LOVE The Hollies… Look Through Any Window is my favorite!
I love The Yardbirds too… and they were great with Clapton, but from a commercial standpoint, his leaving was probably the best thing that ever could have happened from several aspects: Clapton went on to create Cream and achieve immortality: The Yardbirds went on to great success, and launched Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page into the stratospheres; and after the implosion of The Yardbirds… from the ashes rose Led Zeppelin! How different the musical landscape could have been had Eric remained???

Gotta be honest here… I used to like a few of Melanie’s songs, but she was my ex-wife’s favorite singer. I have a lot of trouble listening to her now!

Woohoo! Looking forward to it Lisa!

Back when I lived in New Zealand, I visited an animal preserve and they had lions and tigers there. I love the tigers! It’s amazing to me how an animal as beautiful and graceful as the tiger can also be so ferocious and dangerous!!!

Speaking of stripping guitars, that 6131 Jet Firebird that Malcolm Young played was originally his older brother George’s guitar. George added a Gibson PAF between the two Filtertron pickups. Eventually, Malcolm removed all but the bridge Filtertron and stripped the red finish, leaving the guitar bare wood. He also at one point stuffed a sock in the empty pickup holes and covered them over with a piece of plastic, thinking it would help the tone. He eventually removed the cover and sock and left the holes open. The picture you shared is an early one, before he stripped it and removed the extra pickups. Malcolm was the real brains and songwriting talent behind AC/DC. Angus is great… but Malcolm WAS the band!

I imagine that anything you cover will be amazing Lisa. That said, what I’m looking forward to most is new original music from you and Mona! I can’t wait for the new album this year!!! 🙂

I watch various You Tube videos every day during my lunch break. One day about 3 years ago, I stumbled onto Your Going To Lose That Girl from their Cavern Club shows. I was immediately struck by their talent, and beauty! I watched it over and over, amazed by how they really captured that song and made it their own, while still staying faithful to the original. I then started watching other songs, again struck by how incredibly talented they are (and they continue to grow musically too)!
Mona and Lisa fill a huge void in the music world. Where most recent music has gone to an ugly place… or (in my opinion) is just noise, Mona and Lisa are a breath of fresh air to me! I immediately purchased When We’re Together and Orange… and MLT Plays Beatles and more too. I listen to them often… and tell everyone I know how awesome they are. I’ve even shared their You Tube videos on my FB page.
Another aspect I truly respect and admire – how sweet, kind and respectful they are. Mona, Lisa, Rudi, and Michaela all seem to genuinely care for their fans… and people in general, and I get the impression they would never be rude to anyone.
I’m definitely a lifelong fan now…
Thanks for starting this thread Jacki!

I always thought about trying to get a Casino… but financially it was never possible for me (struggling musician and all, LOL). I think I’d actually prefer a ES 335 though – red, like Blackmore played up to around 1970.

John and George’s Casinos were really interesting. The had the less common dog-eared P-90 pickups. John played that Casino well beyond his Beatles days!

Member29/02/2020 at 14:24 in reply to: Some famous musicians behind their Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitarsThe interesting thing about George’s 360-12 is that it was the second prototype produced by Rickenbacker (the first was presented to country singer Suzi Arden) and presented to George as a gift prior to a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show… and used extensively throughout A Hard Days Night. You’ll notice that George’s 360-12 is different from a production model in that the top is squared and bound, while the production model that followed has the top rounded to the sides. Roger McGuinn purchased his because he so admired George’s sound!

By the way… did you all know that John Lennon’s 325 was not originally black? When he purchased it, it was a natural finish, which you can see in early pictures. He took it apart and painted it black around 1962.

Member29/02/2020 at 01:23 in reply to: What songs out there in Song Infinity World moves you the most and/or funny?!I just thought of the song that actually moves me the most: Empty Garden by Sir Elton John! Never have the words to a song had such emotion – pain, anger, sadness… all at the same time too! I weep every time I hear it. “It’s funny how one insect can damage so much grain.” I remember that Elton was absolutely crushed when John Lennon was assassinated – they were such close and dear friends! John Lennon’s murder remains one of the saddest days of my life, and Empty Garden always reminds me of that sadness!
Hey…. Mona and Lisa… That may be a good song for you to cover.
