1. That Hotel California Solo was a real challenge at the time. I wasn’t that far into my guitar journey yet but adored this solo with all its layered harmony parts. I wanted to get it spot on for the recording. We spent quite a long time on it in the studio, recording it phrase by phrase until Dad and I were happy with the tone and expression. So I didn’t really learn the whole thing back then but rather practised section for section until I was comfortable enough to hit the record button. Only years later did I actually learn the whole thing by heart. Now that I think of it, I wonder how much I still remember … 🙂
2. Not quite sure what video clip you are referring to specifically but yes, it was probably just a mirrored image. Except she has a talent she hasn’t told me about haha. It would actually make singing into the same microphone (à la John and Paul) or performing on less spacious stages a lot easier (And I’d be left with a lot less bruises on my right arm from Mona bumping into me with her guitar’s headstock ;-))

Administrator20/10/2018 at 20:55 in reply to: On Orange, which song took the longest to write?Hardest – Once Upon A Time, because we changed the whole arrangement around so much. It literally had a Rockabilly guitar lick/groove/vibe at some point! We went from rocky to folky to even more psychedelic than the final version. It was a fun and rewarding process but we definitely spent more time on this fella than any other song.
Easiest – Well, “No More Worries Company” was basically a re-make of a song that Dad had already written back in the 80s (Though then called “No More Working Company”). Ever since we found his old demo tapes we LOVED that track and couldn’t wait to turn it into a full-fledged production. We kept the whole original concept and even used many of the original words. So to answer your question, Dad might have spent lots of time writing it back in the day but adapting it for this album has been a fairly smooth process 😛

Hello, hello, helloooo!
So glad to see you here in the Club 🙂 We don’t hear from a lot of people that they came across our music through The 59th Street Bridge Song first, so that’s really interesting. We sure are glad you did!
We might have told you this before, but hearing from people that went through a similar thing than us while growing up, always is oddly exciting and … reassuring maybe? Being the only ones in a circle of friends “discovering” the Beatles/60’s music, tapping into an era and world “before our time”, and so on.
Regarding movies we have to disappoint you a litte. We’re absolutely rubbish when it comes to film knowledge. We’ve never been big movie watchers and regularly embarrass our friends by going “who?” or “I don’t get that quote …”. Yep, we’re the odd kids at the table that haven’t seen Star Wars. It’s just never something we made a whole lot of time for, and while we do appreciate the great movies out there, we still have a LONG list to catch up on. So let’s turn this question around … If you could recommend one classic movie, which one would it be? 😉 You’ve mentioned a few in your replies but which one would you start with?
I’m pretty sure you will have seen “Across The Universe” but if you haven’t yet … check it out! If you’re into documentaries, I would recommend “Searching For Sugar Man”, I’m sure you’ll love that one!
As for reading – I’ve only recently pushed myself to make time for that again. We both used to go through books faster than they could chop trees. But for the last ten years, again we just didn’t really take that much time for it. But I’m a big fantasy buff when it comes to reading and love long, complex stories and books so thick you could knock someone out with it. Things like “The Mists of Avalon”.
Anyway, we’re very happy to have you here and hope you’ll have a fun time at the MLT Club! 🙂 ❤

Administrator20/10/2018 at 15:15 in reply to: Why not offer separate Video Albums corresponding to each CD Album? Thanks for your question and the lovely words, Joe!
As Howard mentioned I went into detail about why we cannot sell our cover songs as videos in a different topic, you can find it here.
When it comes to our original music that’s a different story. We were actually doing exactly what you suggested for our original album “When We’re Together” and are selling it as a CD and a DVD.
For our more recent album ORANGE, however, we have only released 3 videos so far and are not planning to make a video to every single song.
As much as we love putting visuals to our music and working on videos, we decided it is currently more important to work on new songs and more writing. It took us several years to finish all the videos for our debut album and there was a 5 year gap between our first and second original album. We don’t want to repeat that, and would rather create more music than spending too much time on too many videos for “older” songs.
That’s not to say that we won’t release any more songs off ORANGE as videos (in fact, I’m sure we will!) but we won’t work on another DVD for a while.
I like your suggestion though and if it wasn’t for the cover music problem mentioned in the other topic I’m sure we’d have a couple more DVDs out already!

See, that’s the kind of jokes behind ones back one always has to deal with!
It’s not easy to deliver some decent and serious work getting sabotaged all the time.
Thanks Kevin for this disclosure and maybe you can find even more of these insidious acts of virtual vandalism.
It’s not easy, it’s not easy, it’s not … -

Administrator19/10/2018 at 21:58 in reply to: Forum: New Content and My Content filter buttons suggestionTwo very legitimate suggestions, Jung. I am also still working to see all of that information in one central place not in two different user profiles/account pages. It’s just not so easy to find a solution that doesn’t produce additional problems like slowing down the site or producing random errors. But we came a lot closer to that this week.

Hi Marcio,
Welcome to the Club and to the forum! Last year we wrote a blog post called “Why Orange?” where we go into detail about the inspiration behind the name (spoiler: it came about after watching the Stanley Kubrick movie “Clockwork Orange”) and all the different aspects to it.
Feel free to read it here and let us know if you’re left with any questions! -
We never quite found out. We didn’t notice him at the time, only while watching back the footage and we’ve only seen him twice since. Once in the reflection of a spoon while eating tomato soup last winter and once when we took this picture:
Sorry we couldn’t be of more help. If we’ll ever come across him again we’ll let you know!

Simple answer: We have no idea and neither do our parents!
The doctors usually tell you when twins get born by looking at the placenta but in our case the doctor threw it away before he remembered to look – true story! (and sorry for the squeamish reading this!)
We could get it checked now by doing a DNA lab test for about £1000 but to be honest, even if it was cheaper I’m not sure we’d want to know. It’s not something that keeps us up at night and we like the mystery.
If we’d had to guess? That’s a tough one because we used to look much more alike than we do now. I’m pretty 50/50 on our chances but I’d bet a penny or two on us being identical.

Mona finally found out why this happened and why we could not replicate the problem. The reason is that we are logged in as administrators and it works perfectly.
As participant most of the formatting works also but not if you try to center text or images for some very strange reason. Possibly missing user permissions.
I contacted the developer of the plugin and hopefully we soon have a a solution.

Thanks, Howard. That was a really painful one, so glad you found it.
As for the editing – we do see HTML tags popping up in the forum but we have troubles to reproduce the error. I know, you don’t want to hear that. It’s what we hate most when we contact someone’s technical support and they come up with this statement.
But we’re working on this and will eventually come up with a solution. We always do. Quite possible that we have some mild OCD as well …
Until then, we’ll edit them out to prettify the posts because the editor works on our side. See your first post, I changed it to bold without the <tags>. I left the second one original though so that your comment would still make sense. -
Hi Steve,
As far as I know we’ve never been to Scarborough (although don’t quote me on that, we might have passed it on tour) but we did play a festival in Whitby a few years back. It was one of our first gigs after moving here and we thought the town and area to be absolutely gorgeous. We visited the abbey and tried to soak in as much of the atmosphere as we could before finishing the day with a rocking gig. Glad you got to spend some time there!

Hi Jacki,
Haha, yes tiptop shape. I like that! And Howard, your location guide was perfect. And don’t worry, the joy of creating is in/for everyone, and your forum posts are good examples.
I will close this topic now as solved. See you elsewhere!
