In 1993 Israel Kamakawiwoʻole arranged Somewhere Over The Rainbow and What a Wonderful World into a melody and it became a big international hit for him. The song was featured in the movie, Meet Joe Black. I thought Israel’s Ukelele playing was quite something, until I heard Lisa do her magic with that instrument. Never thought a Uke could be so expressive.

This one is a cover of a cover that actually became a hit in Korea and Japan, by Canadian artist Aselin Debison that got her some attention in the US and her album Sweet Is The Melody went to number 8 in the billboard charts in 2003. I first heard this cover in 2015 on a Rocky Mountain bus tour, and the tour guide who was Korean played this on the bus continuously. Went well with nature and mountain scenery of the Canadian Rockies.

Hi JP
Thanks for raising these old videos. I found these way back in 2017 when I discovered MLT on their main youtube channel. The making of When We’re Together video stood out when I saw them writing their own songs, working in the studio, just like the Beatles with George Martin, and Brian Wilson do their magic in the studio. I knew I found artists I’m going to love, and later when I heard Orange I felt the artistry that went into Pet Sounds and Sargent Peppers from the very first intro track.
I especially enjoyed the Finland video right from the plane with Nothing Is In Vain playing, it felt like I went to Finland with the Mona and Lisa and the band!

I came across a wonderful poem “I’ve Learned” by Maya Angelou.
Here is an excerpt from the poem that I think sums up the power of music as well.
And oh how MLT’s latest makes me feel! Such amazingly beautiful emotions it evokes. It belongs here, amongst the great works of melody geniuses.

An intriguing movie JP, thanks.
“When you can go either way, and you choose to do the right thing, there is nothing more gratifying” sums up free will pretty good I think!

Hi David
Love David Bennet’s stuff, I can do a David Bennet binge one day, thanks for that. Always wondered about that odd ending at the end of “A Day In The Life”, it was the Beatles having fun with the vinyl.

Hi Jurgen
Thanks for the Alaska videos. That first one brings fond memories of my 3 Alaska cruises I took. As we have a big cruise ship industry here with a cruise ship terminal right in the harbour in Vancouver, it’s been fairly affordable and easy to hop onto an Alaska cruise. I literally just take the skytrain (subway) from near my place right down to the harbour and walk a couple hundred meters to the cruise ship, and then a week or so later walk back from the cruise ship to the subway back home. No connecting flights etc to get to the cruise ship.
Anyway it is a beautiful 7 days cruise up the inner passage to Alaska, with most of the cruise going along a passage with land on both sides with a lot of wildlife and mountain scenery.
On all 3 trips, my favourite part was standing on the deck looking at the glaciers in Glacier Bay. I felt a spiritual aspect to it, because you are standing in front of a glacier with glacial ice formed tens of thousands of years ago, and I am witnessing massive chunks of ice falling into the ocean and transforming from ice to water again, after 10, 20, 30 thousand years. It feels like a circle of life as the ice transforms to water and becomes a part of the ocean, and some evaporates into the atmosphere, and some freeze and fall back onto the glacier as snow high up in the mountains, and becomes a part of the glacier again, and then repeats….Well climate change might change all that as all the Alaskan Glaciers are slowly disappearing now. It’s easy to contemplate life and death, and how the circle of life happens watching geologic events as ice, tens of thousands of years old reach the final leg of it’s journey and slide into the ocean. The glacier doesn’t die, but transforms into another state.
Anyway, it is so peaceful there in front of the Glacier. The water is absolutely calm, and occasionally you hear a large snap and crack and a hush as a large piece of ice falls into the ocean. If you could disembark and float in front of the glacier in the bay overnight in a small boat or canoe, it would be amazing.
If you want to hear what it sounds like when the ice breaks, you can listen at this website article: The Ice Is Talking..
In regards to Alaska music, for me MLT’s 2007 Concert album was my Alaska cruise soundtrack. I sat out on the deck for many hours watching Alaska unfold listening to the album with headphones on. When I hear “Aufsteh’n”, I some times visualize a glacier or icy mountain range. LOL 😁 Fond beautiful memories.
Here are some photos I took from my last May 2019 Alaska cruise.

Hi JP
I just saw the trailer to Cafe, and it looks interesting. I will check it out, thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Dave
Thanks. Yeah that is my Lamy Safari, and a TWSBI ECO with 1.1mm stub nib on the right, and a Montblanc 149 Calligraphy flex pen on the left. Both give nice line variation. Now I wish I had better skill at drawing. What you see there is about the extent of my drawing at the moment.

Hi Jacki
I vote for St Patricks Day long weekends too. I can spend the day drawing three leaf clover leprechauns like this one. Would be fun. 👍😉
In my previous companies I worked, Family Day wasn’t observed which is the case at most Canadian nationwide companies and some federal workers. The mail was being delivered yesterday. In my new company Family Day is observed, so I got the day off for the first time.

Hi David. A few years ago, not that long ago actually, a few Canadian Premieres of the provinces decided between New Years in January and Easter In March is too long without a break, so they introduced Family Day in in February. At first, the Premiere of BC wanted to be different from other provinces, and had Family Day a week earlier or later than the other Provinces so when BC residents travel, it will be quiet in the rest of Canada! LOL. This wreaked havoc in National companies as some employees got a long weekend in BC while the rest of the company in other provinces worked and then the following week, only BC residents had to show up for work while other provinces got a long weekend. Us smarter employees in BC took both long weekends! 😁 A few years ago, the brought BC in line with the rest of the country.

Hi JP
Yeah agree, MLT behind the scenes and travel video and photo shoots are so well done and engaging, they provide a real experience of the place. I can’t help but feel a connection to Lanzarote, it feels almost like I’ve been there, and I feel the same way about their Hamburg trip.
