    Hi David,

yes in the movies „Help“ and also in „A Hard Day’s Night“ there are many unforgettable scenes. I particularly like the part when the four of them want to record a piece of music in the studio and the wooden floor around Ringo is sawn out. It reminds me of various cartoons. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the scene on youtube.

You’re right: Paul McCartney has a very entertaining and charming way of presenting things. Maybe he should have produced his own cooking show. Here is his recipe for a cocktail:

Paul McCartney also showed his wonderful humorous side again and again, as in this entertaining adaptation of his song Ballroom Dancing. Especially the song line “…and we used to fight like cats and dogs…“ was staged very vividly:

George Harrison the quiet Beatle, George Harrison the introverted Beatle. That’s how he was described in the press for a long time. However, one side of him was rarely mentioned: George the humorous Beatle (perhaps because the role of the joker was already occupied by Ringo). Well, all fab four had a special sense of humor, but it was George who had a remarkable love affair with the comedian group Monty Python, probably the uncrowned kings of British humor:

Admittedly, I’m cheating a bit now: Of course, the following piece is not an intro, but a full-fledged piano storm, but the new interpretation of the two pianists may make my little fib forgotten again:

    Hi JP,

after Jacki’s interesting poem, the muse kissed me too: (or whatever you want to call this…)

There once were two twins from vienna
they settled out to a land named Brittania
    two guitars on their back
    british rain in the neck
they’ve done work that will last for millennia

In the pretty town of Liverpool
they found that life was very cool
    in a cavern they played
    groovy music was made
so the beat of the music became their tool

A new record that they now produced
as very orange it was introduced
in their studio it was made
    winding up to higher grade
people love it, people like it, isn’t easy no to be seduced

To end up now the pretty story
it can’t be denied with a little glory
    five years have gone
    new art is done
„Why“ is the name, lay back, relax, no worry

And here a nice cembalo intro:

PS: if you listen carefully, you might recognize the beginning of Dave Brubeck’s “Take five”. Also an absolute classic.

„I’ll build a city for you. Made of glass and gold and stone“ (Ich baue eine Stadt für dich…)

There is so much so much too much
    Advertising everywhere
Too much bread and too much play
    Happiness has no name
    All roads are traveled
    In the hearts cold images
    No one can read minds
    The climate is getting milder
I’ll build a city for you
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
    Leads back in again
I’ll build a city for you and for me
No one knows what he looks like
    Or what his name is
    Everybody’s on the run here
The tears are made of ice
    There must be another way
It can’t go on like this
Where can I find support, where can I find shelter
The sky is made of lead here
I don’t give any more answers
    To the wrong questions
Time is running out so fast
And happiness is something you have to chase
I’ll build a city for you
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
    Leads back in again
I’ll build a city for you and for me
I’ll build a city for you (I’ll build a city for you)
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
    Leads back inside
I’m building a city for you and for me (and for me)
A city where there is no fear, only trust
Where we break down the walls of greed and scorn
Where the light does not go out (the water brightens)
And every morning wakes up new (and the dream is worthwhile)
And where every glance flows through time and space into our hearts
I’ll build a city for you (build a city for me)
Glass and gold become stone (for you)
And every road that leads out
    Leads back in again
I’m building a city for you and for me (and for me)
I’ll build a city for you (build a city for you)
From glass and gold to stone (from glass and gold to stone)
    Every road that leads out
    Leads back in again
I’m building a city for you and for me

“Schiller”, named after Friedrich Schiller, is the name of the music project of the two musicians Christopher von Deylen and Mirko von Schlieffen (the latter left in 2003). It is melodic and soft electronic music, which is accompanied by Lyric, similar to Lichtmond before. Some of the tracks are purely instrumental, others feature vocals by very different artists. Meanwhile “Schiller” has produced the twelfth album.

A beautiful passage of text, Jung:

    “In music anything is possible”
    when thoughts and feelings unite
become the beat of your heart
    and free the yearning soul
from the cage of everyday life

By the way: There are people who believe that extraterrestrials have brought us language and writing. I think the more they brought us the music and then we became halfway intelligent….????

Now it gets a bit special, I hope not too special. In 2010, the brothers Giorgio and Martin Koppehele founded a multimedia music project called „Lichtmond“. Lichtmond’s music combines electronic music with ambient and rock elements that flow into each other. Poems connect individual songs, accompanied by three-dimensional computer animations and surround sound. The brothers themselves describe their music project Lichtmond as “audiovisual poetry”. Music in the tradition of „Kraftwerk“ and „Tangerine Dream“.

    Intro:

    Intro:
Like a gentle flutter of wings you creep shamelessly into my life
and you stay forever like a sunbeam in the rain
    when souls unite
    crying with happiness and sorrow
    when they dream together
    then, then it is love

    Outro:
    A hundred vows of love
    A thousand flaming candles
    Millions of red roses
    Billions of twinkling stars
I’ll trade for a single kiss from you
    when night touches day
    in the early dawn

    Hi Jung,

I once had the pleasure of hearing Lang Lang at a Christmas concert. Yes, he is a person who does not only play music, but lives music.

Here is another nice piece of music by Schiller:

Thanks, I’m glad Diana. Sometimes the German music scene brings forth beautiful blossoms. Leslie Clio, a young woman from Hamburg, has fulfilled her dream of having her own record label after her fourth album. I can’t clearly classify her music. Very versatile, somewhere between pop and soul.

Diana, a very nice interplay of piano and vocals. I don’t know Sara Bareilles, who is she?

    Diana,

I love Tears for Fears too. Thanks for posting the cover version of „Mad World“. Yes I know it and I like it very well. Calm, relaxed and yet haunting. Wonderful. My all time favorites from Tears for Fears: „Pale Shelter“, „Shout“ and this one with a likewise beautiful piano introduction (yeah, funny how time flies):
