You Really Got Me – New Video

Greetings!

Today we crank up the volume to 11 and upload a cover from our Cavern Club days!

You Really Got Me by the Kinks, who also played at the Cavern Club back in 1964, only months before they had their big breakthrough with this song.

It’s such a beautifully rough, messy early British Rock ‘n’ Roll staple. The kind of song that is the most fun to play in crowded, intimate, small places like the Cavern Club. We think it shows 😉 …

First sneak-peek of new original music

In other news, our new original album is coming along nicely.

So nicely, that we have just released the first song off it over at the MLT Club as a sneak peek to the album!

It’s available in full there and we will continue to pre-release original content in the MLT Club while the album production is in progress.

We have been going back and forth on song selection and the overall direction of the album quite a lot this past year but finally feel that everything is lining up and we are working in overdrive!

Some tunes we wrote prior to 2020 didn’t feel like they belonged there anymore, new ideas were born and some topics and emotions became so much more important and dearer to us.

If you want to stay closer connected to the creation and creative progress of original album #3 (it’s about time we pick a name) then we warmly invite you to become an MLT Club member and join the community there!

Member or not – you’ll see us again with a new YouTube release very soon!

Our 27th birthday is coming up on June 16 and we like to treat ourselves with a new channel upload 😉

Until then, take care, take risks and most of all …

Stay groovy!

Mona & Lisa

  32. Oh Yeah – The Godmothers of Punk in Action please continue with: All day and all of the night…

  33. There are five things I really love. Girl groups, Austria, classic rock, Sixties music, and the Beatles. I’m sure glad I joined the MLT club during this pandemic. I can’t wait to see you in the Cavern with my British Musician relatives whose 11-year-old son Charley is a huge Beatles Fan who is getting very good on the drums. He went to Liverpool last year and will, no doubt, like to return. Hopefully, I can introduce you to him on our visit. Oh yeah, his parents used to live in Muswell Hill and rubbed elbows with Ray Davies when they had a band in the Nineties.

  34. Hi girls what can I say another great rendition you just keep getting better with each song.
    keep up the great work.
    With the deepest respect.
    George

  35. This is fabulous. I love everything you do.

Have you ever thought about selling merchandise like guitar straps or picks?

    Please keep it going.

  36. This is not just classic Kinks, but it’s also classic MonaLisa Twins. What a great job you did. This is one of those songs that, when I hear it after a long hiatus, I’m like “why haven’t I been listening to that?” Now I have, and – like your Lola – you do a great job on the Kinks songbook.

  37. loved it. rock on!

  38. I love your rendition of this song!!! It’s got the right vibe, energy, rawness.

  39. I am buying the next DVD or CD when available.
    Please bring only ORGINALS ????
    Thank you MonaLisa Twins
    Thxs Rocky

  40. You are amazing.

  41. Great job on a Rock Classic. I love the upbeat videos you put out. Looking forward to album # 3

  42. Hallo, Ihr Beiden!

  43. Well, you Really Got Me!! Loved the cover and the energy! Nice treat for your audience. I love it when you are more animated, and enthusiastic!!!
Looking so forward to album number three. Peace, love and harmony ????.
PS – Name suggestion for album 3. “You Glad” Well, seems a bit odd until…
“When We’re Together” “Orange” “You Glad” and the obvious answer is absolutely ???? percent!!!
    Okay just kidding ????… ????❤

    1. You really got me, Jerry. I wasn’t sure where you were going. That is funny!

      JP

      1. Nowhere, man. (Ha!)
But, I am totally an MLT committed fan.

  44. Once again, Mona Lisa Twins nail the performance and spirit of a Rock Classic. Cheers, ladies, keep on rockin’!

  45. Well, Ladies, I think you got us all with your joyfull energy ! ????

  46. You are both so beautiful, talented, and fun! Lisa, I love what you do, but it’s nice to hear Mona on lead vocals for a change. Great job. I love you both!

  47. Love this version!! The Kinks were my absolute favorite band as a teen!! You did this Proud!!! THank you!

  48. I love you!

  49. Apparently the two of you can sing anything even early rock classics , Oh so very talented !

  50. Great performance, love your energy !

  51. Congratulations for excelling in the male-dominated music field. Keep producing great music and I hope to see you perform in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, some summer.

  52. I have your double album in my car CD player and it’s with me wherever I go. I really don’t know how you’ve not made there mainstream, you’re so talented.

  53. I would love having a DVD of the live at the Cavern Club concert!
It would be so much better to hear and see it on my big screen TV instead of my computer. I do have the CD’s of it. I have the DVD When We’re Together and love it.

  54. Great version, and I’m old enough to remember the original. The chord sequence was really ground breaking at the time, so unusual and as usual the ladies pulled it off yet again, beautiful!

  55. Love it! I really enjoyed that!! Good job ladies!!!

  56. This cover is (in my minds eye) better than the original by the Kinks.
    You go girls …

  57. You really got me! If you ever have need of an aging groupie, I’m your guy! Peace, love, rock n’ roll!

  58. I bought a Kinks album for this song when it came out in the 60’s. Now many year later, I like your live version better!

  59. Wow!!!! Absolutely wow!!!

  60. You capture the freshness and energy and excitement we all felt with early rock and roll music. No grandstanding or amp smashing, weird clothing and image making though. Your band sounds great too with super musicianship from all members. I love the Cavern Club vibe. Live music at its best! Love it!

  61. Lisa plays guitar better than Dave Davis !

  62. Now this is how you rock. Love this, so raw and yet amazing.

  63. You two are amazing!

  64. Love this version, Mona Lisa Twins have been on my YouTube faves list for years!

  65. Gresch and rickenbacher.. with the Twins.. Live at the Cavern.. If you want it!!!!1

  66. Fantastic

  67. Thsnk you so much for keeping all these classic songs alive and well, which you do with so much class spinkled with your own original goodness. You are two of the groovest girls I know. Rock and happy birthday.

  68. I’m not into hip hop or rap, but I’m into you guys. Your rendition of, You Really Got Me, blew me away, along with all your covers and originals. I can’t same it enough, but you are so talented! I’m glad I found you on YouTube back in 2013. I will continue to support you and buy your music. Stay groovy! I love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

  70. good site/sight

  71. very cool. You know you got a supporter here. 🙂

  72. Love it you all are so refreshing

  73. Great song

  74. True to the original Kinks version, it is awesome. I enjoyed this.
Oh, and by the way, your cover of the Easybeats’ Friday On My Mind is absolutely awesome.

  75. You two are amazing! All your covers are just incredible! Love to listen to you both! ???????????? … ✌

  76. You never fail to catch the essence of the songs. You are really rockin’ with this one! Love it!

  77. Your records are perfect but you are also very good live. I have seen and heard you in Liverpool with great pleasure

  78. A true version to one of the greatest rocksongs if that era. Very enjoyable.

  79. Brilliant

  80. Good good verry good

  81. You ladies can do no wrong, there’s a place for you in my heart.

  82. Major changes in the music came about in the 60s. So much fun to see you enjoy it like many of us did back then. More than half a century has passed since. Thank you so much for keeping all that alive.

  83. I was around and heard about a group called the Beatles before they became famous, their music was infectious and new, you girls bring these old sounds back again with a freshness which is not only good to listen to but good to watch as well, I’m still waiting for sounds of Abba and the Carpenters from you.

  84. Wow what a performance. We luv the twins xx

  85. Mona & Lisa, want to see you live in concert. Now that things are almost back to normal have you plans to do live gigs again ?

  86. WOW! That’s really awesome. So much energy and joy at playing ????????????????????????

  87. Brilliant.

  88. Love the Kinks, but can only play “Lazin on a Sunny Afternoon.” Are you on Apple Music? I hate that I have to have an Apple Music membership to download music that will play on both my computer and phone. Recently found It’s a Beautiful Day on CD- won’t play on my phone. So I’d like to download your music but am stuck in Appledom. Can you give your costs in $? Woody

  89. Mona and Lisa, you leave the other iconic female rockers in the dust! Oh man, You Really Got Me with this one indeed! From Mona’s absolutely superb cool lead rock vocals, to Lisa’s blistering lead guitar work. This kind of performance is what makes legends! Rock and Roll at its finest. Absolutely brilliant, left me with rock and roll goosebumps. 🙂

  90. Truly great!! I like Lisa’s guitar solo better than Dave Davies and Mona’s vocals are superb. Great job!

    1. Slow down cowboy; Lisa would agree she is paying homage to Dave Davies by playing his solo with the same, not better, rawness as 1964!
I love how these two women put so much into all their covers!

    2. Hope I die before I get old – FAILED! You’ve really got me now and never let go of us yeah. We don,t care what your name is Mark & Pam we’ll never turn you away. What a slended performance of the Kinks. We luv the Twins xx
