To give “If You Raise Your Head” a rest I clicked on “Nothing Is In Vain” and I was reminded they have been writing these incredible majestic masterpieces for quite some time. Each album touches on pop, rock, blues, ballads, and psychedelia. I think that if I heard songs like NIIV or Jump Ship before I knew who wrote them, I probably would not guess two young ladies from Austria when they were 21?
But let me tell you about my latest obsession. Since that last Q&A I have been trying to ignore the break between songs. One thing I like about concept albums is the absence of any gap between the songs, thus creating the concept of one long song. I think I have always assumed there was some kind of industry standard for gaps between songs, or it wasn’t a long gap, but a slow intro to the next song.
Like I said, I have been resisting 1-2-3…that last one was only two seconds? So which songs have the shortest gap and which have the longest rest between songs on “Why?”? And then we can count the length of the gaps on their other albums. Have they been doing this all along? and then on our favorite albums, and then every album we own, and this is not going to end well. Is every band doing this? Do solo artists do this? Is this done on vinyl, too? I’ll be pulling my hair out before you know it.
MLT Joy today was the new Duo Session. I like when their voices really take off towards the end. I hear that third twin when their voices sync perfectly like that. I am not familiar with this song, so I checked out the original and came back here really quick. I think Melanie will love the MLT cover of her song.

Same results here. While I was checking it, I remembered this one. It is a very special candid. Lisa and Michaela are so focused on getting Mona’s hair just right. I can not tell if Mona minds the pampering or not. Sometimes her Mona smile suggests she is the only one in on a joke. This picture shows a loving family with a super work ethic. If Michaela listed all of her skills and assignments she could fill a royal scroll.

Now I can go back and fix that post where I repeated myself. Now I can go back and fix that post where I repeated myself.

I have enjoyed reading this thread. Thanks for sharing your experiences. The power music has on our emotions amazes me.
I can not see or hear the name Emily without thinking of one of Pink Floyd’s first hits.

Very nice tribute, Dave. It’s easy to see this was written by a true fan. I can hear the melody as I read the lyrics.

Hi Jung,
Mozart’s Piano Sonata No 14, 2nd movement is hauntingly familiar. Has it been used in any soundtracks? I find it very relaxing. I like the ebb and flow of it. I think it is actually slowing down my heart rate.

A Day In The Life was definitely a highlight of the show. They played it towards the end. He is really something to watch as he becomes one with his guitar, or vice versa. We were so glad we got to see him.

RIP Jeff

Leave Alone alone? Should it remain as is? An original song written by two very old-soul twelve year olds. The performance on the Live Stream was mesmerizing. We have come to cherish those live Duo Sessions, but maybe it should remain as is, a delicate timepiece of the band’s beginnings.
What am I saying? It screams for a proper Duo Session.

I have to confess that sometimes when I hear the title I get that song by Heart stuck in my head.

That looks kool, Jung. I love the shot toward the end with the four cargo planes flying by.

Hi Jurgen,
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, I remember seeing Star Wars at the local mall cinema the summer it came out. It may have been opening day, but I can’t say for sure. I was ten. My friend Dan and I went to a matinee show. We were pretty pumped that we were allowed to go by ourselves, and young enough not to be embarrassed having our Mom’s drop us off. I remember what you described. The big screen and the surround sound made that flyover feel like forever.
Floyd’s Learning To Fly sounds great at 11. The band claims that the backing track of the pilot speaking on his radio is actually a recording of drummer Nick Mason’s first solo flight. It was around this time that he and Gilmour got their pilot’s license. I have always struggled with one line from that song. “A soul in tension that’s learning to fly….” I hear it as, ”A sole intention, that’s learning to fly” LOL I think the latter makes more sense.
