Here is the first time I saw Lisa on the bass, and sounds great. When Mona and Lisa’s soaring harmonies kick in wow, Africa never sounded so good. No better complement to Mona and Lisa than Steve Lukather of Toto who said of their vocals “girls are killer”.

Like the Beatles, Bach in his day wrote the book on bassline and counterpoint. From my favourite pianist, this moving Bach piece starts off with a hauntingly beautiful bassline that is then joined by a counterpoint melody line that plays above, and then ends on the bassline again. The interplay between the 2 voices is magic. The effect is hauntingly sublime.

Here’s one with a very stand out bassline. I remember in engineering class as the year progressed and some students didn’t show up any more, they would say “another one bites the dust”. I think I bit the dust at one point! HAHAHA. It was a pretty common term back then.

I am so gullible, LOL. That Bryan Adams lookalike did look very young though.
That is a really nice story what they did for one of their fans. They are really good caring people and appreciate their fans, much like MLT. We are all so lucky to have found Mona and Lisa, and double lucky for you having found GT and MLT.

Yeah that’s a nice one. I had that album back in the 70s, some great old rock remakes the Beach Boys did. Rock and Roll Music is one of their big rockers they do at their concerts.

Jurgen, this is a very nice rock classical instrumentation work with a great bass line. The Police Every Breath You Take is another great one with effective bassline. Thank you for posting all these! ❤

What a great song Jacki, this was huge back in the 80s. I don’t think anyone who grew up that decade would not know this one. I didn’t know Bryan Adams sang some parts in the song, I see a real young looking Bryan in the video. I like Glass Tiger’s Thin Red Line too.
And those 80s hair cuts JP, they sure look dated today, but were kool indeed back then. I remember the look in my mom’s face when I got one of those kool hair cuts on a trip to the hair salon in the day!

Great song JP, and yeah Roger Water’s bass just drives that bassline wonderfully throughout the song! I remember the very first time I heard this song, it was in my grade 5 music class, the teach Mr Stevens brought in the schools record player, and he said “listen to this great sound”, and played “Money”. I didn’t know who Pink Floyd was at the time, but it sounded so cool indeed. I always remember my grade 5 music teacher fondly, he was so passionate about music, felt so many beautiful feelings singing in his class. He also had dozens of ukeleles, so even though none of us knew how to play, he would have all the kids grab a uke and just strum along and sing while he played on the piano and sang, or banged his tambourine as he sang. Music seemed to pour out of his pores. Later in high school I learned Mr Stevens passed away which was really sad. Best music teacher anyone could have, he taught us how to be passionate about music.

Amazing musicianship Chris, I love seeing musicians get deep into their playing like this. His playing here reminds me a little of Tommy Emmanuel, except this is on the cello.

Jurgen, hearing this it looks like the Beatles wrote the book on effective bassline, among many other contributions to music. Great animated video too!
