New Video – Once Upon A Time

“Once Opon A Time” ft. John Sebastian – New Video Out Now!

We celebrated being on this planet for a quarter of a century (our 25th birthday) with releasing this new video.

It’s literally the best birthday present to ourselves because not many things make us happier than sharing our creative endeavours with those that fancy listening. This one being an original song “Once Upon A Time” off our album ORANGE.

We filmed this video during our trip to Lanzarote (The Canary Islands) with our family and “Papa Rudi” was doing all the filming.

The song and video once again features our dear friend John Sebastian (from the Lovin’ Spoonful) on the harmonica.

Remember his song Younger Generation? Especially his performance of it at Woodstock? Since “Once Upon A Time” also speaks about the value of generations working together, we think him playing on the song all ties in beautifully.

This is now the 3rd and final video we had filmed with John, but we want to say again how wonderful it was to work with him and have this project span generations. “Cause we’ve been told, that young and old can learn from each other …” <3

Lots of love you all and stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. What a fantastic place to film and fantastic performance. This would have to be your best film clip yet. Thankyou :-))

  2. a fantastic song and video just up my street ,what harmonies !

  3. Is Lanzarote Island (Canary Islands) that show the video of this song?

  4. I liked the music and the video !! Keep up the good work. All the things I’ve heard from you ladies is refreshing .

  5. Two of the prettiest women I’ve seen in a long time. And so versatile musically and otherwise. I wish I was 30, maybe 40 years younger, I would woe them to the ends of the earth. I love them dearly and would love to get to know them better.

  6. You were born in the wrong decade. You capture the essence of the 60s beautifully. Thank you for all the joy you spread. Blessings

  7. ☺️☺️🎵🎼🎶🇳🇴🇳🇴

  8. John Sebastian has long been one of my favorite performers and song writers. I had not heard this particular song before but your singing and harmonizing blew me away. It was strong, resonant, and nicely done.

  9. The way they sing is a gift I’m glad they are sharing it with the world

  10. Be great to hear you sing Do you believe in magic ?

  11. Très bon. Original . Cool

  12. Fantastic!

  13. @MonaLisaTwins . . . That’s a lovely, joyful and uplifting song, I thought the landscape with the cliffside at the edge of the sea looked a bit like the Great Australian Bight, but then i saw the hills/mountains in the background so no! So, does anyone know where this video was taken, the grey bushes look like saltbush to me so maybe still in Aust.?

    1. I think it is Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands (Spain)

  14. I love this song, it is very 1969, very Woodstock, I like the words of the song, I like your dresses, it is very sixties and also the beautiful landscape and the harmonica of John Sebastian. Beautiful video.

  15. This made my 64 year old heart so happy, thank-you!!!

  16. The Lovin’ Spoonful was one of my favourite bands way back in the 1960’s. Your rendition of one of his latest compositions again proves that you girls are total professionals in the art of harmony. In addition the backdrops to the presentation are incredibly breathtaking!

  17. I’m 72-years-young and I was 14 when the Beatles hit the scene here in America. I got my parents to buy me my first guitar and have been playing professionally and for personal enjoyment ever since. Listening to your covers brings back a flood of memories and you two young artists have really nailed the songs you’ve chosen. Thank you for that and for taking the next step with your originals–one of which, Once Upon a Time–is reminiscent of McCartney’s song structure and chording. Keep up the good work!

  18. Just found you and so pleased – loving your music. Have a lovely Xmas.

  19. Brilliant!!

  20. Love your music ! Happy Birthday!!!!!!

  21. Beautiful voices and songwriting! I wondered, with a very musical daughter interested in pursuing her talent, how you all got started. I see you accept donations but the quality of your earlier material seems to show some level of appropriate affluence for such pursuits. Plainly put— is your family well off?

  22. I’m going to be 67 shortly. Stumbling on your music filled a spot in my heart I didn’t know was empty. You take me back and keep me in the present at the same time.
    ????Woodstock footage ????
PS. Thank you for not rapping….

  23. I love how your voices blend so perfectly! And the words are clear, too. But I have to say your Bought Myself a Politician is my absolute favourite.

    1. Hear hear????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  24. Absolutely awesome!

  25. Loved it

  26. It’ a, really, nice in this wonderfull landscape.
The Joy si present, here, ans i’ m in Joy since a couple of of days.
    Thank’s a lot , sisters.
    Friendly *

  27. Loved your version of this song! keep up the good work ????

  28. Beautiful souls

  29. Just a thank you for the music.
Your original music is both refreshing and reassuring. Why reassuring? Because it reassures me that real musical talent is alive and kicking.
As for your reimagining of classics, you are introducing a new generation to a music that has (in my humble opinion) never been equaled. Yet you give me hope that it may in your contribution to the well of musical magic we can all draw from.
Of yes, and a very happy birthday.

  30. I love it! LOVED the Lovin’ Spoonful back in the 60s. Lovely song and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

  31. Really loving your harmonies, great song, beautiful sunny Sunday here in Tasmania & gorgeous music to listen to while walking the pooch.

  32. Awesome!! Absolutely love it! ❤️❤️

  33. So good. loved it. Happy 25th birthday xx 🙂 🙂

  34. Love it! I am a Baby Boomer, so grew up with this music. Your rendition and harmonics are fabulous. Great that you included clips from Woodstock.

  35. A very Happy Birthday to you both.
Love the song and Mr. Sebastian was a nice touch.
    ????????????

  36. I loved the lyric’s, I found some parts of the Music, a bit tinny [perhaps the lower notes] I am NO musician, this could be just the way it was mixed, You asked, its just my opinion, I’m not trying to bag you, i just don’t like the high pitch part of this.

  37. I love this. Thanks. 60’s blended and evolved to the 21st century. Nice!
Happy birthday! I’m a fellow Sagittarian.

  38. Bravo

  39. Groovy song, harks back to my 60s childhood, but with John Sabastian I would expect no less!! Keep up the great work!!

  40. Found and purchased your orange album. Going to enjoy swirling around my house today. ????❤

  41. Lovely sentiment and song. Where do I get a physical album? Can I share this? Love and light to you both. Xx

    I loved it!

  46. Such a great idea to hook up with John Sebastian! What a fabulous musician. He makes such happy music! I just loooove him!

  47. You two are such an inspiration! Your music, your talent, your family and your spirit are such a source of peace, love and unity. Please cover John’s Woodstock version of “Rainbows All Over Your Blues.” Thanks for the music!

  48. Beautiful as always , and then such a heroe of my generation

  49. Great new music video, like it;-))

  50. fantastic!

  51. Absolutely love this! But then, I’m a sixties person.

  52. Wow!! I haven’t seen outfits like these since I fell off the Dead tour! Think about a take on the psychedelic tune by the late Kenny Rogers & the First Edition (before he went C&W): I JUST DROPPED IN (to see what condition my condition was in). (“I tripped on a cloud and fell eight miles high. I tore my mind on a jagged sky….”) It was largely forgotten until it appeared on the soundtrack for the hit, cult film, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, about freaks persevering in the Bush era. No one else seems to have given it a shot.

  53. This is amazing!!! You’re awesome!!! Thank you for sharing your music. Love from Pennsylvania.

  54. Love this & love John Sebastian playing with you. Great to know he & Donovan & the wonderful music of my era are aporeciated by young people like you.

  55. Beautiful harmonies and nice psychedelic touch!

  56. I love you girls and your music, Keep it up.

  57. Delightful ladies,

If it’s true that you reap what you sow then you should be millionaires. You could have sung that song in your back garden, but no, you always go that extra mile.

    Love everything about you both!

    Chris

  58. These women are absolutely fabulous. Growing up in the ’60s all I can say is somehow they just know how to inject the right vibe, energy, and chemistry into every performance. Thank you so much for keeping our genre going so well.

  59. Love this song and all your music! John Sebastian is great, loved all his music! I think he wrote the Welcome Back Kotter song for the TV series that started John Travolta’s career where he played a sweat hog! Anyway you young ladies are GREAT and it makes me so happy to see the younger generations listening and performing music from the greatest generations of blues, rock, pop music ever made.

  60. This video absolutely captures the Woodstock feeling. Your hippie look dazzles me. Young and old learning together is a keystone element to Family! Thank you Mona and Lisa for providing me with such a joyful outlet.

All the best from Florida. I’m thinking ???? you should perform for Disney EPCOT at the Germany Pavilion World Showcase. U and your family would rock the house in the outdoor amphitheater that overlooks the Water lagoon with fireworks ???? every night. Beer ???? from Germany ???????? or UK ???????? or Champagne ???? from France. Saki from Japan ????????. Perfect ???? fit for Mona & Lisa.

  61. Wonderful performance, and a great idea to bring John Sebastian in. I was an early fan of the Spoonful. And later of his “Cheapo Cheapo Productions. Right now I just start getting into your music, Twins. Awesome, really…

  62. Absolutely love this song and your wonderful harmonies. Great to see John Sebastian – I’m rooted in those times and love music from the psychedelic era. Thank you for adding your special splashes of colour to the covers that you do so faithfully, especially the Beatles numbers and other ’60’s stuff. Please keep ’em coming.

  63. Bonjour à vous et merci pour ces magnifiques moments de partage qui rendent vos videos essentielles en ces temps troublés par une pandémie tristounette. Vos voix sont un bonheur.

  64. wonderful singing duo best harmony’s

  65. really nice song psychedelic 60s

  66. Oh yes, the days of the 28 inch flares. Great times, great music and this one captures the mood brilliantly.

  67. Sehr gut Ihr Beide !!!

  68. Congratulations, Mona Lisa Twins ! You allow us to dive again in this “flower power” mood of the sixties, wich I discovered and loved since my teens through the music of Donovan (by the way, I like your Sunshine Superman live cover very much !). You share the joy of living, maybe the most efficient cure in those “dark” times. Thank you and hope to attend one of your live performance one of these days ! Philippe (from France)

  69. Just love the music the voices. Close to perfection in my book. Love you gals

  70. Outstanding! Shades of Woodstock and fits right in with the greatest music of all times.

  71. Hi ladies, I really love what you a doing, I wear two hearing aids and some of your songs I can’t hear the vocals, so I pick carefully what I listen to.
Keep up the the great work, you’re are a wonderful and talented duo.
    Thank you

  72. Awesome,Ladies!

  73. Makes me want to dig out my original Loving Spoonful sheet music and start playing again
    Great song keep it up

  74. Wow!! The visuals in this video are stunning! Congrats to Papa Rudi for his inventive use of drone camera. The sentiments expressed in the lyrics are so hopeful – thank you Mona and Lisa for re-capturing what the counterculture of the ’60s was all about! You are so well informed and talented, we love your work so much! Mark ❤ and David ❤

  75. Woodstock had it’s influence, for sure…the ’60’s also brought you “the pill”, a man on the moon, and in the US it meant the Vietnam war, civil rights and more. This certainly captures a part of it! :o) Thanks

  76. Have always said that finding you strictly by chance on Youtube was one of the nicest things to happen to me in a musical vein. I enjoy your covers a lot but like your original stuff even more. Keep up the good work. I am 66 and enjoying all of it.

  77. What talent. And catchy…mona…lisa twins….love the guitar playing and harmony singing…and covering classics….glad I discovered you gals…

  78. You two bring a lot of joy. Keep it up.

  79. Will yall be performing with Mike in St.Louis?

    1. No Keith, sorry! If you’re referring to the live dates at the end of our collaboration video with Mike, those were his shows only. We’d love to visit the States again though … one day for sure 🙂

  80. A quarter of a century? Me, at 63 I’m riding hopelessly to 3/4 but, anyway, I love your fresh music. You’re keeping an spirit of music that will belong to History. Thanks a lot.

  81. the sound, the 12-string-guitar-work, your harmony-singing, the melody going throgh the surprising changes,it just sends shivers up and down my spine.

  82. OMG Happy Birthday girls. As always it feels like you have given us a gift instead of you getting one. You always bring a smile to my face, or a tear to my eye and you both are so very unique and talented. HAPPY BIRTHDAY once again.

  83. This is one of my favorite. Your as close to the 70’s sound, without getting away from ” your” sound.
Another thing, I don’t think you can get that sound, without someone from that era, helping. You had one of the best.
    I enjoy your music, thanks
    Ray

  84. This new song is simply awesome! I love the photography of your video clip and the touch of George Harrison due to the sound of the zither. It also reminds me of a great band of the 1990s, The Indians. You girls , rock! Oh, and VERY, VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! May you go on filling this world full with your marvelous music for another 75 years or so!!!

  85. At first happy birthday to your 50/2!
And once more a really great production of your wonderful song from your last album!
    Congrats to your whole team!

  86. Happy Birthday Mona and Lisa! I hope you have an amazing day and are spoilt rotten. You have achieved some unbelievable things in your short life with your awesome talents, that match the best ( If Not Better) in the music business. Your music videos are supreme and really professionally so well produced, and your technical ability is second to none. Keep on playing for as long as you enjoy it and are able to do so. You are making millions of fans so very happy with your music, and long may it continue.

  87. Spectacular! Love this song from “Orange” and the video totally brings new awareness. The landscape was stunning (with an occasional seagull) and the unexpected clips from Woodstock sealed it! You ladies are sensational and a joy to behold! You say it’s your birthday? Happy Birthday to you!

  88. Happy b’day wagner twins. Ever hear a song for the first time and it automatically feels like it’s been in your head forever? This is one of those songs. And the video, WOW Nice job Rudi. Have’nt had a flashback like in awhile. Thank you all. That was Fab.

  89. Happy Birthday Mona and Lisa! It’s your birthday and we get the present in the form of a fabulous music video. I love the “Orange” album and this is one of my favorite songs. I enjoy the great MLT harmony and the timeless lyrics. The video itself is awesome, with two beautiful girls in the amazing beauty of the Canary Islands, highlighted by Papa Rudi’s incredible camera work. The icing on the cake is the footage of John Sebastian at Woodstock (which, unfortunately, I am actually old enough to remember.) Well done!!!

  90. Happy birthday girls, happy father’s day to your dad. I love the song, love the cd. Make more, please.

  91. This was amazing. Thank you.

  92. great guitar & blues harp, harmonies very 60’s, you’ve captured the feel& spirit of that era here. Excellent original material Ladies my favourite original so far, the reprise at the end is a bit Sgt Pepper, great work, thanks for sharing

Happy birthday. Love you. Contratulations to your daddy.

    Google Translation:
First of all I want to apologize for writing in my native language the Portuguese of Brazil, because I am not fluent in English. And because my happiness for you being such wonderful people is great, I feel that I could only express what I want by writing in Portuguese.
I loved receiving this rare jewel that was this fantastic video and with this beautiful song, just like everything you do. Today I woke up with a feeling that something special would happen and I was right, as well as receiving the video you are having a birthday. Congratulations, and may this happiness that you transmit to us spread throughout the whole world, and may God increasingly enlighten your already enlightened paths. Discovering you was one of the best things that has happened in my life in the last three years.
Happy birthday. Love you. Contratulations to your daddy.

  94. Quite simply… Profoundly Enchantingly Groovy… You’ve gone and perfected in capturing the core essences of this song with such magnificent and astoundingly stunning backgrounds and effects not to mention clothing choices that all intertwine complimentary with each other resulting in this epic creative music gem…. Kudos to this… For what you’ve done to Cultivate and Culminate to let the Creative Juices Bloom and Blossom as has transcended so beautifully here… A gift to be enjoyed…. Thankyou!!!!

  95. Very Happy Birthday girls – hope it’s a great one!

  96. This song is great played on vinyl with the volume cranked up to 11! It’s great to stop and listen to the tune and lyrics proper like. Even better to just ‘tune out’ and let the song flow over ya. 🙂

I’m loving the video as it is so very well shot. I don’t even mind the lens flare affect as it is not overused as is often the case with many (so called) professional high budget movie makers. Presenting in a ‘wide’ aspect was, in this video, a stroke of genius. Very well done ‘Rudi

Oh, yeah! what was that other thing I wanted to write? … ?

Happy birth day girls. Have a good’n.

  97. Iove the entire album, but this is a standout. Happily birthelday to yoo both… <3

  98. Happy Birthday Mona & Lisa! Love you songs. Tour the USA.

  99. Como sempre um belo trabalho dessas meninas. Parabéns!

    Google Translation:

  102. Happy Birthday Mona & Lisa! As good as it’s all been so far, your best years of making music all ahead of you. You’ve got another winner here. Keep ’em coming. Seattle Bob
