Way to go, Christopher! I used to have econo guitars when I was younger and would often get discouraged with them not being the right size or the cheap tuners would slip or…. I find having a nice guitar that fits makes me want to play more. I have never played a telecaster, but those Squiers are nice.

I have a Parker P38. It’s their basic model, not quite a Nitefly , but it’s nice. I picked it up for $400 bucks about fifteen years ago. This dude pointed me to this other dude who bought floor models from music stores and then sold them on line. Parker has since gone out of business, so they are kinda pricey. I have seen Nitefly’s go for $3000+. I think they were about $1200 when the company was still going.

I think buying a new guitar is like getting a new car. As soon as you take it home and give it a little gas you fall in love with it. To warm up I think Lisa would recommend Smoke On The Water for hours on end.

Have fun! What color did you get?

Wow, these are some great posts. My latest brushes with nature have been frightening and amusing. My daily commute takes me through some areas where you’re more than likely to see some deer or turkeys. A couple of days ago I came upon a car that was stopped up ahead for no apparent reason. As I approached I saw to do’s (plural of female deer?) and two fawns standing in front of the car, like right in front of it. The driver had edged up, but they were not moving. I was going to honk, but I did not want to scare the driver. Out of frustration with these stubborn deer, she got out of the car and shewed the deer out of the road. She returned to her car and drove on. It was hilarious! I could tell this was not her first time.

A skunk has taken a liking to my carport. The other night it scared the crap out of me when I looked up to see it at my feet. It was here just a while ago, too. As I opened the door it ambled across the car port floor and out the back. Of course it stopped to make eye contact with me, as if to say I’ll be back. I don’t know whether to be scared or amused. Hey, I know, I could name it Schwartz.

Really enjoyed the Marimba video. It’s amazing how they all stay on point.

Are you all familiar with Pink Floyd’s classic “Echoes” ? I thought you might like this incredible interpretation of it by the Stickmen. This time it’s two guitars, a Chapman Stick, and a couple of effect pedals. They have captured a lot of the nuance of the original including the seagulls.

Yes, I do believe Lucifer Sam was about Syd Barrett’s cat.

Ted Nugent sometimes comes off as a nut job. Cat scratch fever is very real, but more like cat scratch itch. Our feline friends have a chemical in their claws that can be very irritating. I always regret rough play with my cats. Itchy itchy

    That cat’s something I can’t explain

    Hi Andy,

You are right. I watch Nothing Is In Vain, and remind myself this is the work of four people. They are truly amazing.

Have fun exploring. There is a lot of good stuff here. If you are like me, one click and it’s down the rabbit hole.

    Have fun

    Hey Jung,

This picture is priceless. I think we have entered into a parallel world. It feels like we are in some Disney musical. I will not be surprised if the animals begin speaking and breaking out in song. Keep an eye out for animated characters on the train. They may be up to some kinda malarkey.

It’s so kool how Neve let Lisa pick her up. What am I saying? Neve probably jumped up into Lisa’s open arms. They are the Geese Whisperers. What a precious moment that must have been.

Earbuds are recommended here. This is a favorite. It takes me back. The first time I watched this felt like the first time I heard it forty-some years ago. Enjoy.

Bought the White Album at Sears, that’s great. I remember being very young when a trip to Sears was like going to the mall. Sears sold “everything”. Of course we didn’t have a mall yet. But when the mall opened up a few years later, Sears had relocated to one end of the mall. Remember the Sears Christmas catalog? Our version of Amazon.

1979 My older brother got me Pink Floyd’s Animals and Seargent Pepper for my fourteenth birthday. I kept playing Animals for a while. It was the koolest. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. There were actual animal noises mixed into the music. Those guitars are awesome. I still have both of those albums on vinyl.

I already knew a couple of the Beatles songs, so I was just listening to the songs I knew. One night I decided to give it a proper listen. I arranged two speakers on my hardwood floor, so that I could lie down with my head between them. I couldn’t play it too loud, as I was supposed to be doing my homework. When I got up to flip the record over, I knew that this was worthy of a quality cassette. That way I could listen to it in the car, too. How can this sound this good? Why am I crying when those parents realize their daughter is growing up? The music was very moving. That albums runs through a full circle of emotions played beginning to end. And then ends with a big sigh and a smile.

By the time I heard the last crescendo of A Day, I was hooked. I was never an obsessed Beatles fan, but loved them just the same. I know them mostly from listening to my friend’s albums. Whenever someone in the group had some Beatles, it would get thrown into the rotation.

This was the beginning of my journey into good music. I sometimes think of those phases in our younger years, and realize they were so short. You may remember listening to a particular group or album “all the time”. What seemed like all the time was actually one summer. Remember when you were young and the old timers would say to cherish each day, because it goes by quick? They were right. Get up and dance and romance, before…

In closing, I concur. How is it that this team of four people can create such magic? I think we all stumble with our words trying to describe how beautiful the MLT harmonies really are. Their songwriting is just, wow, about fifty loud Canadian Geese just flew over the house. That was kool.

Anyway, thank God for the Beatles and how they have inspired future musicians to create music with such beauty that it’s appeal is worldwide. MLT’s first two albums are nothing short of sensational, and the third promises more. Our world is definitely a lot brighter with the MonaLisa Twins.

Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall

    Hi David,

There are a lot of great people here and most of MLT’s history can be found here, too.

Be sure to check out the Out and About section. These videos showcase some of the girl’s extracurricular activities. And they all have excellent sound tracks. The skydiving video is pretty kool.

Jung, that bear video is intense. We have the same practices around here with our garbage receptacles. We tried sprinkling cayenne pepper around but that doesn’t stop the can from tipping over. Someone told me that bears don’t like hot peppers. Upon further research I learned that it is not the taste or smell that acts as a deterrent, but it’s supposed to irritate an animals feet. I found that out when I was trying to keep chipmunks out of a crawl space behind my house. I don’t think it bothered them enough. Try and picture chipmunks running around the yard like it was a bed of hot coals. Never happened, but wouldn’t that be funny?

I think I posted this before. This was across the street from us. As I stood outside filming this Marlo and Joshua were yelling for me to come back inside, yet a skunk has me running away at top speed the other night.

Jurgen. That’s very kool. Three dudes on such a vast location. Just a piano and a cello. The piano sounds quite nice.

    Hi Jurgen,

    Pink Floyd Meddle 1971

    Echoes is actually 23 minutes+

Check out “Pillow of Clouds”and “Fearless” This was before DSOTM

I love that Jason Mraz video. Jason has a very friendly voice.

The Chapman Stick has four bass strings and six guitar strings. It is played by fretting the strings, no pick required. I have seen Tony Levin play years ago and it was mesmerizing. It can be difficult to keep up with what they are doing.

This is not an official Pink Floyd video, but it’s quite lovely just the same:

    Hi Diana,

I so agree with you about Vincent. It’s a beautiful clear night here, so I stepped outside and popped in my earbuds to look up at the stars. When Mona begins to sing, the chills start and then the anticipation of Pietro’s first breath is crazy. I was gonna leave some deep comments about how I feel like music is the dopamine of the soul, but then this little angel on my shoulder whispered,”Thank you, Captain Obvious.” Turns out there’s a boatload of studies on that very subject. As you become more familiar with a song that you like, your ears may become like a junkie’s craving vein.

If I don’t emerge from that rabbit hole in a few days, send lawyers, guns and money.
