It sounds like Rudolf and the gremlin ghost appearing in the background all over again!  🙂

It’s interesting how the creative process and inspiration sometimes happens.  With the song “Nowhere Man”, John Lennon said he struggled for hours writing that song, and it wasn’t until he gave up, fell on the couch, and suddenly the melody came to him.

I think I can relate to that.  At work I recall a few times in my career I would struggle all day or days to come up with a design to solve a problem, and I’d end up by the end of the day giving up in disgust, thinking to myself “I’m a lousy engineer” and “I don’t deserve to be in this job”…, and then in the last 5 minutes of the day, it just comes to me, like the needle found the right groove.  And it’s not something I think I could repeat again if I lost what I wrote the next day.

Yes great question Dale and thanks for that explanation Mona!  I always thought Woolgoose was a clever name as it conjured up this image of a cute goose in a wool sweater.  Too cute!  I just had a closer relook at the logo, and I don’t think my imagination was too far off.

Wow Mike, those guitars you have are all magnificent!  I really like the looks of that blue/white Rick 330 as well as the White Falcon which reminds me of an ivory Baby Grand Steinway I once lusted after.   Thanks for sharing that.  It looks like yourself, Tomas, Roger and others here know your guitars and have the best of the best in your collections!  Truly impressive.

The list looks much better now as it just felt incomplete, and I think Tomas you completed it properly with the Gretsch Duo Jet thumbup

Tomas, that Les Paul sounds like a true gem, and a nice light one to your liking.  Sounds like the perfect “Baby Mine”!  Thanks for sharing the story around it.

The Gibson Les Paul is considered one of the best guitars of all time, but I am sure you already knew that 🙂   Do you prefer the standard solid body or chambered hollow, or semi-hollow body guitars in general?  Do you get more volume and richer tone out of a chambered electric guitar, like the Duo Jet?

Thanks Mike for that insight!  I certainly hear a lot about the Les Paul and the Stratocaster here mentioned by others, so no surprise when I saw them in this list.   I don’t think you are alone in liking the Godin, because I recall Roger has an awfully nice looking one in his collection that stood out for me.

Mike, not at all.  Enjoy reading what you and others write hear about your guitars and the passion you have for them.  I can totally appreciate the notion that these instruments all have unique character and feel that make them special and worth chasing as anything that is crafted with skill, patience, and passion (pieces of art) would.

Hi Angelo.  Yes they are legends indeed and will be even bigger legends in the future!!! MLT now certainly eclipse all my previous music heroes, Beach Boys, and even Beethoven.   🙂

  • John, yes I agree with all your points too.  It’s that softness and beauty of their harmonies that are just sublime!!!!…..They can take a song you’ve heard all your life, and brilliantly transform it into something refreshingly new that you want to listen to it again like the first time you heard that song.  They always remain true to the original maintaining everything that made the song great in the first place, and add their own magic (for a lack of a better word), to make it even greater.  I did a post here about the difference between interpretation and mere replication, but what MLT do is even more than interpretation.  They add their own art and creativity into it, making it even greater.

  • Thanks for that David!  Yes it looks so familiar from a distant time, what nostalgic feelings that brings back!  1978, I would have been 15.
