    Hi Joe,

I think we’ve played with about 15 different drummers over the years and about half as many bassists 🙂 In Austria and the UK we usually had 1 or 2 bassists and drummers who played the majority of our gigs with a lot of other talented musicians who would fill in whenever needed.

Sometimes musicians moved away, had other stuff going on or we preferred or tried out different lineups. It kept us on our toes and it always slightly changed the sound and dynamics on stage. Everyone has their own unique style and we’ve been lucky to work with a bunch of great guys over the years.

    Hi Jerry,
We hope everything is groovy ♥

We probably won’t be making any DVDs again. Licensing cover songs for video is very tedious and expensive and the medium itself isn’t sought after very much anymore. So we would rather just offer the videos in the Club for streaming as well as post them on YouTube, Facebook etc. and concentrate on new projects instead.

We hope that’s not too disappointing!

    Hi Bill,
“No More Worries Company” has a unique story, different to all the other songs on ORANGE. It is actually a song that Dad wrote back in the 80ies and used to be called “No More Working Company”.

Dad has recorded plenty of songs in the past and that one was always our favourite so we wanted to include it on the album 🙂 The lyrics and arrangement all got a revamp but the basic idea, melody and song structure stayed the same.

THANKS, we’re glad you like it! We’re also really happy with how it turned out, especially Dad’s grandiose honky-tonk piano 🙂

    Have a lovely day!
    Mona

    Hi Kenny,

Thanks, we’re glad you enjoyed the Giveaway! Yes, that is actually something we will definitely consider, especially for the Club. We have offered limited edition handwritten lyrics for sale in the Club before and people seemed to really like them. We will do special edition runs like that again with photos, lyrics etc.
Also, all Club members get the posters from our webshop signed as one of the perks of being here 🙂 We were thinking of printing new posters soon but for now you can find all available ones here: https://test2.monalisa-twins.com/product-category/accessories-monalisa-twins/

We’ll always keep you updated on any specials through the MLT Club Wire ♥

Thanks for the input and have a groovy day!

Aww, thanks Rick for the sweet words ♥

Regarding covering The Beatles’ Oh Darling: It’s not that high up on our “potential covers” list but we love it dearly! Paul’s vocals are terrific and unless we find a way to interpret the song in an authentic way we’ll continue to admire it from afar 😉

    Groovy greetings,
    Mona & Lisa

Got it. Yes, looks like there are some troubles with the permalinks.
    Thanks for reporting 🙂

    Haha good question, Nathan!

We’ve done some Who, Stones and Cream songs over the years but we don’t really have that classic hard rock kind of voice that comes to mind with bands like Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath etc. (if that’s the kind of stuff you are referring to). We might go a bit heavier from time to time, also with our original songs, but when it comes to covers, classic hard-rock isn’t really our go-to genre. But you never know 🙂

15/09/2020 at 15:54 in reply to: How Do You Build A Song?

    Hi Dale,

That really is different for every song. Sometimes we start off with a rough idea of what we want the song and lyrics to be about and build the music around it, while sometimes we have a nice melody or chord progression in mind that we then try to find good words to. Sometimes a guitar lick or bass line comes first, sometimes it’s a catchy phrase.

Normally we pass songs around between the three of us (Mona, Lisa, Papa Rudi) whenever we get stuck with one aspect. Sometimes it helps to work on something with a fresh perspective.
So there really hasn’t been a go-to formula so far or a sequence of steps that has been used more often than others. It might make for a less exciting answer to that question but it is what it is 🙂

    What a fantastic clip!

I can’t believe we’ve never seen this so thanks for sharing it with us. There is so much mutual respect in this video, it was wonderful to witness.
I’ll show this to Dad too, for sure 🙂

    Hi Lynn!

Lisa is the better lead guitar player, and while I theoretically could have learned all the solo guitar parts, it would have taken me much longer and would have never sounded that good 🙂 I’ve always focused more on rhythm guitar (and started off with drums) so we can play together. So in the case of guitars, it has less to do with taste and more to do with skill whereas when it comes to our vocals, “skill” doesn’t play that much into it.

Hope that makes sense and thanks for the question ♥

    Hey Rick,

That’s a Wazinator Stompbox – the Classic KSB319 🙂 They are made by a small company in Australia and are everything you want from a stompbox. They produce a natural, woody and predictable tone and it’s definitely the best I’ve come across so far.

We’ve used it for acoustic shows quite a lot and of course in many of our Duo Sessions. Here is their website if you’re interested: https://wazinator.com/

    I hope you’re well!

We don’t really have a “hands off” rule between the two of us. Family is exempt from that 😉

    Hi Bill,

We sang “You’ve Got A Friend” with our vocal teacher at a little farewell party before leaving for our student exchange to Australia back in 2009. It was such a sweet moment but so far the only time we’ve tackled any of her music.

Her albums are on quite regularly in our house but it’s not necessarily the music we feel drawn to when it comes to cover choices. I don’t think we’ll be recording any Carol King songs anytime soon but appreciate the suggestion! 🙂

    Hi Rick,
We usually tweak the colours and overall look to fit whatever song we’re performing. I lifted the shadows a touch to give it more of a retro look. Well spotted 🙂
    Take care and stay groovy!

    Hi David,

We’re flattered, thanks for that sweet hello! Welcome to the Club community and we hope this space brings you joy. 🙂

It’s hard to know how to react to such big compliments but just know that it means the world to us. There is no better feeling than knowing what we do can brighten some else’s day. So thanks a lot!

Stay groovy and all the best to St. Louis!
