There is something wonderful about walking through town, minding your own business, possibly in search of the next food stall to get in a quick bite to eat, and suddenly being stopped in your tracks by the sound of some really good street musicians.
We’ve heard some incredible talent on the streets over the years, especially in Dublin which is where today’s video submission by Tim A. was filmed, too.
Many of you have helped our music grow by telling your friends, family and co-workers about us and spreading the word through good old word-of-mouth or the internet equivalent of that
We want to start giving back for these kind of things! We will be setting up “rewards” for newsletter sign-up referrals and would love to know which of these perks would interest you the most.
We will be choosing a whole array of rewards for different levels of help. You shouldn’t rank the rewards below against each other but rather think about each reward individually and let us know if it would be something you’d enjoy receiving in exchange for helping us grow. What’s the best way we can say “Thank You”?
If you can think if other ideas, please let us know in the field below and please feel free to expand in the comment section below! We’re very curious to hear your thoughts!
00:00 – Intro 01:35 – How come you always sit in the same order? 01:50 – Do you talk English or German at home? 02:02 – Will the Hammond organ feature on future Duo Sessions? 02:32 – Do you ever give up on songs, because they are too difficult to play? 03:22 – What was your quickest song to write? 04:15 – Do you ever have moments of “What do we do next?” 04:47 – What side of the road did you learn how to drive on? 06:56 – What are your thoughts on the “German” Beatles songs? 07:43 – If you didn’t sing, what would you do for a living? 08:31 – Have you played a resonator guitar? Or slide techniques? 09:58 – What parts of the US would you still like to visit? 11:15 – Have you played any songs by Herman’s Hermits? 12:24 – Fun Facts and Outro
Let’s start off 2024 with a chat!
It’s great to be back and we’re buzzing to get going with our plans and goals for 2024. SO MUCH TO DO, SO MANY IDEAS! 😉
We’re excited for all the new projects in the months ahead but thought we’d start things off with a little Q&A video to catch up with some of your questions from the past year. We made a good dent in the list but if your “Q” still hasn’t been answered yet, we probably just haven’t gotten around to it yet and will try to do so in following episodes.
If you think of new things you’re curious about, you can also always submit them here!
For us it’s impossible to not get excited at the start of a new year. 12 unwritten months ahead to be filled with stories, connections, projects, music and adventures.
No one knows what they will bring yet but it will be undoubtedly a mixture of ups and downs just like 2023 was. We hope for a bit more ups than downs though (for you and us both) 😉
Let us attempt to summarise our music related highlights of the year:
It’s been a good one, overall. We’re grateful for that and consider ourselves very, very lucky. Every single one of you, in a small way (and some in a very big way!) has contributed to making our 2023 successful and beautiful, and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope we can give you something back with even more music in 2024!
We’ll start today by uploading a video from the Cavern Club archives that has not been published to YouTube before! “Kansas City – Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!” is a Little Richard cover but we play it the way the Beatles arranged it in 1964. They might have performed it like that in the Cavern Club themselves in their early days!
“Everybody’s Talking” is the opening track of our latest acoustic album The Duo Sessions II. The album (and all other music & merch) is still -25% until Cyber Monday!
We only recently learned that the original is actually by a singer called Fred Neil (it’s a great version!) but only Harry Nilsson’s version reached the billboard charts in 1969 at number 6, after his version was used for the soundtrack to the movie “Midnight Cowboy”.
What a cool song, we loved giving it a go, especially the acoustic guitar picking part!
Members of our MLT Club have had access to this video/song for a few months now so if you too would like to watch some of the still exclusive Duo Session videos and always get early access, you can join us here. The Black Friday discount (-25%) works for your first month/year too!
There’s still 25% off everything in our online store till tomorrow, Midnight! You can use the coupon code to get a discount on any (or all!) of our 12 CDs, vinyl, lots of new merch or even the MLT Club Membership. 🙂
We’re also about to start our annual Advent Calendar over at the MLT Club.
Every December, we post daily content leading up to Christmas there in order to spend the holidays together with our biggest supporters and to bring the community together as much as possible.
This year, we will do a Livestream 3 times a week (Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays) and a music-only stream on Mondays. On the days in-between we will post written updates which can include a poll, task or question for the community.
All MLT Club members will also receive a signed Christmas card in the mail!
All this is in addition to the exclusive content already available in the MLT Club. If you’ve ever thought about joining, December is the perfect time to hop in and try it out! 🙂
Thanks for the good laugh, David! He submitted this video through the Reactions Form.
We had seen maybe a dozen SNL sketches over the years but the show is not really something we’re very familiar with. It didn’t air in Austria growing up, but we know it plays a big part in North American television history.
We loved this “Subway Guitarist” sketch and are glad it was submitted!
Please share your favourite SNL skits in the comments!
How could we resist covering a new (?!) Beatles track!
It was almost impossible to miss the news but just in case you haven’t heard yet – there is a “new” Beatles song out. Yes, new Beatles music in 2023! Paul and Ringo took an old demo recording by John Lennon and turned it into a full song, including some guitar parts by George that were recorded in ’95.
Technically, that makes it a new Beatles song … so we just had to give it a go! 😉
“The Duo Sessions II” album is out now!
An enormous thank you goes out to everyone who has already ordered our new album The Duo Sessions II and/or merch that came out last week!
We are so pleased to have our 12th record out, and to get such great feedback from so many of you is the cherry on top!
The album is now available on all streaming platforms and of course in the MLT Club, so have a listen if you haven’t already. A lot of the songs are also up on our YouTube channel! And if you enjoy it, why not get a CD for the car, the downloads for your digital music library or some merchandise to help us create more music in the future?
Our 12th album is ready and we couldn’t be happier!
14 acoustic versions of our favourite covers and originals, all originally recorded for the MLT Club.
We know many of you who pre-ordered the album have received their parcels in the mail already. If you haven’t ordered yet, you can get your CD HERE. The Digital Downloads are now also available! Buying from our website means that 100% of the revenue will go right back into new music and videos! 🙂
You can also stream the album in the MLT Club and on all the major music platforms.
And of course, we also had to upload a new Duo Session Video today, to celebrate! 😉
This version of our original song “In It For Love” (see the video above) will be on the album alongside 13 other stripped-back Duo Sessions. We even re-recorded the very first song we ever wrote at the age of 13 and got our dad to join us on another track!
We initially recorded all these songs/videos for the MLT Club, which helped make this whole project possible. If it wasn’t for the amazing support of our members, this album wouldn’t exist. As always, if you are (or become) an MLT Club member, we will sign the album for you as a way to say Thank You ♥
We knew about George Martin’s Air Studio in London but never really followed the story from there on out and were surprisingly unaware of his expansion to the Caribbean Island of Montserrat.
MLT Club member Tomás shared the trailer of the documentary “Under The Volcano” with us and you can watch us react to it live in today’s video.
We went ahead and watched the full documentary last night. It’s fascinating, and we highly recommend it! It includes interviews with people from Mark Knopfler, Sting, Giles Martin and Stewart Copeland all the way to the cleaning and cooking staff who worked at the studio back in the 70s and 80s.
Wow Michael. That's great! You are sure getting their name out there. (Thanks google translate.) :-)
