Another California band the Association. I can see the twins doing Never My Love.
I would love to hear them do George Harrison My Sweet Lord . I think they would do great versions. But I also would like to hear them do some more new writing and produce some more new music of their own. .

Hi David. I not sure and we will never know. But I think Holly would have done better than you think. Also The Four Seasons did not do well when the British wave came crashing in. The only one I remember making it was the Beach Boys and Chuck Berry. Now Frankie Valli did fine when he went on his own. But I could be wrong. I remember the four seasons were lost when the psychedelic age came to be. That’s when everything went south.

Thomas I think you are right on the Abby and Grace story. I heard that too. Better that happen. Old tricky Dick Nixon and cross dresser Herbert Hoover. You did not want to be on their list. Just like they did to John and Yoko.

Well it was the Love Generation. Two Great Songs Somebody to Love and A little help from my Friends.
I guess the White Rabbit should have been in Yellow Submarine. Just being funny. But this was interesting I think. Grace real name is Grace Wing. She was invited to the White House when Nixon was President during the Viet Nam era … See below.

Slick hadn’t been invited to the White House by Richard Nixon — it was Tricia Nixon, the President’s daughter, who had sent an invitation to Slick, or at least to the singer’s maiden name Grace Wing. Nixon and Slick had both attended Finch, a women’s college in New York City, about ten years apart.

Let see I know I was looking more like the Beatles, Hair was long, playing guitar and loving all the music that was going on.

Here’s another music great from 67

  • Excellent point. I love Dylan probably the best song writer ever. A lot of people do not like his singing. I don’t mind it that much. He has done some excellent singing at times. The Desire album was good singing with Emmy Lou Harris and of course Rainy Day Women and Like a Rolling Stone and others. But I agree with you Lynn other performer do a better job. Jimi with my favorite Dylan song All Along the Watch Tower. I also will say the same with Springsteen. Other artist have done better jobs with his songs Mannford Man Blinded By the Light. The Pointer Sisters version of Fire to name a few.

  • Alan, Thanks for posting this Bohemian Rhapsody by the Petersen. They did a great job. Love the Country style.

Hey Jung, I think the correct answer to your question. I will keep it short and sweet. Music is all personal and it comes down to the what you think. I like different version of a song or and album. I bought a version of the Rock Opera Tommy by the Hillbenders. They do a hillbilly country version of the opera. I enjoy that as much as the original. I remember Johnnypee posted a version of Sgt Peppers by a group called the Easy Stars Dub Band and they did Pepper with a Jamaican Reggae Style and I love it. It your own interpretation and what you think and like that matters. That’s all that counts.

David, They had that many. Then they belonged. In the end it was the in fighting and Vall’si daugther dying that did them in. I guess. But he did survived and was very good on his own. So what would be your favorite Seasons song. Mine would be Walk Like A Man.

    Hey Jung,
Hope all is well. Yea the sad thing was why were they touring north of the United States in the dead of winter.
They should have done the South at that time of year. I heard other stories that Waylon Jennings who was playing for Holly was suppose to be on that plane and gave his seat up. Can’t prove since he is dead now.
I tend to believe Dion. Due to the fact he never talked about it until that interview. So I believe his story.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. You are right about the Beatles admiring Holly which by the way is incorrect spelling of his last name. It should be Holley. His record company made a mistake on his last name. He really had a tuff time with his record label. I also wonder if he did not die. He probably would have been the next big thing. Making Elvis take a back seat. My opinion. Hell for a 18 months he wrote some of the classic of R&R and his guitar playing was excellent.

Hi Thomas – Fate works in mysteries ways. Dion won the toss and gave his seat to Valens. It was a tragedy to lose all that talent. Glad you enjoyed it. I learned a lot from watching it. Even thought it was a tragedy Dion tried to make it a positive. Saying the day the music survived. Have a good one my friend. Interesting that Waylon Jennings was mention I think as one of the new Crickets.
