MLT Joy featuring Why?
I finally got to go skiing this winter. Life gets in the way sometimes. But yesterday was a near perfect day. With plenty of snow left over from last week’s storm and predictions of mild March temperatures I set out for the mountain. Following my new tradition the first ride up was accompanied by Walking In The Air. This is becoming a surreal experience watching the skiers below and noticing little syncs as the skiers appear to be moving in time with the music playing in my earbuds. As I get off the lift I am compelled to restart the song. It’s one of my favorites on my Ski List. The driving guitar rhythm is perfect. At 8:00 am it was still a little chilly. It had rained a little the day before, so the snow was fast and crispy. Nice! My first run was filled with goofy smiles as I passed children in imaginary races. Later in the day I was reminded I wasn’t twenty any more when I was trying to keep up with some millennials. Time to board the next lift and select the next song. This next run will be a little longer. A lot of the times I just press play and let things happen, but I have an album of new music to test drive and it’s early. Time to Make Show. That bass line and pulsating rhythm got the adrenaline flowing so again as I coasted off the lift I had to start the song over. Holy crap, this song is perfect for skiing. The whole album is. But Make Show is a perfect to get the blood flowing, although it could have been four or five cups of my favorite coffee on the drive up. No, that is my base line, it was the awesome music that had me on high energy mode. I had a great day listening to Why? and a lot of Orange, and…don’t you love Lisa’s guitar licks on the rap part at the end of Make Show. The sun broke through after lunch, so it was time for Destination Sunrise for a few runs. Awesome, this album is so kool. Looks like that was my one and only day out this winter, but it was a groovy one MLT indeed.

Tired of Waiting is a great sample of Mona’s vocal range. I love the a cappella intro. Not everyone can pull that off. After it finished Here Comes the Sun began. How ironic, as this is another sample of Mona’s vocals. Harmonic genius

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the grooviest club on the internet. There are a lot of rabbit holes here where you will find treasure after treasure. Friday’s video of the birthday surprise gives a quick glimpse of this loving family of four who are creating these treasures. Their behind the scenes videos are of the same caliber as their musical productions – Fantastic. The Out & About videos are fun and all have kool soundtracks. And of course there’s covers, originals, Duo Sessions, and more to follow.
My first step was their cover of Wish You Were Here. I love their harmonies.

Happy birthday Rudi. Jung is right about March birthdays. I will celebrate 58 trips around the sun Tuesday.
Here’s to many more!

If you are new here, have you seen the skydiving video? It very kool.

The dance scene was kool when the characters in the mirror were interacting. The wallpaper at the end reminded me of the pigeons. I also heard a lot of Why?s.
Glad you liked it.

Thanks, I haven’t watched that BTS video in a while. Rudi speaks. These BTS videos are of the same high quality as their music videos. I was thinking these music videos could actually be Wagner vacation videos. OK, we are at one of the most beautiful places on earth. What can we do to make our vacation video stand out? Hmm, let’s make a music video to show off these amazing landscapes. When someone asks if you want to see their vacation pictures, you politely agree and add a few oohs and aahs. But when the Wagners ask, it is a resounding , “Yes, please!” Their photography skills could be a separate gig on it’s own. The sky is not the limit with this crew.
Happy Monday,
JP

I can’t find the quote from David Gilmour. I remember he once said something like,”What you don’t play is as important as what you do play.” Shine On You Crazy Diamond comes to mind. Once you know this song, waiting for that first guitar lick can be like torture, especially during live performances.
Movie soundtracks also come to mind. The most suspenseful scenes are shrouded in silence, and then Boo!, the audience reacts in unison. I think the absence of light can have the same effect in movies.
You mentioned the unresolved chord progression can create that suspense with the listener anticipating the return. So is that what is going on as the latest Duo Session ends?
Have you ever heard “Chapter 24” by Pink Floyd? It’s from their early works and written by Syd Barret.
from Wikipedia
All movement is accomplished in six stages…” – The lyric’s opening line appears to be taken from the I Ching’s instructions for performing a divination, which is accomplished in six stages, one for each row of the hexagram, and is used to select a hexagram and its corresponding chapter.
I found this video with lyrics

Thanks for this Hammond History. Wow, a lot of it was about profit? David Gilmour featured Steve Winwood playing the Hammond on his 1984 solo album About Face. The solo at the end reminds me of Lisa and Rudi. This is called Blue Light. She’s a blue light – think of a police car’s blue lights.

Nice Dad joke. Did you hear they are not making twelve inch rulers any longer?

So solemn…still gives me chills.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Jeannette. Addiction is a terrible disease. In grief for lost ones I like to listen to songs that remind me of their smile. Only a few clicks away from here.
Sometimes MLT Joy is like MLT magic.
