Here is one of Mozart’s most moving pieces, his Piano Sonata No 14, 2nd movement.

I always enjoy stereo better than mono, but if a song was originally recorded in the studio in mono, then I prefer the original released mono recording over any post production stereo remix. I read somewhere all the Beatles albums were recorded in mono, except Abbey Road which was recorded in stereo and for that album stereo is central to the album’s creative vision. I bought the Beatles Rubber Soul (UK version) vinyl used at a used record store, and the clerk checked some number engraved in the vinyl online for me and confirmed it is an original production cut from the mid 60s in mono, and it sounds great with all the crackles and pops weathered over the decades, feels like going back in time to 1966.
I recall I had some Beach Boys compilation albums remixed in stereo, and I preferred the original mono sound, as the stereo remixes of those 60s mono tracks just didn’t sound right. On head phones the artificial separation of instruments and vocals between the right and left track felt funny and unnatural. Their later albums in the 70s recorded in the studio in stereo were great, and wouldn’t listen to it in any other way.

Democracy is a wonderful thing. When we want change we have an election and let someone else run things for a while. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best thing we have going. So long as we can all agree to disagree respectfully and live in peace and harmony, it can be another beautiful day on this merry go round.
And when you make us feel alive again
You never mind who’s right or wrong
But soft and tender
Make us surrender
And show us how to get alongGod, who was the genius songwriter who wrote this?👍🎶✨😁

Hi Roger, an interesting article indeed.
For John Lennon, although Elvis was his big idol and a role model growing up, I think Bob Dylan was the American artist he admired the most and related to artistically the most too. I think Bob Dylan saw in John an artistic/lyrical kindred spirit he admired. There was cross pollination inspiration going on too, though with Bob it was all of the Beatles. I think it was the Beatles who the biggest influencer for Bob to foray into using the electric guitar too in his music. His praise of Paul is quite the complement for Paul coming from another titan of a legend. I think Brian Wilson expressed similar of Paul, remarking about the effortless genius melody and melody Paul creates.
It’s too bad Ringo had to put up with being treated like that from John, but it looks like by a few years later Ringo held his own in the band and even left for a short stint until the band begged him to come back. Good for Ringo. I remember in an interview post Beatle break up, John expressed his concern Ringo would be Ok on his own, that goes to show despite all the fun and prodding that goes on in young men friends, their existed a higher level of fondness and care between all the Beatles.

Member09/01/2023 at 12:58 in reply to: What other songwriters go against the tyrannical narratives of our times?I think freedom, and individual rights, and especially the right over ones body is the most important and sacred right and freedom of all. In a society there is also a responsibility to look after one another, “social responsibility”. Without that, in a society we don’t really have freedom.
When everyone prioritizes their own freedom and rights over the well being of others and no one obeys rules in society that are there to protect and preserve the freedom and rights of fellow citizens, we don’t really have freedom, but rather chaos. Imagine trying to drive across town, when everyone only cares about asserting their own rights and freedoms over common sense and the well being of others, no one obeys speed limits, and traffic signs that are there based on science to reduce accidents and protect people. It becomes like an animal kingdom, or post apocalyptic disintegration of law and order and society.
Without getting political, that’s my 2 cents.

Hi Daryl
So sorry for your loss, condolences. Losing someone you love like that is so hard I know.
Life and the people in your life at this moment are so precious, it’s always so important to reflect on that and appreciate all you have and celebrate that blessing every time you are with them. Never take anything for granted.

Member09/01/2023 at 12:44 in reply to: What other songwriters go against the tyrannical narratives of our times? Thanks Tomas for that explanation and really heart warming story about the deep friendship between Paul and John. That is one aspect of the Beatles that is so special, the Fab 4 were not only fabulous singer/songwriter/musician/artists, they were fabulous friends, not just fair weather friends that so many people who say friends are, but really deep friends forever. Even after the break up, and occasional spats, you can tell in different conversations, they loved each other like family. Perhaps that’s why their music is so special, they are good people.

Hi Jurgen,
Good point why mess with success in the instance of some planes like the 737, and the 747 Jumbo Jet too. In the early 70s my mom flew to Korea by herself to attend to urgent family issues, and she came back brought me an amazing Japan Airline (JAL) foot long 747 that was battery powered and would taxi all over our hardwood floor apartment building. Had lights and made a jet sound. Interesting the 747s are still in the air. That new Airbus though does look pretty intriguing, and new energy source like Hydrogen looks to be the way of the future.

Hi Daryl
I have a feeling it will be much more than 2 or 3 years, keep doing what you love, for as long as you can! There is a virtue in that, it’s inspiring. Life is good indeed!👍🙂

Hi David, I love the defiant spirit of Norm, he didn’t lose to cancer, but rather it was a draw because the cancer dies too. In essence it is that defiance that no matter what the universe throws at me, it can never take away my freedom, free will, independence and essence of who I am. In the case of musicians and artists, it’s their art, their creativity, their free expression, art will live.

John Lennon’s last word to Paul McCartney was “…still a friend of mine”? That is very interesting, and makes sense perhaps that was the inspiration behind MLT naming the song of the same expression, Still A Friend of Mine.

Hi Dave, yeah Lisa nailed it with her explanation on all the different facets of music and art. I’ve never read a more complete and thorough description of it.

Hi David. Well said, I couldn’t agree with you more. Mona and Lisa are not just amazing gifted musical artist powerhouses, but great thinkers too with amazing perspective on things. That is why WHY? is such an artistic masterpiece. Such insightful and meaningful expression in amazing music. They are artists with profound meaning and insight in their music expressed so beautifully and powerfully. As Lisa demonstrates in her words, they grasp the intangible multidimensional concepts of what music and art is. They are amazing artists first and foremost.
