The ORANGE Year
It was a juicy one. Regarding our music, we’ve never felt more explorative and creative. Everything we had envisioned for our second original album “ORANGE” seemed to come together in ways that we are still really proud of.
There were lots of nerves involved too: The anticipation of the release for one, or John Sebastian (from the Lovin’ Spoonful) playing on a couple of our tracks. He even flew over from the States to record a music video with us!
That was one of those typical“ask better questions and you get better answers” moments. We knew it was highly unlikely that one of our favourite songwriters would come to England on such short notice, just to film a music video with us. But we also knew that even if the odds weren’t that great, we still had to ask. After all, we couldn’t have him playing on the tracks and then not include him in our music video, right?
He agreed, we planned his trip and boom – there he was! After three days of jamming, chatting and recording we were left with memories and creations we’ll always look back on with a smile.
As you might also be able to tell from the pictures, we got a lot more into photography in the year 2017. Learning more about the technical aspects, trying out ideas for the heck of it. Taking that bloody camera everywhere.
It was also the year we really changed our overall lifestyle and got into nutrition and fitness. Not sure if you are able to tell in the pictures but we started taking better care of our bodies after abusing them with late night trips to McDonalds more often than we’d like to admit. We started running, working out, even lifting weights. And it stuck! Running? For fun? Eating Kale and enjoying it? A year full of surprises!
Through lots of research and proper nutrition we all managed to get rid of small symptoms before they would turn into something nasty over the years. We regained a lot of energy and put it right into creating all things ORANGE.
We would call this year very rocky but also rich in absolute milestones that we count amongst our dearest, most profound moments of our lives so far.
As cheesy as it might sound, it was as if a new part of ourselves was being unlocked, new realisations, a much clearer focus and more defined vision developed of what it is we’re working towards. We hope this shows in our music and possibly also the images we’ve collected over the year 🙂 Enjoy!
