I just checked and it comes up in a search for “The MonaLisa Twins.”   I know I couldn’t find it several weeks ago when I first tried.  I may have typed it wrong or it might be new. It’s very current and says it was last edited 5 days ago.  It links in with the “Best Years” song and with “I’ll Be Back”.  Two of my top 5 favorites.

I’ve had the same issue for the last few days.  I was trying to find a post someone made on video editing software and received the same response Howard mentioned.   No matter what I tried or what password I entered it came up with the same result.  Happened on both my IPad and Windows computer.

Just listened again and checked the lyric book here.  It is “maids.”   Listened to Steve Harley again and I guess he says “maids”, but it sounds more like “mates” to my ears.  It just kind of intrigued me because I didn’t know the song and Mona’s words didn’t seem to match the copy of the lyrics I had seen.   I just chalked it up to the accent I love so much.  It actually sounds kind of cool to me when it sneaks through sometimes.  Reminds me of my Austrian ski coach when I was younger.

Checked Wikipedia to see if there were two versions and who the writer was.  It says Steve Harley of course.  I was excited to see that the article mentions Mona and Lisa’s version and their tour with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.  I enjoy the various videos there are of that joint performance.  It looks like it would have been a great show to see.   Just saw the twins listing in Wikipedia also.  I’m glad to see it there.  I looked some time ago and either missed it or it wasn’t there yet.   I hope the listing helps some others find the treasures they share with the world.

Ok, I made a mistake.  I trusted the internet.  I had looked up the lyrics some time ago and then when I saw the lyrics to the MLT version, they were different.  The site I had gone to was genius.com and it states the Steve Harley lyrics are as I mentioned above.  I had never heard him sing it, so I just played a YouTube video from ten years ago with him singing it and it sure sounds to me like “European maids.”  So either the internet lyrics site was wrong or he has sung it different ways???    I prefer to think he had a premonition of two incredible European sisters that would rock the music industry.  🙂

  • Well said.   I agree.  I hadn’t listened The Beach Boys much in a long time and after hearing Mona and Lisa’s version I went to listen again.  I gained a new or renewed appreciation for The Beach Boys harmonies but there is a softness and beauty to Mona and Lisa’s harmonies that is amazing.  Their musical ability in each of their songs easily equals and usually exceeds the originals.  The same is true for the Beatles covers also.  I didn’t truly appreciate the harmonies of the Beatles.  I just knew I loved them.   Then the versions of Beatles songs the Twins did stood out to me as remarkable.   I went back, listened and gained an huge appreciation for the “Fab Four’s” abilities and harmonies.   Yet, I think the Dynamic Duo is wonderful.  I think Mona and Lisa can do justice to any song out there.

Lisa has already made the Gretsch Duo Jet famous to me.  I just about bought one the other day and will soon.  I’ve been looking around for one with a little history to it.  I missed out on the best of the guitar sales of Chad and Jeremy’s guitars but I’ll find something interesting.  Some day I can see people bidding on Lisa’s guitar – maybe at Sotheby’s or Christie’s.   I’ll be there bidding on it and on Mona’s drums.  I miss my Ludwig’s.  Sadly I traded my drums for a motocross bike years ago.  My back would have appreciated if I kept the drum set and had sold my skis for a guitar.  A much less painful life and much less noise for my poor neighbors 🙂

Angelo, on YouTube I ran across a company back east in the US that specializes in restoring and getting data off of crashed Iphones.  Seems the owner had all of her vacation pics dropped in a lake and every Apple outlet or person said there was no way she could recover the data and she just had to buy a “New” phone.

I don’t remember her background, but she is an engineer or something and learned how to restore her phone and then developed a very reasonable priced cottage industry helping others restore data, photos, etc.  If I can find it again, I will post some specifics:)

I love “Starman.”  I had never heard the Bowie version, so it was new to me.  The music, the video, the ambience.  Amazing song and performance.  I’m so grateful for the way they bring great songs to the world – old and new.  I had never heard of “The Best Years of Our Lives” or “Cockney Rebel” and I absolutely love that song now.  Their magic touch they add to songs is incredible.   Their songs and videos are a treasure.

I’m glad there is this forum too.  I had been so taken with their cover songs and videos, I hadn’t spent much time listening to their originals.  First “I Don’t Know Birds that Well” jumped out at me from the video.  Wish my uncle the Ornithologist was still around so I could play it for him.  There was a discussion a couple weeks ago about “Count on Me” and now that is one of my favorites.

As much as I would love to see them cover certain songs, the songs they choose like “Starman” turn out spectacular.  Lanzarote is now towards the top of my bucket list 🙂

  • God Only Knows is in the top 5 of my playlist.  Mona and Lisa do such an incredible, beautiful version.  The Beatles and Beach Boys have some great harmonies, but their great songs are better as far as I’m concerned with the beautiful voices and harmony of the twins.  Songs that I overlooked or forgot have become new classics.  One of the best concerts I have ever been to was the Beach Boys in an outdoor venue.  Went up on my Goldwing and drove right by an hour plus traffic jam then hooked up with some friends that had actually camped out overnight.  A great show to be on the first row.  Still I’d trade if for a show at the Cavern Club with MLT a few years ago.

That’s a difficult decision.  I love them all.  Awed by their talent.  The one that first jumped out to me was “Ain’t No Sunshine”.  All were great.  I was already impressed by Lisa’s guitar work, but then to see Mona on the drum solo was a real treat.  I played the drums at that same age and was stunned by the talent she already had and loved the joy she showed doing it.  Add Rudi’s keyboard solo and to me that song is a real treat.

“I Will” and “Love is all Around” jump out too.  A couple of my favorite songs.  And yes, “Twist and Shout” and “Samba Ti” were wonderful.  I was at an “Oldies Fest” some years ago and just kind of ended up on about the 5th row of a Santana performance.  I’d rarely seen a show like that.  Wow.   But I’d trade it for a time machine to go back to the Cavern Club a few years ago and hear the MonaLisa Twins.

Nice Jacki.   The music of Mona and Lisa can be quite inspiring.   I’ve had in the back of my head for weeks what room I could clear out to restore myself my Ludwig drum set.  I had never been sad that I sold my drums for a motorcycle until recently.   And I’ve been researching guitars to get started with that.  Kind of makes me wish I had pursued music instead of destroying my back and knees in freestyle skiing and motocross racing.  Sadly only our cat played the piano in our house.   She walked across the keys to get up and down from the window sill – while I was in the next room hobbling around the pool table with one of my broken arms or legs from skiing.   I should have used my “down time” with injuries to learn music instead.

Thanks for all of your posts.   I love your enthusiasm and positive attitude.  Seems like I saw something saying you are from Canada.  I assumed Eastern Canada.   I spent a couple years in Alberta and loved it.  Wonderful country and wonderful people.

Whereas the true smiles of Mona and Lisa Wagner are beautiful beyond anything Rembrandt may have ever seen.  It brings joy just to see their smiles.  Then their music and voices put it over the top.  Rembrandt might have been too mesmerized to even paint 🙂    I can picture him warching one of their videos like  “I’ll Follow the Sun” or “I’ll Be Back” in stunned silence just saying the word “Wow”.

When he recovered he would probably paint Mona’s smile after playing the Flute on “I’ll Follow the Sun” and Lisa’s smile and head tilt while playing the bass at the end of “If I Fell”.   Those would probably have ended up as his most beautiful and famous paintings.

Thanks so much.  It works a great deal better.  One possible tweak might be needed.  Not to be picky.  It works great for the first page of results.  If there is a second page of search results, it goes to the same password protected screen that doesn’t go any further.

Not that I’m obsessed with searching.  I was looking for one particular item.  I think it might have been a reply by Lisa regarding a list of some of the video/audio editing software, but I just can’t find it.  I haven’t needed video editing for years and everything I have is incompatible with Windows 10.

I have a group of 14 DVD’s  of a seminar I gave years ago that I want to enhance and then cut into smaller files for YouTube.  Also, both my sister and brother have cancer and I wanted to get all the old family movies enhanced and viewable by them and their families.

Have a great day.   Thanks,   John Behle

  • I agree.  I just listened to Ruby Tuesday again and it would be a great song for Mona and Lisa to do.  Adding their skill, charm and harmonies to this classic would be wonderful.

OK, I’ve just had my mind corrected.  Yes, I love the songs I mentioned, but somehow must have skipped over “Samba Pa Ti” before since I didn’t really know the song.  Amazing guitar work Lisa!  Listening to the Santana version right now and the version the twins did was great.  Thanks for pointing that video out again.  What incredible talent.
