Here’s a YouTube link for “When You Say Nothing at All”

OH YES… Thanks for sharing and reminding me of that one. Beautiful, amazing, one of my favorites. First heard it for my mother’s funeral (a picture slide show I put on a table). How could that one have not made it to my phone???? I think I might not have loaded it into iTunes on my computer. Ok, it’s on now. Enya’s beautiful voice in this reminds me of MLT and the magical mystery in their videos and harmonies.
Haven’t the movie “Sweet November” – is it good?
Cool bonus! While I was typing this it rolled over to Alison Krauss – “When You Say Nothing At All.” One of my all time favorites. I think Mona and Lisa could hit that one out of the park. Of course they always do with whatever they do 🙂

It’s really surprising to see how many artists were known just in their own country. But in those days we were dependent on the radio stations and who they chose to play or were told to play. The other thing that struck me was all those groups that I thought were from one country – but were not. Lots of the groups and songs I liked I have now found out were from England that I thought were from USA. So easy these days with the internet and so hard in those days. I was never into magazines or researching groups, so I’d only know on the rare times someone would mention it on the radio. Lots of one hit wonders too, that never made it worldwide.

Yeah, not like mine. I had Ludwig with the same setup, but a sparkly deep blue (I think – it’s been a while). No video or pictures to remember them by. Just memories. Amazing it has stayed with me though. I can drum along with many of the old songs – on a desk or table. I’m just still amazed watching how good Mona was at about that age – and now. Lisa too, in the video of their school performance.

Interesting. I think it was 12 when I got the drums. Blue Pearl but seemed like Ringo’s to me. Didn’t have any family or friends into music, so after a while, I ended up selling my drums and getting a motorcycle. I think my parents might have preferred I annoy the neighbors with my noise instead of them. The only other musical member of my family was the cat who walked across the piano to get to the window.

“Time Won’t Let Me” – The Outsiders 1966 is the first one that jumped into my mind. Not exactly about time travel, but a favorite oldie.https://youtu.be/gaj1wVNvSqk
Glad I searched that one out, because the next song it jumped to was “Because” by the DC5. Love that song.

Member07/08/2020 at 07:30 in reply to: Rock n Roll in Cartoons…. and shows like the MuppetsJung, your picture of snoopy reminded me of a favorite I had as a little kid. It was actually a pretty big hit here. Snoopy V.S. The Red Baron by The Royal Guardsman
Snoopy was my favorite. I had a small dog kinda like him. And cats too. I love all animals – except maybe snakes.

Welcome Tom! Have to admit. I do have a couple musical bones – but just the ones in my arms. Used to be ok on the drums and it is still in my blood.
Love that area of California. I’ve taught a number of seminars and been to conventions in the area. Growing up my older brother was in San Jose, so we came to Frisco often (I’m from Utah). It’s been too long now since I enjoyed the awe of the Golden Gate bridge or swung from the Cable Cars. Last time I did that was just before the quake and then the hotel I was supposed to be at was damaged a bit later and I had to reschedule things. Started my real estate investing in Novato. Anyway. Just have a love for California.
Glad you’re here. Hope you enjoy it a whole lot.

Welcome Tim from Sunny Utah. Glad to have you here. I haven’t seen Gosport, only a couple days in London on the way to Ireland, but my family stems from the UK near you. One side from the UK and the other from Germany.
I agree with you about the songs of our youth. I was just crawling in the 60’s, but I kind of grew up on my older sister’s music. Mona and Lisa have done so well with these songs and brought some back to life for me and other songs I’d forgotten or never heard. When I go back to hear the originals, even some I really loved, I always find I like MLT’s version better. Some songs that didn’t appeal to me then have become my favorites now.
Good to have you in the club here! There’s some great people here that are really enjoyable to hear from and interact with. Especially of course the wonderful world of Wagners.

Welcome Gary! My lucky day was searching for Beatles songs a year and a half ago. All of a sudden here were these two happy, beautiful girls just rocking out to “Drive My Car”. I was amazed. Video after video I think I said “Wow” a hundred times and then started all over again. Funny, after a year and a half the “WOW’s” just get bigger. Have to warn you though, it’s probably got most – probably all – of us for a lifetime. I think I’ve only gone a day or two without the beauty of their songs and voices.
Glad to have another New Yorker here. There are quite a few from New York and a from Canada and Australia. Some really nice, friendly, enjoyable people (I’m from Utah though).
It’s like we here have discovered the sweetest most amazing fruit and I get a smile on my face every time someone new tastes it. For me it’s like a daily injection of joy, happiness and beauty. I love hearing about the many that share how much it has helped their health, attitude or dealing with the stresses of life. So many have said how it brought music back into their lives or expanded it greatly.
It can be a howling wind outside, snow or rain yet others get a puzzled look as they see the grin on my face as I’m listening to “Good Day Sunshine”, “Here Comes the Sun”, or “Sunshine Superman”. It’s nice here in this club to share a little bit of a part of their journey and in their joy and accomplishments. They are a truly talented and unique family.
Hope you have a great time here and again, welcome!

Real simple question for me – I’d play Ringo’s drums.

Welcome Matt! I found MLT and this site about a year and a half ago and Mona and Lisa’s music and those here have brought a lot of joy to my life. I hope you have a great time here. I plan to see Australia some day from all I can tell it is a beautiful country and people down under. Glad you found your way to the forum here. Kind, wonderful people from all around the world – especially from Liverpool.

The thing I’ve learned is if they did it – it would be amazing! I’ve been so pleasantly surprised at some of the covers they’ve done. I used to be excited thinking about what songs they could cover (in my mind). Now I just sit back in awe at what they do and what they choose. I think their choices are great. I literally wouldn’t be surprised to see them rock and belt out Mustang Sally. I’ll have to check out the Joe Cocker and ZZTop versions. I don’t think I’ve heard those.

Very well said. My sentiments too. “If I Fell” is my phone ringtone. I’d tell the whole world about them if I had a way. Cool that you found them and hope you have a great time at their club. Some of the behind the scenes are just as wonderful as their videos. Their humor, their joy, their kindness. Someone pointed me to their Christmas advent calendar of a couple years ago and their video making cookies. The humor, teasing and love between them is heart warming.
Welcome David, so glad you found your way here. Canada is kind of a second home to me and there’s some other great Canadians here in the forum.

I’m not into the look-a-like bands either. Only one was interesting many years ago “Imagine”. Not sure if is the same one as today, they sounded much better, but the music was so enjoyable. I remember another that was a Streisand Impersonator. I don’t think the look was obnoxious like many cover bands but I remember that to me she did Streisand better than Streisand. Sometimes the best are unknown. The best version of Mustang Sally (probably a Jung favorite?) I have ever heard was just a lounge band at Caesars Palace in Vegas. I enjoyed them for an hour or two.
But nothing will ever be the same after the covers I’ve heard from Mona and Lisa. So well done, well thought out and in so many ways improved. I would have never thought I could love someone’s songs so much. They even take songs I didn’t care for and bring them to life in such a beautiful way. Then the ones I liked. Holy cow. I loved “It Ain’t Me Babe” by the Turtles and MLT took it to a whole new level. “Sunshine Superman” is amazing. It’s hard to describe how much I love their “I’m a Believer”.
I guess the only way to describe it is their love for their music is so amazing and enthusiastic. So much professionalism and care in every detail. The little details of Lisa or Mona’s vocals. I’m a Believer as an example is just cool, fun and interesting.
A cover band is just “ya, ya, ya” where MLT are such amazing, cool and fun artists that wouldn’t just cover a song – but OWN it – which they do every time in a spectacular way.
