    Howard,
Sometimes things not showing immediately can be due to browser caching problems, handled differently by each browser, also depending on personal settings. Or maybe a temporarily slow internet connection with your mobile phone, so that the post didn’t get submitted immediately. Next time maybe give it a bit more time, because the SUBMIT button works, and it WILL get posted once pressed.

    Hi Alan and Robert!
Great question and thanks for the compliments. How we come up with the initial idea for each video is a little different every time. For some videos we make whole storyboards and have each scene planned out, for others we just shoot plenty of interesting looking footage and decide on the flow and cut while editing. Sometimes it’s a combination of the two 🙂

We normally stick to simpler ideas for our covers (like filming us in the studio or while performing the song in an otherwise fitting environment), but when it comes to our own compositions we like to think of the video as part of the overall “composition”. When we record a song there is usually some sort of imagery that pops up in our heads that goes with the overall “vibe” of the song. Often we all have slightly different ideas on how exactly a song “looks” to us but the brainstorming part before a video is one of our favourite things.
We throw around ideas until we come up with a visual concept that we all think captures the music best. We also try not to repeat any past ideas. Then we think about what we need to do in order to realise that vision. Do we need actors, hire or buy new equipment, learn new filming techniques? What outfits, probs, venue are we looking for? Etc.

Normally plans still change during that “developing” process as we do our research and planning. But then we get to work with filming and editing the videos until we get sick of looking at our own faces. Hopefully by then, we’re left with a finished video 🙂

Hi Daniel! It’s quite the monster and it sounds fantastic but I wouldn’t rely on it to stay in tune for a live performance. Or at least, I wouldn’t touch the tremolo during a show 🙂 But in the studio, where you can re-tune after each take, it is perfect for adding some great and totally unique effects Like the intro to “Nothing Is in Vain” for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3JnZBz0Zro
But yes, not the most reliable when it comes to STAYING in tune.

Michaela plays the sax and similar woodwind instruments where the sound is produced by vibration of a wooden reed.

A trumpet and a horn, however, need completely different fingering and the sound is produced by vibration of the lips. So the trumpet and horn were played by dad on the keyboard, with the help of a breath controller. That is a little gadget that simulates the mouthpiece of a wind instrument and is connected via cable to the keyboard.

We have a large section of instruments covered between the four of us but occasionally we use techniques like that 🙂

Hi there, George! A warm welcome from all of us here and thanks for the really kind words!

The Drive My Car seems to have been popping up in lots of people’s recommended videos, that’s awesome! We’re actually working on a little project in relation to that song right now – it will show up in the MLT Club soon 🙂

That’s great that you got to see so many shows over the years. Which ones are the ones you’re going to next month?

I also love that vinyl is making a comeback in our generation. We dug out dad’s old one a few years ago and have been building up a little collection too … slowly but surely!

Anyway, lovely to have you here and we hope you’ll enjoy your time in the Club 🙂

Weirdly I’ve never realised that the Guess Who had played that song too (only knew the Johnny Kidd & The Pirates version) but I’m listening right now and love it – what a great, great band!

It would definitely be a really fun one to try one day, especially live. Let me add it to the ever growing list of great song suggestions 🙂 Thanks!

I want to add my “Hello” too, also in Lisa’s name. What a great age to be when the Beatles were taking over the world, we can’t help but feel a little jealous 😉 Thank you very much for joining us and we hope you’ll like it here!

Hello fellow bass player (we’re often underrated but still needed ;-)). Hope you will enjoy it here. It’s good to see the younger generation still interested in this kind of music.

And we are very glad you’re here too, thank you so much for joining! Pacific Northwest – that’s some beautiful scenery and woodlands there! Hopefully we get to visit (and play!) there one day.

For now, greetings back from Liverpool!

  • I took your question a bit further and quickly made up my imaginary dream festival. I’d wanna jam with ALL of them!  😉 I created a template so you can all make your own (maybe start a thread in the General Discussion Tab?). You can download it here.

Feel free to share wherever you want!

For mine, I stuck to a 60’s/ early 70’s theme here and I still would need at least 10 more slots to fit in all my favourites but this will do for now 🙂 Obviously time travel would be necessary for most of them but a girl can dream, hey?

Looking forward to seeing your dream festivals!

    Hi Jean-marc and welcome!

Thanks for your introduction – I understood everything totally fine. I am glad you found us (and Amy!) on YouTube and that you love the 60’s music as much as we do.

We hope to visit continental France one day, so far we have only seen its highways! But we have been to Corsica once as children and LOVED it.
    Thanks for being here!

Thanks for translating Lisa’s reply Michael!

We want to keep this forum primarily English so in the future we’ll add a translation ourselves in cases like this one. It’s more fun for all that way 🙂

As mentioned, Blau Himmel (Blue Sky) basically asked if we would ever considering doing live concert streams and we said that it’s something we’ve thought about a lot and is definitely a possibility.

More updates on that when we’ve finished some of the more pressing projects and deadlines! We’ll definitely look into Stageit.com.

Groovy doesn’t really have its own word in German but most people would get what you mean if you used the English version. We use “that grooves” ( = das groovt) a lot amongst German musicians, which would be used instead of “that’s groovy”. 🙂

  • Thanks for all your comments, and we agree to everything you all said here. We also appreciate you reaching an understanding without us stepping in immediately to regulate everything.

To address the other things you brought up:

As for policy, we do have one, with everything included that you listed, incl. keeping the language and content clean, as we have and want to have members of all age groups and backgrounds.

We also don’t have more and less intimate fans. So if someone gives the impression he would know more than what you can read about MLT or from MLT online, you know this is wishful thinking. We do not prioritise people over others, and we are thankful for any contribution someone makes. Individuality is wonderful and encouraged, the egos can be left in the cloakroom 😉

Great ears, Tim. Yes, we did some re-mixing. Especially on the tracks you mentioned. Mixing for YouTube videos is a slightly different approach than for CD or high quality online streaming. The CD’s are less compressed with more dynamics. Proud to have such keen listeners that appreciate the difference …
