redeemed me not being crazy or imagining that I had thought someone else had a version of Cali – Dreamin out around the time M & P did?☮️
**David–You learned your new thing today : The Barry Mcguire version /M&P connection always be open to learn new things, because who knows, perhaps one day might come in handy for a Quiz… Good info to store away in mind for a rainy day, a quiz…

David: I was aware already of John and Michelle writing “California Dreaming” … Lol… But appreciate you letting me know…
Aha…. before I go off to bed … It was bugging me to recall who recorded “California Dreaming” first of whom I didn’t care for the version of and looked it up… Barry Mcguire… Now I can go to sleep with peace of mind and not go crazy in trying to figure out who it was… Lol… Goodnight Eh to all….

Lol… While you are are on The M&P’s theme of things here on this thread posting….
Let me say it was MLT’s version of “California Dreamin” on YT that I happily discovered 12-13yrs ago, while I was curious to see if there vwas a half decent cover made… Damn… Was I ever impressed, right then and there decided to become Lifelong MLT fan…. by the way, in my opinion, I equally respect both Mamas and Papas and MLT’s versions while I do not like the Beach Boys or whoever’s it was that made the original… It simply does not cut it for me at all, sorry to say…. Or am I thinking of another song that BBs/whomever did originally but M&P’s cover fared far more better…?!… At any rate, I love both CaliDreami versions from MLT/M&P equally…
Can you tell I’m a M&P /Cass Solo/Denny solo fan… Lol?!

Well… Just to spice things up a little… In the genre of old school country music, I could definitely see MLT put their spin on Dolly Parton’s Jolene…. Anything by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline (Patsy’s music did crossover into pop/jazz genres and very versatile was her voice…. I can see them even doing Roy Orbison…. Linda Ronstandt… MLT’s vocal versatilities allows them to take any song, give it their own touch….. In my opinion, they can do practically any music genre, as once they ‘ve set their mind on a song, it’ s full MLTBuzzing Groovy Ahead… Lol?

Good one David….
Well, my fave Canadian rock band: Glass Tiger whom I’ve been a fan of since my teen yrs and have met them many times and they know me by now… Lol… And next to MLT, my 2 all time Lifelong Fan Fave Bands….
Glass Tiger have done a few awesome Beatles covers during their live gigs, and Alan Frew, lead singer, did in my opinion, an equal version to Beatles original on “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”on a solo album he had done a few yrs back.
I agree, in many covers MLT have bettered and/or equalled the originals, at least for me, I think as such.

Of course… You know that they’d offer up their own MLTBuzzGroovy rendition… It’s classic… I LUV it as my all time Fave Santa Baby song version!!

Lol@ both Howard and Jung… You are both complaining it’s cold… Damn… That’s nothing.. Try this morning’s temp here in Ottawa with windchill…. – 26ish degrees Celsius… Yesterday was cold too not that cold of – 26 ish but cold enough and apparently for mid November here, we’ve now shattered 3 weather records… I’m just Thankful it was not that Frikkin insane cold on Remembrance Day where some vets braved the cold as it was to be in attendance for the outside ceremony at the The National War Memorial Downtown…. Winter and I don’t get along… My ideal Winter would be one day, on Xmas Day and resume back to summer…. I’m a Spring/Summer Gal for the warmth…. Maybe down the line, I’ll treat myself to an MLT Hoodie… In the meantime, I’m enjoying Tea, Hot Choco with Marshmallows and cranking Xmas MLT in my headphones through CD Discman, Android Ta let, Android Phone!!
