What a fascinating subject, as a print and graphics person I was actually involved in some of the Iconic 12″ Album covers in the 70’s-80’s along with the elaborate Show Programmes that were sold at the concerts ( Duran Duran, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, Roxy Music, David Bowie, and others) , As a young Printing apprentice and an avid music lover my time during my teens was absolute heaven, I got to see many of the up and coming bands in local clubs and pubs before they hit chart status, I worked on and produced many album covers and sleeves for top bands of the era and got to meet and hang out with the bands during photoshoots that I later printed on good old fashioned Lithographic printing machines, I was also involved in some of the very first New CD packages, which ranged from simple colour slips to insert into the New Clear Plastic Jewel Cases to the more intricate fully printed and formed cardboard CD Style album sleeves, along with many cut down versions of posters, lyric sheets, etc contained within. Having seen “Rod Stewart and the Faces in a local very small ballroom before “Maggie May” hit worldwide success I had the pleasure and absolute excitement of printing their 12″ Album sleeve and to be absolutely honest the back of “<b itemprop=”headline” style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>The Faces – A Nod’s As Good As A Wink… To A Blind Horse” is still to this day my very best and most favorite. Alas I wasn’t there when they took to photos’ but have seen the puppets in real life at one of Ronnie Woods art exhibitions, they really are remarkable and he also did similar with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards but I dont think these every became open images to the public ? I have never seen them since. So if you want to share my excited enthusiasm for what I consider the “The Best” please check out here : https://youtu.be/ivlZtr0c2EY – images : https://www.superseventies.com/oaaa/oaaa_faces.jpg

Hi all,
hope everyone is safe and healthy, just had another video alert sent to me re Rickenbacker guitars,
this one is a little more production based and has a few surprises in it that I wasn’t aware of – it’s a good job the CEO had a bit more charisma than the presenter who seemed to have a bit of a stiff neck and a very down appearance – but the video was more than interesting – so if your not all fed up of guitar stuff check it out.

GDay to all
WOW – so much interest – and i thought i was behind with things – but it seems like i found a first – woopee – one of my personal firsts for the MLT crew .
I put this up because im so stacked out with work i should but can’t due to time stress say thank you to all who liked my post and really deserve a personal comment.
I would love to see and read more of the forum posts and get into more 1 2 1 conversations about MLT and music in general but as I said I’m so busy it would really steal my time from what I should be doing.
Just to say – i’m loving the new site layout and especially the members message/contact section – I may (probably) have missed the official announcement but find this really helpful – i’ve already hooked up with jacki – fantastic – and if anyone else wants to join me you’re welcome, as i said to jacki – Im super busy due to Covid and I may go AWOL from time to time but will catch up sooner or later.
As for the Twins – well they just keep getting Better and Better – I’m so glad i joined and so glad i stayed committed and subscribe even though I don’t spend anywhere near as much time as I should on the site.
Hope everyone is doing ok
Keep Safe – Keep healthy – Keep happy

Hi all,
A little late but never the less – now it’s “Groovy Time ” I’m back too
I’ve been a little busy of late and not checked in very often but I now have some space and now busy catching up with the twins,
Firstly – the vids I’ve caught up on are brilliant and true to the girls talent and ambitions, I applaud them for sticking to their principles and very pleased to see that they have no intention of changing in the near future.
Secondly – OVER THE MOON -just received the Live package – buttons & poster and all – Love it (especially the creative packaging – 30mins of shear excitement (& frustration) but worth it – everything arrived in pristine condition and the only tears were of joy. Thank You.
Thirdly – Record Contracts & Music Biz – Whole heartedly agree with the girls, some of you may recall my Dad had a No1 hit in Australia during the 60’s – he got well and truly stitched up – the record was at No1 for 16 weeks so the income should have been in $000000’s but because of the label management and contract he was persuaded to sign he earnt a measly $400 and was stopped from recording for the next 5 years, literally gagging his musical talent and further career progression. (everything he wrote or composed belonged to the record label for a fixed fee – thus he never provided anything else for them except instrumentals – that kept him out of the charts and limelight)
The music business has not changed, it has always been about the money and always will, but with the current situation, internet awareness and modern technology the tools are now in the hands of the creatives and they can control their own destiny, artist like the twins will have a very healthy, happy and profitable career which will grow at the pace they set and to the limit they wish to achieve, they wont become top headlines in the media unless they decide it and that will undoubtedly save their sanity and honourability.
I wish them all the best for the future and can only say “I’m with you for the journey” keep doing what you do.
– ( side note ? does anyone in Canada know or remembers any film about the province Saskatchewan, the only way my dad could record was for the film industry – which he did for a Canadian produced film about the aforementioned area, i have 1 copy of the demo in very basic format – would love to hear the finished version but can’t trace the film – any help gratefully received)

hiya all
Adelaide, remember when….. Rundle St was full of pedestrians, cars and trolley buses?
Gday to you Darryl,I remember the Rundle Mall pigs from a visit back to my hometown in the late 70’s
how ever growing up in Adelaide I remember when it was a normal road/street
we used to go into town to meet my dad from work some afternoons, he worked in the original Adelaide TV station, he was musical director for Channel 9 TV and featured regularly in the Country Show and also produced music for Local Personality Ernie Sigley, who had a No1 hit record , written, performed and produced by my dad
here is a an article about him.

hiya, sorry for delay, been preoccupied with my sick mom,
a lot of questions to be answered, but in general all were very nice people, most were in awe of their popularity and still very much real, the Duran Duran guys were great, we used to hang out on Broad Street regularly, usually ending up in a 24hr taxi cafe, laughing around and working the booze off, The legend of “The Faces ” after parties” in the hotels are real, spent the night in a bathtub when they first came to Birmingham UK , woke up in the back of their van and became a roadie for a few weeks till my mom found me !!! Oh for those days again, 🙏😎

wooah, that’s wicked – yeah, have seen it -so simple and so amusing – followed other stuff re cigar box guitars – that looked simple too – until you try – that’s another story – my weakness is co ordination between fingers – ears and brain – they don’t play together without a fight lol – i did get to making this but still cant play
-
cheers jimmy
I’m not a guitar play but find the technical stuff with the instrument amazing – love the sounds that can be created from a few simple pieces of wire – always amazes me – would love the skill. time and equipment to make my own one day -even if i can’t play it -
Cheers Jacki
I’ll look it up – searched most of the Canadian Arts info as i think it was only a low budget arty type film but apparently it did get an award ? but still cant find, would have come out in the late 60’s maybe early 70’s 71. 72 ?
I’ll have a look and see what i can find, thanks

yeah, I remember – my sister was in Adelaide. South Australia and there were so many differences to UK, we used to have a great time sending each other old VHS tapes of the TV adverts and newspaper clips – as for the 3 weeks to educate her – i got a feeling it was just so I would buy her more “Sarnies” when she came over to visit, and I was always making her “Chip Butties”
My gran-daughter picked up a penfriend on her visit to Disney and they do the same, they also share YouTube vids of comparisons between UK and USA products, quite amusing .
perhaps we could get the twins to do similar with their homeland stuff ?

Lol,
thank god for music, at least that’s universal.
don’t worry, your not the only ones, as I said the Ozi’s are just as bad and their BRITISH !???
It took me a over a week to convince my Ozi sister that Chips in UK were not the same as chips in OZ, here they are Fried Potato Sticks (similar to MacDonald’s Fries but made with real potatoes cut into chunky pieces) and to educate her on what a “sarnie/butty” was = sandwich, bread with filling.
Its so crazy how local language and slang can take over – my 3 grand kids went to Disney, Florida for 3 weeks last year, 3 weeks ! and came back asking for a Hershey bar instead of Cadbury’s chocolate!!? and can we go to the Mall !!

Hiya David,
just to be sure – “Chuffed” over here means – happy, pleased, joyous, excited, exactly what you get with a MonaLisa CD, and yes your American spelling has been a pain in my bum for many a year, as a printer have had to proof read and spell check sssssssssooooooooo many documents that where written in Microsoft Word (before they had different language versions) and now I’m fighting Google Translations – I really don’t know why we don’t give up and use one universal version – please – lol
