  • Jung, I’m really enjoying this thread. The MLT Club needed to have it’s own Beatles section. I heard this one on my truck radio heading home last night. One of the best Rock n Roll tracks ever. This video isn’t quite the same as the original 45 but I really like it. I love the Twins version of this song too. Mona could have been a Rock goddess if she wanted but she has so much more to offer. https://youtu.be/BGLGzRXY5Bw?feature=shared

  • Jung, I think David is onto something here. Millions of people love the big Beatles hits as much as I do but there are those Beatles album cuts and B sides that we can single out as a favorite song that seems a bit more personal, like a little gem that everyone else overlooks. I always think of John as the rocker and Paul as the more melodic Beatle, but Paul could certainly rock out with the best of them when he wanted. Here’s one of my favorite album cuts from Let it Be where Paul turns it up a little. https://youtu.be/fTZ804WxpGg?feature=shared

  • Jung, you are asking the impossible question. What is my favorite Beatles song?, I couldn’t even pick one favorite off of one side of one album. I am an old Rock n Roll fan so I would have to pick one that really rocked, but that isn’t easy either. I’m picking this one just because it was great when I first heard it maybe 60 years ago and it is just as good today. A lot of bands have done this and it’s really not a Beatles song but no one has ever sung it better than John Lennon. https://youtu.be/xcdwr9RCg2A?feature=shared

  • Chris, A Day In The Life is an outstanding track, definitely one of their best. It’s one of those studio tracks you have to listen to through a good pair of headphones with the lights down and your eyes closed. I think it was 2 different songs, a John song and a Paul song blended together. I don’t know who’s idea it was to put them together but it was a genius idea.

  • I love John’s voice on this one too. I can understand why they broke up and love a lot of their solo work but man, there music as a band was only getting better, and that is saying a lot.

Yeah JP, that is some good stuff. She is an amazing musician. I love watching the girls play almost as much as I like listening to what they are playing. I know what you mean about the gems you find in the club and this is certainly one of those gems.

Jung, that performance is just amazing. I always like Mike’s smile at 00:58 when Mona and Lisa first join in. I think he knows that something really special is coming. It sounds fantastic coming out of my computer speakers, I can’t imagine sitting in the theatre listening to those harmonies. The bass is pretty good too.

JP, I like this one, Mona is playing that nylon stringed Cordoba guitar that Lisa uses a lot in the Duo Sessions recordings. Another thing I like about this video is that it is clearly a live recording done in one take. It makes me feel like I am sitting in the studio listening to them play. I can’t wait for the livestream on Sunday. Anyone have ideas on what songs we might hear?

Jung, Mona’s performance on this song is stellar indeed and that tone Lisa has on her Gretsch is just insane. This is a rocker for sure.

I’ve been learning a lot about Joe Osborn since this post. From documentaries and interviews I learned he played on at least 100 top 40 records and even more than 100 on the country charts once he moved to Nashville. He played on hits with Ricky Nelson, The Carpenters, Mamas and Papas, 5th Dimension and many more. Today I learned he played on one of my favorite albums from my childhood. One of my older brothers had the Johnny Rivers album “Live at the Whiskey Go Go. I thought it was the coolest album ever at the time and just loved the bass guitar through all the great tracks. Here’s one of the tracks I loved with a groovy bassline. https://youtu.be/gqjx7huJLwI?feature=shared

JP, Thanks for posting that. I knew they had appeared on probably every variety show of that time and was quite sure they had their own show too. Good to know my brain did retain some memory of the 70’s.

David, I was thinking about this after I left the last comment. You hear so much about the tragic lives of so many celebrities do to drugs, infidelity or whatever and you never hear about the ones that had great careers and also led positive and honorable lives. People like Billy and Marilyn should be the ones honored by the media as role models.

Hi David, That’s a great interview, I’ve watched a few of his videos on his channel. I never heard that story before, pretty amazing how it happened. I love Marilyn and Billy’s attitude, so pleasant and upbeat. That really is one of the greatest songs of all time. If it was used on The Simpson’s it had to be great.

Hi Jung, that’s one of my favorite Beach Boys songs too. I don’t know if I ever shared this cover of that song but I like it and hope you do too. I discovered Josh Turner a couple years ago by listening to Reina Del Cid’s covers, she often collaborates with Josh and some of his friends. I like Josh’s guitar playing and singing but I especially like the fact that he is always having fun and they cover a lot of the songs that I’ve always liked. I hope you enjoy it. The guy playing the bass does a good job too. https://youtu.be/Xy1nPA9tBjQ?feature=shared
