13 years more until I’m 64, though sometimes I feel nearing 100…I have a Great Aunt ( late Grandma’s baby sister, youngest of all of the siblings, Gram included) who recently just turned….106, still very much keen mindwise, mobility not the best, and fewother minor issues but overall, looks to be in early 90s… have spoken to her on phone 2x now during pandemic, doing well , safe.?✌

Until the MLT version of ” Walking In The Air” was on their Christmas CD, I was not familiar with it, I thought it was an original of theirs until I found out otherwise…lol…I Love it so …!!

Once again, yesterday and today (Saturday still in Canada), I’ve noticed the same issues were occurring again on/off with video link posting/photos stretched looking/ and the area where you would type in post goes greyish and the text barely visible when one types….in the Forum area…is it because of video link file sizes, too many video links posted causing this or something else that’s possibly WordPress functionality related !? Just wanted to let you know it had occured again.

Groovy to all replies on this topic I started as well…
David, it’s not that no one forgot/thought of Karen Carpenter yet, its just that you happen to be the one to think to go ahead and post… I could of mentioned her and expanded my original listing on my initial posting in this topic but didn’t feel right to overwhelming all of you with a long list of all the vocalists I know of, but Karen and most others mentioned here so far with exception of a few unknowns to me would of been mentioned by me. I wanted to let others have a chance to post most likely similar /same ones of my choices …lol

Wow, I think Elizabeth Cotten, may be the pioneer for lefthanded guitarists, and as you said even using a right handed guitar, my guess is, at the time, left-handed guitars, weren’t thought of at that point or if so, hard to come by, perhaps by early 50s, lefthanded guitars were created/ became available…but not sure on that, still a feat in itself, to play something awkward, not natural for you but yet you make it work….where’s there’s a will, there’s a way…!!

It sure does David, and the duet she did with Tony Bennett

I agree David….the more I think, the more that come to mind, and as you’ve groovily put it, about Janis Joplin, it is true, if not vocally powerful, it’s made up for in conveyance dept…
Some more I’m thinking of:
Stevie Nicks, Susan Jacks, Linda Rondstat,Anne Murray, Dottie West, Kitty Wells, kd lang, Emmilou Harris, Skeeter Davis, Bobbie Gentry, Lena Horne, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Marla Gibbs, …etc

In order to slowdown this posting from starting to go off topic from being specifically intended on Female Guitarists/Bassists, I’ve now created a Female Musicians Vocalists topic posting to where you can share your considerations on who your female musician vocalists are, in their own specific category…

I echo Jung’s sntiments, I have both Wayne’s World movies ( original and it’s sequel on VHS/DVD, yes, that car scene that Jung refers to, is one of my fave all time scenes from the movie… I was introduced to Queen’s music compliments of my 2nd oldest brother. One of a kind sums them up definitely.
