Hi Mike,
Good questions…
1) Well, it really depends on the situation. Whenever it’s a particularly important or big show, an unusual crowd, a new setlist or a more out-of-the-ordinary gig, yes, there are nearly always some nerves involved. People normally say that they couldn’t tell but of course you will know yourself.
The hot face, the heavy fingers and that 😉 Normally that feeling quickly goes away after a few minutes of being on stage but there have been times when things didn’t go smoothly, like a messed up stage sound or some other technical difficulties that make it harder to get into the zone leaving you feel on edge for bigger parts of the show. Not a fan of those kind of nerves as I then get upset with myself for feeling anxious which normally only makes me feel even more anxious.
So yes, stage fright happens, but rarely lasts longer than a few minutes into the set 🙂2) Yes, and it’s probably one of the most addictive things about being a musician. But it’s nearly always a group effort that seems to elevate everyone in the room. If the band plays well, if the audience is loving it, if you are giving your best and it all falls into place. It’s a type of energy you can’t reproduce in a rehearsal room, at least not in its entirety but it’s a great experience to then take that off stage and hopefully into the recording studio later. You learn a lot from pushing and transcending your boundaries on stage.

Administrator03/01/2019 at 11:41 in reply to: Have you ever or almost forgotten lyrics onstage?!The better question would be if there has even been a performance where we didn’t forget the lyrics at some point 😉 It happens all the time but we tend to just repeat a different verse or line or make up some new lyrics to try and hide the fact we’ve got the memory of a goldfish.
Weirdly enough we’re both having less trouble with lengthy, wordy lyrics as they normally have a good storyline that you can follow and remember easily. It’s the repetitive ones where maybe only a few words or lines keep changing that always get us. Less obvious if you’re singing on your own but as we often sing harmonies … well, it’s quite obvious if two people try to make up new lyrics on the fly 🙂

Glad it worked and we also wish you all the best for the holiday season!

Oh, I see. That won’t work. It’s 261 Mbyte. That is huge. I would recommend uploading it to YouTube or Vimeo if you have an account and posting the link here.

Jacki, do you know how big it is? Maybe I can raise the upload limit at our host. But I have to tell them what we need.

Hi Rick,
Whenever we will expand the Club with new ideas, features, videos, etc. we will first post about it on the Clubhouse page and send out an MLT Club Wire 🙂 -
Hi Cal, I already fixed it earlier today. Thank you for letting us know!

Hi Rick
The image is supposed to represent what we feel like our MLT Club would look like in real life. It’s not an actual place and like Thomas explained beautifully, it’s simply a whole lot of video editing magic. Green screen and some tweaking in Adobe After Effects. Then we added a bit of background noise and voilá 🙂
We’d love to know where the actual photo (which we edited to fit our vision even more) was taken, looks like a cozy place!
Also about the “who answers questions first” situation. We are working on changing the “Ask MLT” section so that this will no longer be an issue and that only we will be able to answer questions here first. Unfortunately, the forum settings don’t allow us to do that at the moment but we’re on the case. Of course, that’s not because we don’t value everyone’s input but because it would keep this part of the forum a bit neater and easily scannable.
With us concentrating more on the Advent Calendar lately we didn’t have time to get back to all the comments and forum posts yet but we promise to catch up soon and make some useful changes to this part of the forum.

We should have probably added the forum rule: Never ever, under no circumstances, life and death situations included, mention or god forbid SING “Rudolf the red nose reindeer” to Dad.
If you treasure your own life’s safety we suggest you pretend you never even had this idea …PS: The same goes for “A Message To You Rudy” 😉

Hi Howard,
I have to admit, I think I first saw that joke on some silly internet pic and it just stuck with me 😉
We’re happy to hear you’re enjoying the advent calendar! Only 10 days left but we’ve still got a lot of different little surprises in stock(ing). -
You’re the first we’ve heard from who got the card in America so we’re glad they are making their way over the pond!
We appreciate the kind wishes back and all of us say a big thank you!

Haha, believe it or not but we used this version to help us figure out some of the harmony parts as some things were easier to make out in this version than the original ;-D

I’m glad you liked our beatboxing addition to Maxwell’s Silver Hammer!
We already had the guitars recorded for that song when we decided to add some “percussion” later on. We were talking through different ideas and “singing” them out loud while listening to the track when we eventually decided to just record them like that. It sounded cool and saved us the hassle of setting up the drum kit too, which was a bonus 😉
Lisa and I do a lot of “describing of musical instrument parts” by singing them when we’re in the studio or practising. “Can you do a boom-da-boom-pagadaga-pow fill there?”
Our first drum teacher might have instilled that in us, he always talked like that.
As to how I/we come up with our ideas? Playing around, listening carefully and trying things out I would say.
Thanks!

Howdy right back atcha, Jim!
Thanks for saying hi and telling us about yourself! That’s quite the awesome collection of professions, we bet that makes for an interesting life. If it keeps the banks happy too, even better 🙂
We’re glad you joined us here and say thank you!
Have a groovy day,

Administrator20/12/2018 at 17:55 in reply to: "Ask The MonaLisa Twins" forum is now moderatedI think that is not really necessary because
- Anybody can comment (“reply” – in forum lingo) after the twins answered a question and
- Anybody can create topics in “General Discussion”
So if you like to discuss a certain aspect of a question or anything else feel free to open a topic in “General Discussion”.
