this is what i get for delving into the past
this is what i get for delving into the past. i thought i would just look into one of the old threads to see what was going on a couple years ago. and i had to land on this? There is no choosing. Mona, Lisa…Lisa, Mona…no choice. They’re a matched set. What’s next, favorite song?

Jung, I agree with you about Lorraine. That riff is very hypnotic. I can’t wait to see the Duo Session.
Hear the children’s choir singing….

I just love how versatile you guys are. You can go from beautiful ballads and folk songs to rock in a couple of clicks. This is one of those rockers. Your vocals are really far out here and it’s kool when you jam out at the end of the song.
I love when you did that at the end of For What it’s Worth. Seeing how much fun you are having adds so much to the song, and what a great way to show off a little. Mona is bouncing all over the stage while Lisa goes into her serious guitar solo face. Awesome! MLT Rocks!! The serious face fits the solo. I love your slide work here, there and on Waiting for the Waiter
On a more serious note, I know playing the same lick through an entire song can be quite the workout, both mentally and physically. You make it look easy, and more than that we can see how much fun you are having. Your band mates look as though they are having the time of their lives, also.
Mark Twain once said ‘Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ That ain’t work man, that’s Rock & Roll
Now I feel compelled to go watch For What it’s worth. Stop children what’s that sound?
I found out

Wow, these are great stories. Thanks for sharing these.
Jung, what a great school trip that must’ve been. For us it was an eighth grade bus trip to NYC to see Dracula on Broadway and some other touristy things. It was a lot packed into a day trip.
Lisa, thanks for sharing that Better moment. It looks like we all have some beautiful moments of musical enlightment.
Jacki, I see a pattern of your older bro’s influence here. All good, I’m sure.
I had a similar teacher encounter when my nephew was in fourth grade, he had the same teacher as me. So I went to pick him up one day. This was around twenty years since I had seen MissFenton. It was awesome. She introduced me to her class as Mr Parker, one of her former students. Mr Parker, like I was something. We hugged and I got to tell her she was my favorite teacher.
Howard, as soon as you began your Sgt Pepper’s memory of listening on the floor and reading the lyrics on the album cover, I was sensing the feel of my teenage bedroom floor. That is my memory, also. I was 14 and my brother gave me Sgt Pepper and Pink Floyd Animals. I wore them out on my crappy turntable lying on the hardwood floors with my head between the speakers. I think it is safe to say I learned what stereo was thanks to the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Albums that had lyric sheets were the koolest.
But then, just like Jung, there was a nicer stereo in the living room. Believe me, the moment Mom and Dad left, my brother and I would race to the living room with some good music. Ok turn it up to eleven. Just to hear the rooster crow at that volume was the koolest thing. Good morning sounds best at a high volume. I love all the background stuff. That might explain my like for Pink Floyd.
Fun fact: Pink Floyd was recording their first album Piper at the Gates of Dawn in Abbey Road Studios when the boys were recording Sgt Pepper. Piper has a lot of background stuff. It sounds a little more beatle-ish than later Floyd.
Matt, stories of recovery are some of the best. Congratulations on 25.
Jung, we have discussed the powers of the symphony. I am glad your Mom taught you the magic music holds.
There are a few like minds here, so I’m gonna post a question under Both Sides Now. (I love the play on words)
‘This is a groovy place

Hey Matt, welcome. Have you been through the Duo Sessions? They are an excellent substitute for live shows. There are a lot of precious little gems here. Check out the latest What’s On The Table video. The girls are so charming and…oh ya, check out the Sky diving video in the ‘Out and About’ section. They are Fearless

Nice!My MLT moment of the day
I was sent on some errands today and told to be quick. My wife hands me a list:
Post office – McDonald’s
Yes, two errands is technically the shortest list you can have, she knows me. A list is always wise.
can you list one item?
The last errand was to pick up some comfort food at McDonald’s for my son. He was busy studying for an important test he had to take this afternoon. I had to be back by 3:00, it was 2:45 As I pull into the drive thru, it’s just mob central. I think to myself, I wonder if I’ll be able to make it home on time. I only have about five minutes of buffer time. And then I wonder how many songs I can get in before I pull up to the microphone.
Power on – “I’m so tired, tired of waiting” rings out. Turn the volume down and give a clumsy smile to the car next to me… I guess this might be one of those you had to be there stories, but it was funny at the time.
Four songs later I am at the window with exact change…I still ended up being ten minutes late, but she had already factored that in.

honestly it was a pretty funny moment

Member13/07/2020 at 18:37 in reply to: At long last….The Duo Sessions Have Arrived !!!!Darryl, I had the same issue with my cd case. Careful, easy, easy….thought I was going to crack the CD. Safe shipping, though.
To avoid the CD from getting stuck in the case again, I have given it an indefinite stay in my CD carousel.
The flintstone joke is funny. Imagine if the Duo Sessions was on vinyl. At some point you would have to turn it over to listen to both sides now.
Those jokes could get old quick?I’ve already got Friday on my mind.

Jung, I’m sorry I did not answer all of your questions. That Who show was very loud, but still awesome. No, I don’t remember Pete smashing his guitar at the end. I have seen clips of that nonsense, but I think at that point he may have out grown that behavior.
Growing up I saw a lot of concerts at that place. The acoustics were terrible, but we were young. I don’t think they host any concerts there nowadays.

Does your discman take batteries? Just think, you can listen to the Duo Sessions on your way to the store for more batteries, as you will probably be pressing replay a lot.
Autograph looks awesome.

Jung, at the bridge and near the end the strumming seems so familiar I subconsciously want to scream,”Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve played the silver ball”. I love how MLT pays so much attention to the smallest of details. Every listen to Orange peels back another layer to reveal another super groovy detail.
Thursday goes too slow
I’ve got Friday on my mindJP

I think my cat got my sticker. It was funny when I opened the box, both of my cats were ready to dive in. They are quick, so I will have to check out their favorite hiding spots.I had also ordered an orange coffee cup. My wife was watching as I held the cup up with a huge smile. Then I was looking at the CD and she noticed my smile was fading. She asked if everything was okay. “‘I thought they were going to autograph this…”. She prodded me to look a little closer.
I looked at Both Sides Now, Oh happy day. It was signed with a gray/silver ink that blended right in with the album cover. Nice one ladies. I can see clearly now, I’ve got my glasses on. Is that a smile under Mona’s signature?

I love this one. 1965 (me2)
Do I hear a tip of the hat to the Pinball Wizard? I hear it on The Who’s version of the kids, but it sounds a little more windmill-ish here. I am not a big who scholar. Does anyone know if that guitar strum was borrowed from the kids and used in pinball wizard ? Tommy was released 1969, so it would make sense. I know that is Pete’s signature strum, but the first time I heard the Duo Session I thought of Tommy.
Flashback: June 1989 I get a call from my dad to say he just heard tickets go on sale in 20 minutes for The Who at the Glens Falls Civic Center. It was basically a rehearsal show for another one of their farewell tours. They kept it a secret up until the last minute, no internet back then. The arena was a 4,000 seat hockey arena with terrible acoustics. We we’re young, it was The Who …in our tiny town
So it was a 5 minute walk to the ticket window, and it was only about a 20 minute wait for 10th row floor. Limit 4 seats per person. And then count the days till showtime.
I remember it was loud, and I remember getting excited when they played Pete’s song “Give Blood”. They played most of their hits. I was just looking over the set list and I don’t remember it being that long of a show. Like I said, we were young, it was The Who
There’s a Duo video for The Kids Are Alright?
One of these Fridays, right?

So today was a workday. Both Sides Now on both legs of my commute, wait, that’s a little bit of a stretch. I did listen to Imagine and Count On Me, and…Traffic and Weather.
That harmonica just fades in and out so seamlessly it snuck up on me a couple of times and whispered,”Big boys don’t cry, big boys don’t cry” Nice one, Mona.
Those angel like harmonies have the same affect on me. They have such a gentle approach,”To say I love you right out loud.” That’s the line that really gets me. Yes, the lyrics to this are very emotional, but the melody itself has a very powerful affect on me. This is definitely one of those songs.
The mix on this piece is right on, and did I mention those beautiful voices?
The Wagner Family has so much to be proud of, with this one near the top of the list. The whole CD came out very well. The song list flows along like gentle ride. No flowing tears, but I did miss two turns on the way home. Clouds got in my way.
Ok, I’ll try to stop gushing over this, but did I mention how beautiful Lisa and Mona’s voices are?
