Agree with everything you said Jacki.
As for Radio station airplay, I wonder what it would take for MLT to have their own independent Internet Radio station. I have no idea what costs are and how one would go about setting up their own internet radio station, but given MLT do everything themselves from the studio recording to their own independent record label, why not this too, if it’s feasible. Technically I don’t think it would be hard to just stream their Jukebox into the world wide web, but there must be licensing and other things involved to setup an official internet radio station.

Tim, Howard, great insight into the Beatles, especially about Ringo. Always learn something from your dialogue here. I did see a youtube video where John Lennon was talking about when they got rid of their superstar extraordinaire member Pete Best and replaced him with Ringo, John spoke very highly of Ringo’s drumming especially about Ringo’s great rhythm.
I am not familiar with the Beatles version of Glass Onion (will have to listen to it), and only just recently listened to the Beatles Hey Bulldog, so can’t offer any opinion on comparison to MLT versions, but I love MLTs versions of both songs in their own right. Fast becoming my top favorite MLT covers for me.

Yes apologies for jumping the gun Claude. Should have read your post more carefully.

What makes MonaLisa Twins unique among modern bands today, is they are more interested in the art of music, creating what they believe to be great music in the tradition and inspiration of Beatles like approach to song writing originality and creativity, over quick commercial and monetary success. So I think for them, there is nothing worse than a record label trying to influence their artistic independence and freedom, or what their music should sound like.
Something that really stood out and impressed me is in one of MLT’s early radio interviews on the BBC, where Billy Butler asked the girls jokingly what would happen if Tim (their partial manager at the time) shot down in flames one of their ideas, and Lisa piped up very strongly and firmly that “that would never happen!!!”. Wow, what conviction!. Mona and Lisa can not tolerate anyone telling them what they can or can’t do when it comes to their music creativity. MonaLisa Twins are a Mustang breed of horse, wild and free, never to be tamed. So I think the choke hold of a major record label influencing what they can or can’t do goes against every grain of their soul. They are true artists first in every aspect of that word period.
One unique strength the MLT has is their wonderful dad, Rudolph Wagner, and his incredible music industry insight and musical talent that, along with their step mom Michaela, has been a shining beacon for Mona and Lisa in their musical career. The MLT is indeed a self sufficient family team, that have the talent and desire to succeed on their own without the help of a major music label.

For me “Sweet Lorraine” really stand out from Orange. It has a really powerful and irresistible chorus making for a really universally appealing song I think. Mona’s lead vocal, Lisa’s rich guitar sounds, awesome harmonies, just delightful!!! Some songs that come to mind with similar powerful appeal for me are signature songs like “Satisfaction”, “My Generation”, “Surfin USA”, “Crocodile Rock”…that no matter what your musical taste, is hard to resist when that comes on at a concert or party. With the build up to horns and childrens choir sound in the end, it also has a sophisticated feel like Beatles Penny Lane. One of my favourite MonaLisa Twins originals among many.

In It for Love is a very charming song, with a wonderful guitar lead in and delightful guitar sounds throughout that I love, and Lisa’s singing is so warm and colorful. “In it for Love” is a great lovely song with a 60’s inspired sound and very modern as well. In the beautiful harmony at the end it reminds me slightly of a Herman’s Hermit classic “I’m Into Something Good”. I recall in one of the interviews right after Orange was released Lisa mentioned it was one of her favorite songs on the album.

There is definately good music out there, and musical trends and tastes evolve over time, so what is considered good music change from generation to generation, but the problem I see is that the major music labels today are more interested in minimizing their risk, and investing in artists that fit a certain mold that they feel will sell. To them whether it is good music or not is irrelevant as long as it will sell. So for the consumers of music today, what is offered by the big music labels is music that is already filtered and molded into something the record labels feel is worth listening to. We have to look hard and find the good music out there, usually from the smaller independent music labels like Woolgoose.

As for increasing exposure in the USA, imagine if the current MLT Jukebox (which has tracks from the new albums streaming by the way) found it’s way on the US airwaves, or XM Radio. They would get a whole whack of new followers who love great music. What would it take for MLT to have their own radio streaming station of all their music on XM? MLT Jukebox 24 X 7 on XM and Internet streaming radio? Just a bunch of thoughts.

Hi Tim,
If you have time, have a look at this discussion about modern record labels and why modern music industry is in the sad state that it is today.

It makes me appreciate the route MLT have decided to go.

This was brought up on FB a while back but its quite intersting how when you sing, your accents are not noticeable hardly at all. The Beatles too when they sing, you cant notice their British accents at all until they talk.
I like your German accents and hope you dont lose it.

Dont feel bad Howard, Im waiting for mine too. In Canada, after the packages come off the plane in Toronto, anything destined for the wild western Canada I swear go out by horseback/wagon train!

That sounds great about the new big update, but have to say you’re doing a phenomenal job with how well everything looks and functions on the forum and the MLT club now. I don’t know how you do it.

Great question Howard. I envision smoke rising from Lisa’s guitar strings after doing this song.

Mike, yes I agree. They will have to make room for “Lisa, guitar queen”.
It sounds like over the years you have turned into one “bad” (in a good way) guitarist. I imagine it’s not easy taking on a Clapton piece. So, in the top ten which includes Jimi, Clapton, Beck, Page, SRV, Santana, Prince, and others…..they will likely have to make room for Lisa.
Now imagine a Lisa lead guitar riff of a Guess Who “American Woman” with Mona on lead vocal and rhythm guitar.

Thank you so much for that very in depth insight into the practicing and labor of love that goes into preparing for your performances! It’s inspiring to say the least to read about how you and Mona, people of your tremendous caliber as musicians, approach performing live music. I recall a few nights ago listening to that awesome interview you did with Robert Rodriguez, when you ran into Mona’s room and you both sang “Two of Us” just like that so effortlessly, I say effortless because it sounded so great, it made me wonder just what goes into being able to stay on top of your craft to be able to perform like that live so wonderfully, even with all the other projects and things going on. I really enjoyed reading your explanation here 🙂 🙂 🙂
One suggestion I just thought of was perhaps doing a behind the scenes video in the future one day when time permits of one of your song recordings (cover or original) for an album from the writing or arranging, to the practice sessions, to the final recording. Something similar to one of your behind the scenes videos about a music video, but instead about a song track recording for an album.
