I can empathize with your dad. You don’t know how many times growing up I had “Row, row, row, your boat” sang to me, by friends meaning well, but I ended up hating that song. 🙂

It looks like Zombies came in 7th out of 15 nominees for 2019. I feel good the collective votes from the MLT fan base (including many of mine) had a part in getting them inducted. Well deserved.
The Cure
Def Leppard
Janet Jackson
Stevie Nicks
Radiohead
Roxy Music

Howard, yes the 70’s if you think about it was pretty diverse musically. From Beatles 1970 “Let It Be” to Blondies “Heart of Glass” and “Rapture” (Rapture was technically 1980). I remember Blondie was something else when I first heard her as she kind of started the 80’s sounds in the late 70’s, quite ahead of the times. Was great to see MLT meet Blondie recently.

I was lucky because my older siblings bought a lot of records before me that I could listen to; Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Beatles, Chicago, Hendricks, Led Zeppelin, Carpenters, Monkeys 45s etc. My first album that I went out and bought for myself was I think when I was about 13, and it was the Beach Boys 15 Big Ones album that was released in 1976.
I always liked the Beach Boys since a Grade 4 school party, when the teacher played a”Surfin USA” 45, and I remember that was the coolest thing I ever heard. Then in 1976 the Beach Boys remake of Chuck Berry’s “Rock and Roll Music” was a big hit on the radio at the time on the 15 Big Ones album, and it kind of sounded like Surfin USA again, so I got it. The Beach Boys wave really started for me at that point. Kids at school were into Beatles, so my early teens was a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles music.

Rick, agree. You can see a glimpse of the ladies singing the childrens choir in ther 2017 recap video. Would love to hear this on the airwaves everywhere one day too. Very deserving song of many from the awesome Orange album.

So that cougar’s name was Butch. Nice to know, thanks for letting me know Bob. Back in 1967 we might have still been there when you arrived at Washington State University.
Michael, been through Portland and that area a few times. Always enjoyed going through there on the way to California or the beautiful Oregon coast. Lots of nice little towns in Oregon.
So I need to make a change to my # 5 on the top 5 MLT videos.
1.. San Francisco was the first MonaLisa Twins video I came across that introduced me to their wonderful music and world. Their version is just beautiful, and their angelic voices and incredible harmonies add another dimension to this already wonderful song by Scott McKenzie, elevating it to new heights for me. The video is also shot in many places I’ve been to with my family when visiting San Francisco and brings back a lot of fond memories.
2..The Wide, Wide, Land is my all time favorite song, and is one I know is very special and dear to Mona and Lisa because it’s about their grandmother who suffered from Alzheimers, and it reminds me of my mom too. It is one of the most beautiful song’s I’ve ever heard and the video is so touching.
3..Bus Stop is one of the best music videos I’ve seen, even compared to the multitudes of music videos that came out in the 80’s and 90’s (remember MTV and Much Music in Canada). Love the MLT version of this song, and the video production/choreography is so well done.
4..These Boots are Made for Walking. I just love the live performance of this song by Mona and Lisa, and the vibe it captures of the Cavern club.
New #5 is the Little Drummer Boy video, just because the singing and harmonies are just so sublime, and the fact they could make something so beautiful with only their voices and drum is remarkable too. The video is so cleverly done too showing all the individual voices that appear.

Martin, well stated. I agree Beatles (fab 4) were greater than the sum of their 4 parts. Reflects the view of MLT as well.

Count me in Jerry. I always love the guitar lead in on this song whenever I put on side 2 of the Orange vinyl, great song. They also sing with so much feeling on the acoustic video, and with every strum of the guitar too. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched that video, including the latest Two of Us. On both videos you can see just how tight they are in their playing and vocalizing, so natural and incredibly awesome!

Great poem Jacki
There is something special about the power of two even in nature. We see it in mathematics (powers of 2, exponentials etc), computers are built on binary (2 states = 1 and 0), the celestial bodies in the universe like stars and galaxies appear and interact in pairs, and even at the sub atomic level 2 plays a big role.
With regards to people, I like this quote:
“One person can have a profound affect on another. Two people can work miracles. They can change the world.”
When it comes to “when two works wonders” what better example can we think of than our lovely MonaLisa Twins.

Member08/12/2018 at 08:04 in reply to: Is this where I ask fellow fans and not Mona and Lisa?Hi Michael! Yeah, Moody Blues did some incredible songs and I think and they are underrated in many greatest band lists I think. I love Tuesday Afternoon, can listen to that all day, as well as the all time classic Nights in White Satin and many others. My list was up to 25 at one point, and I had to go back and curtail to 20, even though it was supposed to be a top 10. And shhhh… ABBA was in there somewhere too
Your #4, 5, 6 and 9 I’m not familiar with. I’ll have to check them out on Youtube.
And loving the MLT club too!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Bob. When you mentioned WSU Cougars that brought back a ton of memories. My dad did his graduate studies at WSU in 1965, and I was 2 years old then when we immigrated from South Korea and we lived in residence there at the university, my dad, mom, older brother and myself. I am told I took my first footsteps and started to run on campus. My earliest memories at 2 to 4 years old was walking around on campus with my mom to go down to see the cougar mascot. So I am a huge WSU fan too!!!
The picture here is a WSU Cougar fight song album my dad bought at the campus in 1965. I remember marching to all the WSU band songs on that album when my dad use to play it. My brother who would have been about 12 then was probably listening to Beatles Rubber Soul. As you can see in the picture, I still have that album. Just had to share this with another WSU Cougar fan.
