Ok.  This is a bit of an emotional song.  I had a bunch of other songs I was thinking about posting, but after this I’m heading out to share some MLT tunes with my dog.

As a teen Olivia Newton John came out with a cover of “If Not For You” and I love that song.  I had never heard George Harrison’s cover of the Dylan song until about a year ago.  I like that even better.  I’ve tried to listen to the Dylan version, but I’m in the same category as Jacki in that I don’t enjoy Bob Dylan’s voice.

Lucy was a rescue from the pound.  This dog just looked up at me with a look that said “I Love You – Take me Home!”.  I’ve never had or seen a dog with a sweeter disposition.  She came with the name Lucille and I was a little hesitant on that name.  We had a cat named Lucy at the time, but his name had been changed recently to Lucky.

Someone had given him to us a couple years earlier and said he was a female and his name was Lucy.  I never thought to verify that.  Animals deserve a little modesty too.  He got clobbered badly by a Bobcat in our area and while the vet was sewing him back together he corrected us on the gender.  Considering he was lucky to be alive – Lucy was changed to Lucky.

We’re looking for another cat and “Yoko” is what I was thinking for a name, but now I’m leaning towards “Lorraine” – sweet Lorraine.  But,  “Lola” is coming up as a close second.  My first cat as a kid was “Percy” and looked really close to “Garfield” so we loved that comic.   One of my most vivid childhood memories was Percy sitting on my dad’s chest as he read a book with my dad whistling the song “Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte” while the cat purred loudly.  My dad was reading the book – not Percy.

Yes, it was the right John.  I should have mentioned “Twist and Shout” also as that is one of my favorites.  I also love their version of “I Will”.  It’s one of my favorite songs.  I first heard Alison Krauss’s version and didn’t even know it was a Beatles song.  I think young Mona and Lisa knocked it out of the park, but I constantly think of what an incredible update they could do with their current beautiful voices.  What  a great duo session that could be.

I really enjoy Mona and Lisa’s humor.  When I first joined the club someone pointed out the “Advent Calendar that they did Christmas 2018.  I think their cookie making video is hilarious.  It’s at:

Haven’t seen Snoopy and The Red Baron for a long time!  Used to love Snoopy.  I had a little dog we thought was a Beagle only he had few of the Beagle features.  We just thought he was a Heinz – 57 varieties.  Years later I found out he was a Basenji.  He was my buddy, just like Charlie and Snoopy.  He had a doghouse just like Snoopy’s but it didn’t fly or have weapons.  Now I have a black lab named Lucy.  I guess the next will have to be Charlie or Linus.  I think Lucy will be around for a while though.  She’s a smart dog – she loves MLT songs.

I tried to find two that came to mind.  One I thought of a couple days ago that had been talked about recently – “Snoopy and The Red Baron

One kind of embarrasses me.  Should have been first in my mind or maybe second behind “I Don’t Know Birds That Well” and that is “Pretty Flamingo.”  They did such an incredible job with that song.  So beautiful.  If someone mentioned it and I did not see that, sorry.

“I Don’t Know Birds That Well” is the first original of MLT I fell in love with.  The Lyrics and video are amazing and they make it so bright and beautiful.  Just wish my uncle was still around.  He was an “Ornithologist”.

Here’s one that just hit me.  Probably not on any list anywhere and most likely not known outside the US.

The Purple People Eater – ???   They did a movie title by that years ago.  Very low budget and maybe tacky, but my kids found it hilarious.

I hesitate to share another my dad used to sing.  “Great Big Gobs of Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts”

I agree with your comments totally Bill.  At first, I was hoping the twins would put out more videos and quicker.  Naive on my part.  Others rush out a video every week for YouTube growth.  Yet with Mona and Lisa everything is absolutely first class.  On a scale of 1-10 it’s a 50.  I patiently wait now knowing it’s going to be a spectacular home run.  I used to bubble with enthusiasm hoping they would do one song or another that I liked.  Now I just hold my breath waiting for something they choose that is far better than what I might have wanted.  Some are totally new to me and amazing.  Anyway, they are just so high quality in all they do.

I assumed it was a Paul Anka song, but I had never heard his version.  What an incredible song writer he was.  I couldn’t name them, but remember a while ago hearing how many hits he had that he had written for others or others covered.

*** Ok, I took a bit of a shortcut.  I glanced at a list on the internet and put down the ones I probably would have come up with if I took some time and thought about it.  Surprisingly I came up with several that were not on the list.

Only in my mind and on my knee or desk or dash – whatever is near.  Surprisingly I think I could pick it up again.  It seems to still be there.  At about 13 and a year after I started the drums I traded them in for a motorcycle.  I started skiing when I was 5 and I think became addicted to speed.  I think secretly my parents might have enjoyed me annoying the neighbors with my noise instead of them with my drums.  I’ve been debating picking up the guitar which is what I always wanted to play anyway.  I’m still running a business and taking care of a family so my brain just doesn’t see spare or leisure time.  I can’t see myself murdering guitar chords when I could be listening to the the sublime music of Mona and Lisa.  Why take up fingerpainting when I have a beautiful museum of music right here.

Welcome Lynn.  I think Nebraska may be just about the only state I haven’t been to – but hopefully will someday.  I’m from Utah and found the twins about a year and a half ago.  I agree with you about a collaboration with Sina.  I think her fans would love the twins also – How can you not?

Cool you have some twin grandsons.  That can be a fun age.  Hope all is going well in Nebraska for you.  Glad you found your way to the club.  There’s some great people here.  It’s so interesting learning about music and songs I may not have heard before from some of the knowledgeable people here.

Welcome Joe, glad to have you here.  I found the twins on a Beatles search about 18 months ago.  I saw these young girls with big grins doing “Drive My Car”.  Fabulous.  Then it was video after video.

I’d just come back from a medical clinic and felt about 80% dead.  I started searching for music to jump start some endorphins to deal with my pain.  Their music, skills and the joy they bring to it made a huge difference for me.  So positive, so upbeat, so excellent in their skills!  I am very grateful to have found them.  They’ve brought some of the best music ever made to life again and turbocharged it.

I’ve enjoyed your  posts.  I ran across Larkin Poe a few weeks ago.  I love “Don’t” that you mentioned and “Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues.”  I have a little southern blues rock in my soul.  I ran into Sina that you mentioned about a year ago.  I admire her skills and first saw her “Ringo” video.  I love her “old” version of “Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life.”  She has a newer one, but I like the old.  I’d never heard that song before.  I really enjoy the drum beat.  I used to be a drummer and I appreciate her skills.  One of my favorite MLT videos is their first concert with the different solos.  All 4 are masterful, but being a drummer I love watching Mona’s solo on “Ain’t No Sunshine.”  She has this big grin at the end and I just wish I had been there to clap very loudly and tell her how amazing it was.  Such impressive skills for 13 yrs old.   If you haven’t gotten to it yet, Lisa’s solo on “Samba Pa Ti” is incredible.

I could go on forever, but will restrain myself.  Again, welcome to the best club on the internet or anywhere else.
