Happy Birthday! You deserve an incredible birthday. I’d sing you a birthday greeting but that might be more cruel than kind. I can’t share the gift of music, but if you ever pass through Utah I’ll treat you to some freestyle mogul or deep powder skiing and dinner for your family at the restaurant of your choice. That’s probably a very remote possibility so maybe it’s going to need to be a Liverpool location.

Happy Father’s Day to Rudi and belated happy Mother’s day to Michaela ( I hadn’t started posting yet )

Thanks Michael for mentioning “Summer Song” by Chad snd Jeremy.  I knew the song but didn’t place the name.  When you mentioned it, I tracked it down and love listening to it.  I agree with you, it would be a wonderful song for Mona and Lisa to do.  Their beautiful voices and harmony would put new life into a great song.

I can’t imagine anything the twins attempted they wouldn’t be good – excuse me AMAZING – at.  Even the cooking show sounds hilarious to me.

I kind of just play my favorite songs and videos over and over then stumble across new covers (to me anyway) or new songs that I love.  I hadn’t heard “the Night Before” until recently and again the beauty of their voices takes a good song and makes it better.   It’s my vote for a new video.  I listen to the music, but much more often have the videos playing in the background while working, etc.

Each new song, video, etc. just keeps “Getting Better”.

Just received a birthday message.  That is so cool and groovy.  Knew it would be wonderful – as everything Mona and Lisa create – BUT personalized!  Wow, that was really kind.   It’s so rare these days and confirms the incredible people they are.  I’m kind of new to the world of being a “fan”.  Sure, as a kid I had some skiers and motocross racers I was a bit of a fan of and met and skied with a large portion of them, but this is a bit different.  Like many here I haven’t had much appreciation of most of the modern music

All of this might be a little amplified by my German and Austrian ancestry and a trip I’m planning that should take in Salzburg in Austria and Versmold in Germany and a few castles along the way.

I had a relative and his daughter drop by after her guitar concert and we ended up spending most of the time talking about Mona and Lisa and showing them some YouTube videos of my “friends” from Austria.  It just kind of popped out that way and any other term wouldn’t have seemed to fit.  It just seemed really odd and presumptuous to call someone a friend  that I have never met and doesn’t know me, but would almost seem more odd to use another term.

I guess their incredible skills and personalities catch others as quick as they did me.  My relative texted me their “If I fell” video a few minutes later with the words …..

    “Amazing!!!” “I want their songs.”

So heading to place an order for him in a minute.

Ron Grainer from Australia is listed as the composer and it says it was a Harpsichord.

All the information on guitars is quite interesting.  About the same time I was reading this I came across a video of a “Gibson and Fender Duel” of “Layla” on YouTube that was really enjoyable.  It would be wonderful to see Mona and Lisa do something similar.

I love all their videos, but especially when they are rocking the live performances and their incredible skills.

I was going to mention that the next couple videos of the song had another 20 million views.

Excellent suggestion Howard.  I watch that “I’ll Never Find Another You” almost as often as MLT videos.  Every time I think of what an amazing job they could do with the harmonies and guitar. It could be so cool or should I say “groovy”.

Every video I watch with the idea of how would Mona and Lisa do an incredible job with it.   Then I step back and look at the Lyrics and message.  This song has an upbeat positive message that would go well for them.

Wouldn’t hurt that that particular video has over 22 million views in two years.  When I searched for it just now I entered the letter “I” into the search and it popped up as the first result before I even typed other letters.

Part of what’s great about MLT is the love they have for their music and the joy they share, so I would think their choice of videos and songs have little motivation or thought regarding specifically attracting new fans or friends.   But can’t we have both?

I feel so fortunate that a Beatles search led me to MonaLisa videos and would love to see others discover them also.   I kind of hesitated to click at first.  I didn’t want to see someone do a bad or mediocre version of the Beatles, but once I watched that first one I was like a fish caught on a hook.

“Wipeout” by the Safaris.  That was the song for a drummer at the time – until “in a Gadda Davida (however it’s spelled) came along.  First album was Quicksilver Messenger Service.  (Actually it might have been “The Silly Surfers” – but I didn’t want to admit that 🙂

I was lucky.   My sister had already bought most of the early Beatles albums, so I tried not to scratch those.  Didn’t want to end up tied up, upside down in the clothes hamper again – or in the dryer.   I loved the Herman’s Hermits album we had also.   “I’m ‘enery the eight I am” and “Turn, turn, turn”.

I love the ‘Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind” video with John Sebastian.  The whole video is humorous and creative.  When he sings the “mousy little girl” line and Mona pops in, I laugh and think – There’s nothing mousy about Mona or Lisa!   The guts, drive and determination they each have is amazing and their talent is so admirable.   There’s dozens of wonderful terms I would use to describe the twins, but “mousy” would never come to mind.

  • Sorry, I know better – I mean’t Steppenwolf .   It’s just late and I didn’t proofread my post.  Kind of embarrassing for a writer.

  • Would love to hear all the above – – – with MonaLisa Twins at the top.

Two others jumped out i’d want To add  CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival) and Stephenwolf. I heard John Kay do their songs at an “oldies fest” a few years ago and he was wonderful.

The MLT version of “I’ll Follow the Sun” was so incredible with their skills and beautiful voices.  I think that’s my favorite.  I think of what an amazing version of CCR’s  “Have you ever seen the Rain” they could do.   An example of how good it can sound with a female voice might be the “The Voice 2015 Battle Sawyer Fredericks vs. Noelle Bybee” as it’s titled on YouTube.  Mona and Lisa would knock that one outta the park.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents.  There is no music I enjoy more than yours and prefer your covers over the originals.  It was through a Beatles search I found you, Then I heard your originals and love them.  I’ve passed up three Rolling Stones concerts over travel and other commitments – but I will hop a plane to Europe if need be to attend yours (not kidding).

    Stay Groovy.

  • Just noticed your choices Tommy and remembered a funny and embarrassing incident some years ago.   I was in a restaurant and saw a couple older gentlemen at a nearby table and I just had go over to ask one of them where he got his incredible looking silk Hawaiian style shirt.

He had a weird smile on his face and said he had gotten it at the Edmonton mall (Alberta Canada).   Later I put it all together, the smile, the location and that he looked familiar.  I blew my opportunity to say hello to Randy Bachman from the Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive.  One of my favorite groups and people.
