    Hi Jung,

I’m replying to you, but also to everyone else. I was busy & gone all day, but I’m back to check up on things!

I too miss vacation spots when I return home, BUT I have so many great memories, even from vacations years ago! No vacation can last forever anyway! But as far as depressing times, I’ve never enjoyed Winter. The cold wet weather is no fun for me. When it’s sunny it’s better, but then usually colder. Snow? For me it’s fine in the mountains, or in pictures, but anything having to do with snow & cold turns me off. I’m just uncomfortable all the time. (Now, I HAVE hiked in the snowy mountains in the springtime, when it’s sunny, & that’s fun when the air is not TOO cold!)

<font color=”rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)” face=”inherit”> I know that other people suffer from SAD Syndrome, (Seasonal Affective Disorder.) So at least I know I’m not the only one! I also get affected by the pollution here, which is worse in </font>the<font color=”rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)” face=”inherit”> Winter, & traffic jams also bother me.</font>

I realize that some people enjoy the cold & snow, & I can understand that, but for me, it’s a major bummer! I believe that being born in Hawaii affected my negative feelings towards the cold; even though my parents brought me to Seattle when I was only 3 months old!

It seems that some of us have a NEW disorder. That is “MTMLT’sS,” or — “Missing the Mona Lisa Twins Syndrome!” (I just named it!) But rather than suffer too much from the New Syndrome, I’m choosing to instead “ATMLT’S,” or “Appreciate the MLT’s,” because they’ve been very generous with their time with us! But also, we help them to make a living doing something they really enjoy! So, we have a Symbiotic Relationship, where each side benefits!

So, while I do miss seeing the MLT’s after Christmas, & I don’t enjoy Winter, I do have some solutions that help! They are:

1.) Exercise 2.) Getting outside, even if for a short while. 3.) Listening to Music. 4.) Practicing instruments for fun, & with goals in mind. 4.) Rehearsing & performing with a Band. 5.) Spending time with Family & Pets. 6.) Teaching Music, even though there’s always behavior issues to deal with, at least I’m helping those that need it! 7.) Reading, or watching a favorite video or TV program. 8.) Getting enough rest & sleep. 9.) Watching Music videos, like the MLT’s & others. 10.) If you can get a Cat or Dog to lay on your chest or legs, THAT HELPS TOO!

I’m sure you guys & gals have other things that you do too, to relieve the boredom & stress.

I’m not pretending to know all the answers, because I don’t. But following some kind of positive routine like I listed above definitely helps me! And YES, I still have depressing moments, & I sure ain’t perfect! And if in doubt — Take a NAP!

If that was at all helpful to anyone, please let me know! THANKS, & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Mona & Lisa will be back with more new livestreams & Videos. HOORAY!!!!!

    Jung,

I’ve been to Stanley Park a bunch of times in past Summers — Love It! But never in the Winter, & I didn’t know about the train. Sometime I’ll have to make it up there again! Thanks for the video!

Here’s one from my neck of the woods, although it rarely snows here during Christmas. We get some years with no snow, but usually a few times a year it will snow, and last for only a couple of days. (If you see any snow in this video, it’s fake!) — Bud

    Jacki,

We had a very nice Thanksgiving! I have a plan for eating as much as I want, without suffering. That is, to make sure to get plenty of exercise so you can eat like a champion! I took a long walk, spent hours raking leaves in the yard, lifted barbells in-between, & then was really ready for dinner!

While finishing up outside, I saw that our neighbor’s dog had escaped from heir yard. I knocked on their door, but they weren’t home. I gave him a call, and they were away at relatives for dinner. He told me what to do. With my daughter’s help, we leashed their dog, gave her & their other dog lots of treats, & got them inside their garage ’til their family got home.

After a wonderful dinner that my wife cooked, the 3 of us watched “The Making of Now & Then” on PBS. Then we watched a TON of MLT videos! My wife was surprised at how many artists that Mona & Lisa covered so well, along with their originals! She was singing along!

Then Friday morning, our neighbor’s two kids brought us flowers for saving their dog “Gertie!”

I hope you all had a memorable Thanksgiving too! — Bud

    David,

Yes, & also, who would think that Sweden or Austria would turn out singers in this age that have been so popular! (Or Korea for that matter!) America & Britain don’t have to be the only countries with hit recordings.

Mona & Lisa might have a small Fan base now, but who knows what the future holds?! Well, I’m off to work soon! — Bud

    Jung,

I remember this song from WAY back, but I hadn’t seen this video before. It is a very nice song, and to me so different from their Rock ‘n’ Roll tunes! I’m glad to see that Mick and Keith, like Paul and Ringo are still going strong! Maybe it doesn’t make up for John Lennon being gone, and many other great musicians who are no longer with us; but it does ease the pain!

I feel so lucky to be alive in this era, having seen so many great musicians & singers “live” in concert! I love to see the many who are still around after so many years! Sometimes it feels like the rest of the World sucks, with all the tragic events that are going on now. But we still have great Music! To me, Music really does help make people feel better, & hopeful about our collective future!

For whoever is reading these posts, I hope you all have a great Holiday Season, and that we all have a Happier New Year! CHEERS! — Bud

    David,

Agnetha had, & has a very powerful voice, similar to the power in Judy Garland’s voice, only with a much different style of course. Although ABBA’s Music is much different than Mona & Lisa’s, they remind me of each other in the following way. Both Mona & Lisa have wonderful solo voices, with personal differences in vocal quality, yet they blend so well together!

It’s the same with Agnetha & Frida; both are different, yet they have such a great blend together! While I doubt that our Twins would do any ABBA songs, I still appreciate both groups, & there’s no necessity for comparison.

And with the lack of quality in much of today’s Pop Music, I’m so glad we have the Mona Lisa Twins to enjoy, with the bonus of their feeling like a family with all of us fans who support their endeavors! — Bud

    David,

Nice ABBA song choices! I got a great ABBA 4-CD set from my wife a while back. There’s a lot of great stuff on it that wasn’t in their top hits. I do love “Dancing Queen” and other hits of theirs, but the lesser-known songs are some of my favorites, the same as with the Beatles.

Here’s another sad ABBA tune, & a beautiful one at that! It’s very touching, & I believe it’s one of their best! (This song came out in 1980, when Agnetha was 30 years old, & Frida was 35. And they recently recorded new material!) — Bud

    Chris,

Yes definitely, I think this is one of M&L’s best & most moving performances! It’s perfect, as is their version of “God Only Knows.” They have done so MANY great versions of an amazing variety of covers! And of course, their originals are all wonderful too!

    Tim and Chris,

I’m a Judy Garland fan too, & I remember seeing her on TV a lot when I was young. If you haven’t heard this song of hers from the 1954 movie, “A Star is Born,” you must! It’s my favorite song of hers! I was lucky to play trumpet in a show dedicated to her music, & we played this song among others, back about 10 years ago.

I love her interaction with the musicians in this movie clip! Btw, Judy was in something like 7 of the Top Ten Movie Musicals! (I remember seeing that fact once, but couldn’t find it today.) — –Check this out!

    — ALSO, from a Command Radio Performance at age 21. (Judy Garland, 1922 to 1969)

    — Finally, from a 1942 movie with Gene Kelly. She’s only 20 here! C’mon people, dig this!

  • Wow Chris!

I haven’t heard of this album before, I only read that John was busy writing songs from 1975 to 1980. This is like finding buried treasure for Beatle fans! Thank you for putting this up for everyone to hear; what a guy! — Bud

    Thanks Chris,

I think it’s best to be open to all kinds of Music, with no Musical prejudice! I play in a Jazz big band, but I’ve played in Rock/Funk/Pop bands too! It’s all good, as they say! But I use the guitar for fun, mostly for Rock & Pop, & to teach songs to kids. I want to spend more time on guitar, but I get pulled in different directions. But I have fun with it!

I recently got tickets for Sergio Mendes again, & Chris Botti. Then Blood Sweat & Tears are coming here again! I appreciate the Classical stuff too! If you’ve never heard of Rafael Mendez, (1906 – 1981,) OMG! He was one of the greatest ever! His double & triple tonguing was unmatched! He arranged & composed Music too. And yeah, I met him twice & heard him live! He played trumpet, guitar, piano, marimba & clarinet but recorded only on trumpet I believe. As a child, his whole family had a band, and they were forced to play for Pancho Villa! Rafael had a very interesting life!

    Jurgen & Michael,

I’ve never heard of Sina until now, but I like her playing. It’s always nice when women give the men some competition! In that Gas video, which I like also, they should have given Sina more camera time! That was kind of frustrating! I’d rather see more of her than the posers out front! (Sorry, but women deserve equal time!)

Those were very good, thank you! I love Jazz, but Rock is great too! I appreciate the differences!
I’ve seen Buddy Rich live about 6 times, & he was a monster drummer! He even played with Charlie Parker’s band!
