  • I think this says it all

    If there’s a better way
To get us through the day
I wouldn’t mind if you could tell
    (You might as well)
If life is wonderful I wonder
If it’s just a tragic spell that makes it hell

  • Coffee Canon is going to give me nightmares.  I have visions of stern faced children dumping out cups of coffee into a storm drain..and laughing.  They will probably opt to just hum Coffee Canon.

  • It’s always fun to watch the coffee drinkers wake up.  Coffee drinkers always want to tell you how they take it, in case you were going to buy them one.

I just remembered I have some Stewart’s Ice Cream in my freezer, chocolate chip.  Black coffee and chocolate chip ice cream.

Has MLT done any songs about coffee?

God bless you, Josh.  It’s so nice you were able to share that with Lola.

  • Howard, I have a basic Mr Coffee cappuccino maker.  It does the job, and helps me feel sophisticated.

Now I remember.. (shimmery lights) I started drinking coffee as a teenager.  When I learned to drive I would always stop at the Stewart’s Shop and get a cup of coffee to go.  it was only sixty cents.  That same cup at the same store is now $1.40 (40 years later)

$4.50 for a cup of coffee    What are they thinking?

I like a lot of Pete’s solo stuff.  He released “White City” in 1985.  It’s an interesting concept album, whose concept does not jump off the page.  Some of the songs are kinda dark, but then the story starts to shine through as the songs follow someone’s hopes and dreams growing up poor in a violent city.

I know that doesn’t sound too appealing, but it works.  Great lyrics, catchy hooks, and incredible music.

Here is a live performance of “Give Blood” https://youtu.be/tAHUsFgnoBs

If Mona can maintain a tight grip on that braid,  wait a minute.  Why am I encouraging this behavior?   Girls, stop fighting and go to your rooms.  Remember you’re both equally special, and equally evil…

Hey Joe, where you going with that guitar in your hand?

Welcome, there are a lot of similar stories here on how we each discovered the MonaLisa Twins.  A lot of them, including mine, go like yours.  I saw this one video when I was looking for something else, and then bodda – boom,  bodda – bing, Bob’s your uncle.  I just started watching everything.

And then I discovered this club.  It’s so kool.  They have so much on here to wander through.  Sounds like you have already been around.  Did you see the Duo Session for She’s Leaving Home?  It’s one of my favorites, and it really shows off both of the girls’ talents.  It seems like everything they do is just drenched in natural talent.  They have cursed me with so many earwigs.  Today at work, I found my self humming Sweet Lorraine.  Like that’s a bad thing?  These songs are very catchy.  Their production is second to none.  I was amazed to learn that these beautiful pieces were  written, recorded, produced and marketed by a very small group of people.  I do believe four is the most you can have to be called a very small group of people.

I play guitar a bit, too.  I was going to say I play a little guitar, but then have you seen that pic of Lisa’s little guitar?  69 Les Paul sounds nice.  I have a Takamine acoustic and a Parker electric.  Have you ever tried a Parker guitar.  No relation, but since that is my last name, it was kind of a must-have.  Have you heard of Adrian Belew?  He does a lot of nice demos for Parker Guitars on youtube.  I go through periods of playing every day to not being able to find time to play.  Following these girls has inspired me to practice a little more.

Last night I was strumming along to Hey Joe, and I said to my wife,”I will remember this as CanGeorgeDoAnythingElse.”  I felt so clever.  She just gave me one of those wife looks.

Oh, and I live in a sleepy little town north of  Yasgur’s Farm.  That was a little before my time, but the thought of it make me miss going to concerts.   Hopefully soon.

I would love to see videos for Sweet Lorraine and Count On Me, but Mike talked me out of it, too.  Great songs like these tell a story that most people can relate to.

Having said that, Sweet Lorraine seems like it does follow a story line with a twist, so a video could be kool.  Lisa’s red hands come to mind.  We would probably see a darker side of MLT.  Alternate endings? or would an open ending match the song better?

I relate a lot of favorite songs with different experiences or events in my life.  Someone else’s interpretation of the song may ruin it for me.  I grew up on MTV, but I feel some songs are better left in the listener’s mind.

And now it’s up to my imagination
What it is I’m making of it all

Jim Croce wrote some really timeless songs.  I love his song “Operator“

My contribution to this topic is kind of obvious:  Time by Pink Floyd

I love the line,”and you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking, racing around to come up behind you again”

Jacki, can you get Stewart’s soda in Canada?  Stewart’s is based out of Saratoga, NY.  It is about an hour north of me.  There are Stewart’s Shoppes all over the place in Upstate New York.  They are often referenced when giving directions.  “Now yer gonna wanna take a right after you pass the Stewart’s and then go straight for five miles and your gonna see another Stewart’s…”

They are mini markets that also have a Stewart’s Ice Cream counter.  I did not know they were in your neck of the woods.  Do you have Stewart’s Shoppes up there?

  • I’ve seen that Peanuts one before, Jung.  It is pretty kool.  I love  when they are dancing at the disco.

I’ve been meaning to ask you, have you ever played the Linus and Lucy theme by Guaraldi?  I have one of those Peanuts music collection cd’s that I listen to a lot when I am skiing.  I always thought that song would be a challenge to learn.

For those that mentioned the Brady Bunch, you reminded me of this “Brady Kids Moment”

Here we are at Hampton Beach, NH in 1969.  I don’t know what’s better, my brother’s plaid shirt or my DIY haircut.  I am number three sibling.  This is me, age 4.  Holy crap? Who’s ready to Rock&Roll?

This is fun.  Everyone was ready to jump back into this endless debate.  MLT fans are the best!

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be chocolate, but I do like vanilla, then again cookie dough ice cream is as good as it is bad for you…

Listened to Orange on my ride home tonight.  This is definitely one of those albums I don’t want to end, and then, thank you auto replay, it’s  The Future.

    Groovy man,
