Thanks to all of you for the good wishes. I don’t like to preach but if you smoke QUIT NOW. I quit 25 years ago but once the damage is done, it’s done. You DO NOT want to go through what I just did.

Back to the original topic please.

I’m 62 so I’m closing in. Hopefully. Just got out of the hospital Sunday after spending a week in for a collapsed lung. Needed surgery. You do NOT want to go through what I did, absolutely brutal. MLT’s music once again helping me through it all.

That is GREAT news Jung! Thanks for that info! The Epstein theater was closed recently. Very sad. See:

Great story Josh and all my best to that patient. When I “discovered” the girls 2 years ago I was having a few health issues myself (not addiction related, never did drugs and not into alcohol) and they helped me to get through things as well. They just brightened my days tremendously. It was the best medicine I ever got out of all the medicine I was taking at the time!

It’s not magic but it’s real close!

This Covid thing has closed a TON of businesses in the U.S. and I’m sure elsewhere. I hope the Cavern can weather this storm, it would be a shame to see it close even though it’s not the original or even in the exact original spot. I know it’s close to where it was originally. I’ve always wanted to visit England and go to Liverpool and see the Cavern. I’ll probably never get the chance but I hope there can be some way to contribute to keeping them open. Hopefully Liverpool will do whatever it can to keep it from closing. We already lost it once, let’s not do that again.

If I remember right Lisa is only 5 minutes older than Mona. I’m still not picking a favorite! How can you?!

    Howard,

Thanks for the detailed reply. There is enough controversy in the world, we certainly don’t need any more. I was also a very early joiner of the club here but I try to restrain myself and not go too crazy. This is supposed to be fun after all. Sometimes “biting your tongue” is the best idea. I hope Tim is well.

Howard is Tim no longer a member or did he pass away? I don’t recall hearing or seeing anything.

I’m in the Mid-Hudson valley of N.Y., about halfway between NYC and Albany. Poughkeepsie.

Back in my drumming days (the 70’s to mid 80’s) I could have used an SUV, I stuffed a huge drum set into a green 65 Buick Regal! 22″ bass drum, 8 concert toms, a snare, 18″ floor tom and umpteen cymbals. What a PITA loading and unloading those!

My roots are of course Beatles and all 60’s and 70’s rock for the most part with some 50’s thrown in on the side. I was a jeans and t-shirt guy as well, nothing ever fancy. I never liked dressing up, I just never felt comfortable. Seeing me in a suit is as rare as hen’s teeth!

” I tended to avoid the fads back then……..never had a leisure suit, a pet rock, never went to a disco…..always had on blue jeans and a t-shirt in summer and in the winter the shirt would have been a flannel shirt. Till next time. ”

    Hi Mike,

You sound like me! Good for you! I never followed the fads, trends, etc. I never cared what was “Cool” or “hip”. When the rock clubs all turned to discos that was the end of my nights out unless a major band I liked was playing our civic center or the one rock club that stayed true to itself.

To this day I have never been in a Starbucks. I’ve never owned an SUV.

“I am, I’m me” as the song says!

60’s and 70’s TV were my favorites! Still are! I had so many crushes growing up as a kid, Caroline Ellis “Joy” from the Bugaloos, Dawn Wells from Gilligan’s Island, Ellie May from the Beverly Hillbillies, Barbara Eden, Mary Tyler Moore, the list goes on and on! LOL! Great comedy back then and great crime dramas like the Rockford Files, Mannix, etc. variety shows too!  I miss those days of TV.

Yup the 60’s is still my favorite decade of all! So glad I grew up during it. I can listen to that stuff all day, every day. Look at all those great songs! Did any of you ever get the Time-Life 60’s collection? I love it. There’s also the “Super sounds of the 70’s” collection from Rhino which is pretty good (except for the disco stuff, ICK!).

I totally agree! Karen Carpenter to me is the greatest female vocalist of all time. Talk about RANGE! I had such a crush on her growing up and was devastated when she died. And there are a number of amazing female singers! Dusty Springfield, Judith Durham, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar for examples. I’m a rock & roll guy but LOVE her voice so much.
