Nice pictures Keith, made iconic by the Any Other Day video. Beautiful place to have a wedding, all they are missing is a flute player.

Maybe my first choice of a Lisa song is Vincent. Lisa delivers this with such passion, I have listened to it many times and have not got through it without a tear. It’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard sung by anyone. It’s hard to type with eyes full of tears but this is something special.

Nothing spectacular just the Canadian Pacific Railways Holiday Train stopping in Sparta WI tonight. They have been coming through for around 10 years. They stop and do a show for about 20 minutes or so. I’ve gone in the past but didn’t go tonight. My niece to these photos. I think they make the trip across the northern part of the US and then make the return trip across southern Canada. It’s a nice thing they do and usually draws a good crowd.

Sometimes it’s the reactions of the crowd that makes a great live performance. I love this live album of AC/DC but the videos are incredible, a huge crowd enjoying every note. Kind of bittersweet though for me seeing Malcolm Young jamming knowing he was suffering from the early symptoms of dementia and his career was nearing it’s end. Anyway a great performance from the band and crowd in River Plate Argentina.

Happy Holidays to you Leif and all the MLT Club. The Christmas season begins in my small Wisconsin town when it opens the Kriskindlmarkt. It’s a small village of German styled shops plus a band stage that sells food, beverages and many gifts and crafts. It’s the center of activity every weekend leading up to Christmas.

Jung, here’s an old song I remember that has a good bass track but not so much by the bass guitar but by the bass vocals. I remember two records by Australian mega star Olivia Newton John that featured a bass singer, this one and If You Love Me Let Me Know. I did a little search to find the singer Mike Sammes recorded the vocals for these two records. Interesting note, his group The Mike Sammes singers also recorded background vocals for The Beatles “I Am The Walrus”, “Good Night” and did vocals on the Let It Be album. Besides a few popular quartet singing groups like The Oak Ridge Boys or The Statler Brothers, I really can’t think of many pop songs that feature a bass singer. It maybe an interesting area to explore. Anyways, here’s a good recording of Olivia’s song “Let Me Be There”.

That’s beautiful Jurgen, not hard to get into the Christmas spirit watching that.

Jurgen, that’s really cool. I like all that miniature modelling stuff. They really go to extremes to make all the scenes look so real. So much creativity and detail.

Hey Chris, I have experience trimming Christmas trees. A local tree farmer used to hire teenagers to trim his trees. He had over 400 acres of trees in several different fields. It was a great part time job for a school kid that needed gas money. I wonder how many teenagers you could get these days to trim trees for $3.00 an hour?

Johnnypee, I agree with what you are saying about those songs. I love Mona singing Everybody’s Talking, never really cared for Nillson’s version much but with Mona singing it I really enjoy it. Then when Lisa joins in on the harmonies it takes it to an even higher level. Another one that fits your description is Catch The Wind. Lisa sings the first verse so beautiful and when Mona comes in on the second verse it is something special, I just close my eyes and absorb it. There’s just so many different vocal arrangements they do that are amazing. I love Mona singing the lead on Lola but when Lisa sings those really high harmonies, my god, that is superstar level stuff. I have no doubt each one would do a wonderful job as a solo artist but as a duo they are untouchable.

Roger, of course you are right. Like I said, their super power is them playing and singing together. Their harmonies are the best I’ve ever heard and they don’t always do they same harmonies. Sometimes Lisa is high and sometimes Mona is high. Sometimes one is singing lead and the other singing harmony. Sometimes they are both singing lead together. I have no doubt each one could be a star on their own but playing together I think they are the best I’ve ever heard. I like your choices too. There are several Roy Orbison songs I would love to hear them do.

Singapore looks very festive. I would love to experience that landslide of snow. I hope it is artificial snow. That car is pretty cool too. One year, shortly after Christmas we had a big snowstorm. Me and my brother Rod went to the city brush dump and hauled a bunch of the used Christmas trees back to his place and stuck them in the snow banks. We landscaped his driveway, his walks and around his house, it was beautiful, Lol. On his birthday in February we had a bonfire and burned all the trees. Just one of the crazy things we poor people did for entertainment before the internet.

Jung, yeah it is really cool, The whole train is lit up. They stop the stage car on the crossing, drop the door and put on a show for 20-30 minutes. They have a Santa that mingles in the crowd. Canadian Pacific also donates a good sized check to the local food pantry. They stop in a lot of small towns across the northern US and Canada.

That’s a good story, I like seeing the graffiti painted on the box cars passing through. There are some very good spray can artists out there. I can’t think of a better name for a railroad than Grand Funk. I was just thinking about train songs too. I think my favorites are Train, Train by Blackfoot and I like Mystery Train by Elvis.

Chris, it was headed west into the Dakotas and then into western Canada. It started in Maine so I’m not sure if it came through Michigan. I did find out there are two trains, One going across the US and western Canada and the other stays in Canada.
