Hi Mike.  I say let it grow!   I have the MLT hoodie, cap, and beach towel.  Awesome aren’t they.  They are so high quality and stylish too, especially the hoodie.  Can’t go wrong with any of the MLT merch.

Jacki, I had a feeling you would chime in when I started talking about BTO.  What music hip kid growing up in Canada in the 70’s/80’s wouldn’t know the BTO experience right?  I also like Bryan Adams and songs like Summer of 69.  Classic rock and roll sounds there. He actually grew up near where I live and graduated from a high school not too far from mine about 4 years before me in North Vancouver BC.  I’ve heard of Tragically Hip a lot, but not really familiar with their songs.  Will have to take a listen later.  Do you remember Trooper?  Another great Canadian Rock band from those days.  “We’re Here for a Good Time”, “Santa Maria”, “Oh Pretty Lady”, “Two For the Show”.  They did some awesome songs.

I agree with you, any of the great guitar sound songs mentioned, I have no doubt Mona and Lisa could interpret and play on par or better than the original.

Thanks for sharing your story Howard.  I know the feeling of listening to Pink Floyd with the volume turned right up high in the dark.  Use to listen to Pink Floyd on my dad’s high end stereo (JVC Turn Table, Akai Amp, and some 100+ watt per channel speakers with massive sub-woofers, mid-range and tweeters).  Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb etc.   They sure sounded awesome and crisp on vinyl through those powerful speakers.  Pink Floyd had some great guitar sounds and the sound effects really are something else.  I have a feeling Mona and Lisa understand what we are talking about because I believe they are Pink Floyd fans too, but great suggestion about listening to Dark Side of the Moon or Shine on You Crazy Diamond in a black out with head phones, or massive wide open speakers if there is sufficient sound proofing in their place.

What a wonderful poem Jacki, “Essences of Two”.  Every word is right on about Mona and Lisa!

That’s a good one Howard.  My older brother use to have a rock band when he was in high school, and him and his band use to play BTO a lot, especially “Taking Care of Business” I remember so I have that song engraved in me literally from the high db band practice he use to do on Saturdays when our parents went out.  The RCMP came by a few times to tell the kids to turn down the volume.   If my mom and dad only knew back then.   Maybe a new question idea for Mona and Lisa.  Did they have any neighbors complain when they use to practice their electric guitars and drums in Austria growing up?  I just couldn’t imagine anyone getting upset with Mona and Lisa for practicing too loud.  🙂

Well Howard, you can never have too many pens is my motto.  Of all these I have, my MLT pens are among my most favorite.  I think my “The Wide, Wide, Land” mug is starting to get lonely, so time for some more MLT mugs soon.

Are you guys familiar with the band BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive)?  The Guess Who, and BTO were huge in Canada in the 70’s.   Not sure how big they were outside of Canada.

BTO’s “Taking Care of Business” has the same kind of vibe as Beatles “Hey Bulldog” MLT covered in BAM3, and would be another nice one with some great guitar riffs.  Would make an awesome guitar jamming warm up song for Mona and Lisa.

Beach Boys “Sloop John B” would be a brilliant nautical song.  I could just imagine the magic Mona and Lisa could do with this song with their harmonies along the same vein as the incredible “God Only Knows” interpretation they did.  “Sail On Sailor” is another nautical Beach Boys song that is very underrated but has a great almost hypnotizing vocals and rythm.

Beatles “Octupus’s Garden” would be a fun one to do.  It has some nice guitar riffs in there.

Gotta love Adobe with all the creative cool stuff you can do with their products.  Had Adobe Photoshop Elements I use to edit pictures with I enjoyed but stopped working after I did my Windows XP upgrade to 8 a few years ago.  Been meaning to get a newer Photoshop so I can learn to do the cool things Lisa did with that Halloween picture. ????

Hi Jacki.  We can all see you love to write, and that is awesome!  You have a magic with words as your poems show, like the really great one you just posted recently, “Essences of Two”.

LOL.  Howard if anyone messed with Lisa’s beautiful long hair, I think I would be more sorry for the little poor urchin sitting behind her as that big black slate would come crashing down upon his little head.  You remember Lisa’s Halloween guitar?  I am sure there would be an “Anne of Green Gables” moment.  🙂

And yeah, I would highly recommend trying out a fountain pen..  They can bring a lot of joy.

Thanks Howard for the Quora article. Yes I’ve been into pens, most of my young adult life actually but more so in the last 10 years. Fountain pens mostly too. I guess I am an Accumulator because I like all different brand of pens as long as it looks and feels right to me. I’ve always found hand writing beneficial over typing on a computer. I take a lot of notes at work, and hand writing in a notebook in a meeting, phone calls, or just to plan my day etc I find helps to slow me down and focus better resulting in a calming effect, and my notes have saved the day for me many times because I had info that I retained that I could fall back on. This article if anyone is interested points out some profound benefits of hand writing, and using a fountain pen is well like listening to music on vinyl over CD. It just feels nicer and more tactile which makes the act of writing more enjoyable, so you will tend to write more. And some fountain pens with Flex nibs are great for sketching and calligraphy which is an art unto itself.

And a short video about hand writing:

Anyway, that is my self-help speech for the evening, and excuse my digression here, as you can see I am a little passionate when it comes to pens 🙂

…and I will leave you all with this to show Lisa hand writes music with a pen, so I am not completely off topic here.  🙂
