Member10/12/2023 at 02:47 in reply to: MLT Notebook, can make a difference in your life like their musicI read one of my journals from 8 years ago, going back to 2015. Knowing now what I know, reading that journal felt like seeing a younger self, that I wish I could go back and whisper some wisdom to. Seeing how I was thinking 8 years ago and how I changed and evolved gives some insight into how I should proceed with life now into the future, a little wiser. It gives some interesting perspective and intuition.
Only a journal from the past gives all the details and nuances of your life, feelings and thoughts that memory alone will never capture. In that sense, old journals from the past are priceless.

Great photos Keith of places now made famous for me by Any Other Day. Chester sounds like a really beautiful place.

What a beautiful poem Jacki, in remembrance of John Lennon.
He was an artist who wasn’t afraid to express his vision for a better world.

Ave Maria is beautiful Jurgen. Towards the final years of Bach’s life while he lived in Leipzig, he produced some of the greatest Choral works like this, and many Masses and Passions all in praise of God. Bach wasn’t particularly religious living a quite rebellious life, but in his music it reflected praise of beauty in the universe.

Hi Tim
With that snow, the Kindlemarkt is really feeling like Christmas. Those photos look suitable to appear on a Christmas card.

Hi Jurgen
Wow the video is breathtaking, and that Neuschwanstein Castle is unreal, like straight out of a fairytale. I never thought a castle like that could exist in real life. The scenery, the music just raises goosebumps. That would be a fascinating place to visit. Sad to hear that King who had that castle built died before it was completed. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Dan
Thanks for the explanation around the song. Listening to it closely, there is a lot going on there. The guitar work/finger picking really sounds wonderful, and the vocals and instrumentation are very complex. The vocals have quite the range. They utilize so many cool effects with the vocals, guitar sounds and drums working off each other. Truly some master work going on there.

Hi Jurgen
Thank you for sharing your experiences with the Beatles music growing up. It sounds like those songs really resonated for you with what you were going through. It is magical that certain songs/music can express so profoundly what you are feeling, in ways you could not express through words. I found when that happens, it helps you to cope, soothes, and even heals sometimes. At least that is what music has been for me, and it sounds like for you too. That live performance of Nowhere Man is great, the sound is the real track from the live performance. You can enjoy it with all the rawness and passion.

Hi David
Good point, and I think Rubber Soul was the turning point when the Beatles stopped the focus on live shows and endless touring and went into the studio to produce their most creative music. I think Paul said up until that point they focused on what their screaming fans wanted, but with Rubber Soul it was the artistry they went after, and that move placed Rock music on the same pedestal as classical and great literature and paintings. And indeed some of John’s best work started then. Brian Wilson took notice, as did the Stones, the Who, Pink Floyd…etc. Rubber Soul and focus to studio work started the Rock Renaissance. In the Beatles repertoire, if you compare songs before Rubber Soul, and after (including Rubber Soul), I think the music became so much more complex, refined, and innovative.

Hi Jurgen
That’s hilarious! “Did you bring the saw” after all that. I enjoyed all the Chevy Chase Griswold family vacation movies. I always laugh at those scenes of fast cars that pull up next to the station wagon on those quiet country highways. Maybe I’ll look up some Griswold family vacation movies over Christmas.

Hi Tim
That CP Christmas train is for a really good cause to, donating to the local food banks to help people. While it must be a lot of fun to watch the lighted up train pass by, I imagine for the train crew, it would be equally joyful watching peoples faces light up as they pass through the many towns.

Hi Jurgen
Christmas in Singapore looks like it would be very beautiful and festive, and I imagine quite warm too.
That Christmas decorated car is hilarious. If they went one step further and added neon lights to the car, it would really be something. Imagine this Audi with a Christmas tree tied to the roof. 😁

Hi Chris
Come All Ye Faithful is a great traditional Christmas song, and it must have felt beautiful singing it. The one in the video at first is OK, but that mechanical voice gets a little irritating by the end. What Child Is This based on the Greensleeves melody is another favourite traditional Christmas song of mine.
Wow you have 3 dozen Korean restaurants in the city, and it looks like you know some of the Korean terminology well. 👍 Bi Bim Bop is one of my faves, and it’s funny whenever I fly to Korea on Korean Airlines they serve Bi Bim Bop on the plane, and it’s one of the best I’ve tasted. Imagine that, airplane food tasting so good. Hope you and your daughter get to go to Korea together, and be sure to order the Bi Bim Bop on the plane. 😊 jjajangmyeon is also another very popular soul food kind of dish like Bi Bim Bop, but is a noodle, like spaghetti, very popular among young Koreans. Some of my faves are Yuke Jang (hot spicy beef soup), and Budae Jjigae (spicy hot pot soup). Couldn’t fall asleep tonight so jumped on here for a bit, and reading your post is making me hungry now. 😁

Member07/12/2023 at 06:06 in reply to: MLT Notebook, can make a difference in your life like their musicI have a few fountain pens that would easily second as an effective ink squirt gun. Couple could probably send a splash of ink a few meters. I am just trying to imagine the aftermath of an ink fight in class in the day among some young teenagers. HAHAHA.
I would think these days in school, overhead projectors, big high def LED screens with electronic white boards are everywhere. I can’t see the chalk board going away altogether though, as I think math just wouldn’t be the same without the teacher writing up formulas in chalkboard and quickly erasing numbers as they balance equations. There is a tactility and intuition to it that would be lost doing math on keyboard.
