For me – the beautiful resonance musically, of this song and also their song “Questionable” – with the Beatles middle period, is a joy to behold.

Love the clever, witty lyrics to this song, together with an equally amusing video.
Its good sometimes to poke fun at, and make light of, the darker sides of life, like power, greed and corruption. In a lighthearted way, this song is a reminder that these things are all too prevalent around the world.

A very clever and funny song and the video is a hoot.

A great song and an excellent video 🙂
However, while many people seem to perceive this song as a satirical view of the real world (which well may be, since music often is inspired by real events), for me the song has a quite personal allusion. It describes incredible well some crazy, but important ideas I’ve had for some time. Judging by the popularity of the song, it looks like those ideas are more popular that I would’ve expected. And listening to those ideas in the form of a great song has helped me to look at them in a whole different way, more profound.
Musically, a great song; but with lyrics that resonate so deep with my own thoughts, I definitely underpay for this little piece of art.
Thank you, Mona & Lisa for making this great song!

The song itself is excellent but when combined with the music video it becomes perfection. An absolute spot-on takedown of our current world situation. Plus, it’s catchy as all get-out. Nice work!

Love this song, I could listen to y’all sing any time (and do).

    Pandemics explained?
    Thanks, lovely Girls…

This wonderful song fits into the “truth hurts” category! I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry. However, I am glad that orange juice is on the shopping list.

  10. Gary Petrinka

    Great song

  11. Richard Raighn (verified owner)

This is just another great song by Mona And Lisa And the video is just fun to watch. Great job girls!

This song is so musically brilliant, even after 6 months since I first listened to it at the MLT Club back in July, it captivates me and makes my soul rock to it’s irresistible melody. The song is ingenious expressing a truth about society and todays political climate that will resonate with people for ages to come. Mona and Lisa are true artists of the highest caliber using their craft to express and articulate in a song so eloquently exactly what people are feeling though they couldn’t express it themselves.

I Bought Myself A Politician attests to the masterful songwriting prowess of MLT. A song is great and remarkable when it has the power to keep drawing you back to it like this.????✨????❤

I’m glad to have this song to add to my collection! When I saw the video, I couldn’t help but be entertained by the whole thing. You have a great sense of humor, and every time I watch it, I smile and laugh at so many parts of it! Great song and video!

This song is how I discovered/found you. I was watching the best ‘misinformation’ I could find on gootube and there you were, suggested in the suggestions.
Finally! A way to stay sane in this shemozzle!
Spot on lyrics. It has been said that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Your work (and that of Vernon Coleman) prove that it doesn’t have to be. Love it.
Great production of both the music and the video. I can hear every instrument and every voice in the mix. Nothing to loud, soft or misplaced. Nothing drowned in effects. All well played, sung and recorded. Nothing that sounds artificial or fake.
I don’t need to read the lyrics; I can hear them perfectly. A rare thing, these days.
This world is gonna beat the s**t out of all of us pretty soon. This song will become more and more pertinent with time and will stand the test of time.
I have sent the link to the video to everyone I know in the hope that some of them will wake up. I hope that music will succeed where boring speeches and probing questions have failed.
Listening to this gives me happiness and spreading it around gives me hope.
    Thank you.

What a wonderful song. I do a show called Transister Radio on a community radio station in Devon, England. Would it be OK for me to play this on my show?

  16. Mattias (verified owner)

Wonderful and it is so great that finally some artists are taking a stand and singing about this. Van Morrison has been (almost) the only one for too long.

  17. Jody Borland

Clever, creative and loved it. Should be a hit in our current political climate. Would make a great TV show.

    • Max Dempster

This is true for Australia, the song is great and showed insight.

  18. Jenny Amanda Hurwitz

Funny smart surreal and real super fun great song and video about money in politics –

  19. Richard Kauffman

    Great work with the song.

  20. Marcus Seipelt (verified owner)

great video, beautiful song, can’t wait to hear the new album

  21. Manuel Vilar

Of course is a great song.

  22. John Ronald Darby (verified owner)

I listened to I Bought Myself A Politician in early release and eagerly waited to purchase it. Great song, great lyrics, superb video. The whole production expertly done. The MonaLisa Twins’ never disappoint.

  23. RAYMOND HALLER (verified owner)

Not only is this song catchy and reminiscent of a Beatle’s composition, it also is very lyrically timely. I am impressed with the Twin’s original compositions as with their covers. Keep up the good work.

  24. Philip Babcock (verified owner)

God bless everyone involved. Great music as usual.

The following quote is from Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and I agree 100%

“If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
    THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
    FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
    WAS MUSIC”

  25. Trevor Teasdel

Wow! Finger right on the pulse! The 60’s was the age of great protest songs. It’s fitting that the Mona Lisa Twins have helped to revive the tradition at this time. Such clever lyrics that clinch all the deals – the press, sleaze and all the lies in one song with a great video. If you are rich, don’t buy a politician, buy a million copies and get this in the mainstream. It articulates, in a fun way, what so many are thinking but can’t express. Excellent work with a nod to Ray Davies. More more more!

  26. Jonathan Walker (verified owner)

Ha! love this tune & vid. I bought the download straight away. It’s a very clever concept all round really. Shame your own songs & vids don’t get more mainstream ‘play’ – gotta work on that cos I reckon they would smash it for sure – maybe a celeb endorsement on the radio resulting in some airplay would be the way forward but hey, regardless, you guys really groove – take care & carry on team M & L – can’t wait for the album!!

  27. Allan Reeling (verified owner)

Superb musical content goes without saying. But the lyrics are so clever, in the same vogue as “Waiting For The Waiter”. You are becoming accomplished word masters and story tellers, which is what many really talented groups, and individuals, became.

  28. Philip Babcock (verified owner)

Great music as usual. God bless everyone involved.

The following quote is from Kurt Vonnegut Jr. and I agree 100%.

  29. Kenneth Blackman (verified owner)

I purchased this latest song of theirs (I bought myself a politician) and loved it, Mona is a real character, she seemed to really enjoy herself, as for the song? I loved it as well, it had that MLT sound, and Lisa sang it really well.

  30. Richard A. Gonzalez (verified owner)

Mona and Lisa, I truly love this song. The lyrics, the music and the video was done so well by you, your dad and stepmom. Great job! And I also really liked all of Mona’s costume changes. I look forward for more of your videos. Thanks!❤️❤️❤️

  31. Joey Paradis

What a surprise! You peeps have never gone political up to now. I’m not sure how to react as I wonder what inspired it. As an American observing political upheaval here I see it perhaps differently. Gotta tell ya, though, I appreciate no masks! ????

  32. Manuel Vilar

Great song. No doubt. Keep composing. Thanks.

  33. RAYMOND HALLER (verified owner)

Absolutely fabulous! The right song for the right time. Add this song to a list of great originals. Love your covers, but your originals are stand alone perfection!

  34. Wolfgang Mathis

It’s the right song at the right time – wonderful and brave MonaLisa. Phantastic tune and lyrics as well as excellent acting. Many thanks from Germany

I think George H would have loved this!

  38. Rick Mapes

Such a great song. Excellent tune and lyrics. Looking forward to the new album.

  39. Van Den Bergh

A very good song and a very funny video ! Congratulations for this work and hope it will be the first step to a brand new album ! ????

  40. Paul Kealoha-Blake

Both the sentiment and execution of this gem, is greatly appreciated here in Berkeley California. The musical arrangement is utterly compelling, making it immediately accessible to listeners. The urge to play it over and over opens the door to it becoming an
icon of the times. Superb work!

  41. Jung Roe

    This song sounds soooo goooooood!!!!!!!
It has this driving melody that just grabs and captivates and keeps building in intensity, and you don’t want it to end. It’s irresistible, and hypnotic. I want to listen to it over and over. What magical song writing! You’re doing some great stuff ladies!

  42. Alex Bennett

This is so good, after several minutes, I’m still giddy. What a wonderful achievement — pure MLT delight!!!
