About the Album
“MonaLisa and Band Live in Concert 2007” is a double CD with 24 cover songs. In 2007, at the age of 13 the MonaLisa Twins (back then called “MonaLisa and Band”) played their first big live concert where they performed a musical journey through time, starting from 1962 up to 2007. In a way that concert marked the beginning of their musical career.
“We’ve had music lessons for a couple of years before but it wasn’t until that one performance that we decided to make music more than just another hobby. The concert was held in a small hall, and we played the show two times with each about 70 people attending.”
The performance was a family project, with Mona & Lisa, their dad Rudolf and their stepmom Michaela on stage. Michaela learned to play the sax so she could support the band, just like their dad learnt to play bass and guitar. He also played the keyboard and sang a few of the songs. As usual, he did all the sound engineering and lights.
While Mona mainly played the drums and Lisa the guitar, they also changed instruments and all of them were singing lead or harmonies.

I really love this early concert cd. Beautiful music from this multi talented family and the beginning of the MonaLisa magic. The heart and soul and desire is very apparent in this live set. This is my second copy because I needed one that was signed. The first one I bought will become a gift.

On April 11, 2014, Mona and Lisa played All My Loving on BBC Radio Lancashire for Sally Nadin. I don’t want to take anything away from the ’09 version, but it was nice when Lisa came in on the high oohs at the end. I think there is an album’s worth of MLT rarities from their BBC appearances around 2014.

I have become big in the 60s – with “Friday on my mind” (even played in 1966 with the student band) and I love the music, like Mona and Lisa, who interpret this great, exciting and beautifully. They impress with the best musical work, in addition to their excellent singing also through a clean, appealing instrumentalization, like Lisas Leadguitar. My collection is now completed by your CDs. Clear recommendation.

Notes say their father learned the Bass to play along. He must have studied under McCartney. His technique is excellent, even choosing a Hofner violin bass to get the right sound. At 1st, the saxophone playing struck me as too simple, but over time, it seemed to fit in better. A seasoned player may have tried to add too much. But a few more 1/4 and 1/6th notes would have added value. That said, it’s better than I ever got playing my clarinet. I never got the feel to improvise until I traded it in on a guitar.

These girls are amazing and so talented. This double CD shows what a talent they were at the early age of 13 and also how confident they were to put on this concert and cover so many classic songs. What I also love about them is the love and faith (and sacrifices) shown in them by Rudi and Michaela, which I am sure is a major part of their progression. Mona & Lisa – keep on doing what you believe in because many of us also believe in you.

I accidentally ordered this twice. My fault, not theirs. I’ll keep one in the car and one at home. As to the content: an amazing album from what were then a pair of 13 years old twins and their parents. The variety and range of music is exceptional, and all recorded live. One of the best live performances I’ve ever heard. The instrumental ability of these girls was high class even back then, and their vocals are downright angelic. You’ll enjoy this.

As a latecomer to the treasure trove of MonaLisa Twins work, I had quite a backlog of material to catch up on and couldn’t understand how I had managed to miss out on ten years of their creativity. Well I have certainly made up for it since and am now the proud owner of all their CDs, DVD, vinyl and much more from their online store. I guess the MLT journey starts with this concert from 2007, when the Twins were just 13 years of age. I don’t need to review the full album as there is already a fairly comprehensive one from Tim, well worth the read.
However, I must add that I particularly enjoy their cover of ‘Mr Tambourine Man’, with the beautiful harmonies of the Twins, their Papa, and their Stepmum and the perfect guitar work of Lisa. I also love Lisa’s inspiring and passionate rendition of ‘I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker’ which is just so convincing in its sincerity, backed up by amazing percussion from Mona and Rudolf. Mona also shows her drumming skills, vocal authority and enthusiasm on ‘Twist and Shout’.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard ‘Der Kommissar’ before and although I can’t understand the lyrics, it’s nice to hear the Twins singing this unusual treat in their native language. I would love to see a video of this performance!
If you are just discovering the MLT, this is a fantastic disc to start your collection with.

Thought I would write this review as I listen to the CD:
Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door is really a terrific start to this CD. Obviously, the singing is terrific – this is the MonaLisa Twins, afterall- but the sax by Michaela adds a lot to this version.
Wonderful Tonight by Clapton demonstrates how amazing Lisa is on guitar! And her vocals shine as well. I think at this stage, Lisa is more confident and upfront than Mona but with both of them- It’s hard to believe they are 13! Once again the sax by Michaela adds a tremendous depth to make the song very mature. I like it a lot better than the original- though I have to admit I’m never a fan of Eric’s vocals. Mona’s drumming is perfect.
Der Kommissar is playing now and I’m amazed. This song is amazing!! There’s not a video version of this on YouTube so I don’t know who is singing and when- but WOW!! It sounds terrific!! Great bass. So spirited. One of my favorite songs. I assume this is German and the girls sing it beautifully!!
Back to Life may be an original- I’ve never heard it before. This is my first listen. Love the harmonies. Good job, girls!
Tears in Heaven is another Clapton song and once again, I love what the Twins did with this one. Go Girls and Go Michaela! I don’t know if I’ve given Rudi all the credit he deserves. This is a live CD and everything is so perfectly clear- he has done a fantastic job with the engineering and production!
One is the next song and I’m not familiar with it. It is sung by Rudi and I like it fine on first listen. I’ll give it more listens later and I’m sure I’ll like it even better. But good job, Rudi!
Stand By Me is next and what a strange opening! The Twins are doing an amazingly interesting arrangement of this. I hate it when everything sounds just like what you’ve heard a thousand times before- this one certainly doesn’t! I’ve got to say it- I love this album!
Aufstehn! is next and I love to hear the girls sing in German! I don’t like this as quite as much as The Commisioner but like it I do. This gives the band an added authenticity I’ve never heard before as they embrace their Austrian roots.
I really enjoy I Wish I was a Punk Rocker. Neat lyrics and likely a strong, honest feeling by these young girls. Love the drums by Mona!
Goodbye My Lover is another song I don’t recognize. Love the piano by Rudi and the vocals are excellent. Song sounds much older. Great job!
Don’t want to imply that I’m not familiar with most of the versions of these songs. I’ve listened to most of them on YouTube and Twist and Shout is amazing! Mona does such a spirited version of the vocals! and Lisa’s lead guitar and harmonies are just what you’d expect. I love this version!
From John to Paul, All My Loving is awesome! Hear Rudi’s harmony vocals on this and just love it.
Fantastic CD!! I’m going to stop my review here because by now you certainly know I think this is well worth the $14.46 download charge. Who knew this would be this good!!

I’ve wanted to do a review of this deserving album for a long time, so here goes.
If you are a MonaLisa Twins fan or are just getting into their music, this is a must have album. They cover a super wide variety of pop/rock music from different genre’s from the early 60’s right through to modern music (2007). Mona and Lisa are only 13 years old here in 2007, and their awesome singing, harmony and musical talent just shine like a bright gem. Their voices work together so naturally in glorious harmony and counterpoint backing each other up in every song. You can hear it so well in Love is all Around Me, Proud Mary, Tambourine Man, Wild World, Back to Life, Stand By Me just to mention a few.
In All My Loving it’s Mona, Lisa, and father Rudolph harmonizing so wonderfully. It’s “ The MonaLisa Twins and Dad” in perfect harmony 🙂
They bring to life some modern songs too in spectacular fashion. For example “Aufstehn” is a cover of a hit German song from 2005 and the girls sound brilliant singing this in German and English. Mona and Lisa’s version of this song blows away the original version by the group Seeed (no surprise there). Just makes you want to stand up and dance. Back to Life, Stand By Me, Der Kommissar, and I wish I was a Punk Rocker are also so wonderful and powerful. Their voices sound just magical together like a force of nature.
Loved Mona on the drums and singing “Twist and Shout”, so absolutely cool!! And Lisa’s lead vocal on Knocking on Heaven’s Door, Wonderful Tonight, Tears in Heaven and many others throughout are just delightful, and there is the girls incredibly moving and soothing guitar playing in Santana’s Samba Pa Ti!.
In Aint No Sunshine you are treated to the whole family playing. Father Rudi’s spectacular solo on the keyboard, followed by Mona’s breathtaking solo on the drums, and then the awesome sax playing by step mum Michaela with Lisa singing so wonderfully throughout.
So what are you waiting for? This is an album you will be playing over and over again because it’s so delightful. Would make a perfect accompaniment to the Orange Album released exactly 10 years later.

So talented at age 13. It was by accident when i discoverd the monalisa twins. 5 years ago I was searching on you/tube for the troggs classic ,,love is all around,, On the same page i noticed the monlisa twins with the same song. Never heard of the sisters,so i decided to check it out. The rest is history. They were and stil are for me the best new talent i,ve seen in decades. Singing with amazing harmonies, playing several instruments and good songwriting, they have it all. I love the covers but also their original songs. No doubt:Over the years the development and improvement is cristel clear! Now i have al their cd,s and placed an order for the new cd ,,Orange,, I am 66 years old and grew up in the sixtees and seventees when there was amazing music, so i love their choice for music. Thanks to the parents i guess. These girls know what good music is all about, that,s for sure.

Wow! I love their early stuff. Amazing how talented they were at 13! I love that they still had their Austrian accents back then. The album is a very professional production and I absolutely love it. Thank you MLT family!
