Local Open Mic – Podcast Interview

Let’s chat …

We got invited to the “Local Open Mic” podcast recently and are now sharing our conversation with host Tim Hief here in the Club. It’s over an hour of conversation so there’s a lot we go through. 🙂

We are talking about the backstory to some of our original songs, our “busking days”, influences, guitars, gear and what we like to do for fun.

Anna Frawley’s MonaLisa Twins Special – Radio Interview

Anna Frawley’s Beatle Show 2014

Today we found a “new” old interview that we dug out to add to the archives here at the MLT Club. We can’t believe it’s been 6 years since we chatted with Anna from Poland about our music and the Beatles.

She has a very active Beatles loving community on her Facebook Page and does a Radio show every Friday. She plays our music from time to time and had us on for a longer chat back in 2014 which we want to share with you today. I think we got in touch with her through another radio hosts / Beatley friend Mick Francis, who has had us on his show a couple of times as well.

99.7 Bridge FM Australia – Radio Interview

Checking in with the Aussies  …

Every week we are sending more and more CDs to down-under, and we are very happy to see our Australian audience growing so quickly (Hello to all Aussie MLT Club Members!). So we thought it only fitting to add a relatively new radio interview to the archives today.

Suzy and Johnny from the Australian Community Radio 99.7 Bridge FM in Redcliffe, Queensland got in touch recently and did a little interview with us over Skype. We’ve had a lovely chat, and they played lots of MLT music to introduce their listeners to our music. We thank them very much for spreading the word and helping our music reach this beautiful corner of the world.

We hope you’ll all enjoy the interview:

We can’t help but reminisce about our time in Australia whenever we hear those accents. It’s been 11 years since our 6-month stay in Adelaide and we hope it won’t be another 11 before we get a chance to come back.

We’ve got to freshen up our Aussie slang because as you can hear we are very rusty! 🙂

We hope you’re well and groovy,
Mona & Lisa

Something About The Beatles – With Robert Rodriguez – Radio Interview

Let’s talk Beatles!

Right in time for the release of our two new albums MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & more Vol. 2 + 3 we’ve got something else to share with you that we think a lot of you might enjoy listening to!

We were guests on the popular podcast “Something About The Beatles” with brilliant host Robert Rodriguez from Chicago. The show is more than an hour long, and we got to talk in detail about all sorts of things, from singing jingles about cheese in our car with Dad when we were growing up, to our first (failed!) attempts at covering “The Night Before” and our opinion on the Beatles’ solo careers.

We also performed two songs acoustically, including a song off ORANGE that we’ve never published online:

Two Of Us – at minute 00:56:00In It For Love – at minute 01:12:30

We also filmed both songs and will upload the videos to the MLT Club in a few weeks (we’re still working on other projects at the moment) so look out for that! If you’re not a Club member yet and want to know how to join click here.

We highly recommend his past episodes, too. He has all sorts of interesting Beatley guests on his show and his interviewing, editing, and audio quality are superb. Big thanks also go out to Robert’s executive producer Richard Wey, who also creates the artwork for all episodes, and Trevor for helping set this up!

Why don’t you head over to Robert’s podcast website, leave a comment underneath the episode and listen to more? 🙂

For the Beatle heads among you, check out his book “Revolver – How The Beatles Re-Imagined Rock’n’Roll”! This will certainly be our Xmas holiday reading.

The Beatle Bug Radio Show with Mick Francis – Radio Interview

Hello to all Beatle Buggers …

… as Mick Francis regularly welcomes his “Beatle Bug” radio show listeners. We’ve had the honor to be part of one of the episodes just before Christmas 2015 to have a nice little chat and catch-up live on air.

We first met Mick back in 2013 when we were travelling through Ireland with two backbacks and two guitars and visited him in his radio studio in Dublin to do a long interview with him and his colleague Damian Smyth (see photo to the left and Mick to the right). Hopefully we’ll be able to dig out that original conversation at some point, so keep your eyes out for it!

Dublin Beatles Radio Mick Francis

Ever since then, Mick and us have stayed in contact. He is a huge Beatles fan, a musician himself and has written the book ARTPOP: The Roots & Fruits of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club BandCheck it out!

When our album ORANGE came out in September 2017 he wrote a really in-depth, interesting and wonderful review about it.

We hope you enjoy the little interview!

Press-Echo in 3 Regional Newspapers and more …

"MonaLisa take over the music world" in NÖN newspaper

As a newcomer you can only wish for such a bombardement of press articles!

Big thanks to Mrs. Ursula Kremsmayer for her wonderful half-page article about us (see picture above).

Translation:
“MonaLisa” take over the musicworld
RISING STARS / Mona and Lisa Unger are twins and may be the new musical discovery of Franzensdorf. Their new album is ready to take off.
FRANZENSDORF / “I think, Franzensdorf’s mayor let’s people take a musical test before they are allowed to move in”, one of the visitors of the festival was joking after he saw the two young girls performing a surprisingly good afternoon show. Yes, we always knew that Franzensdorf is a very good home for music. The two gorgeous teens are a special case though. They were brave enough to make their passion into a family business. Until now dad Unger produced other bands in his recording studio but now there is no time for that. And mum Unger is henceforth busy with promotion and concert booking.
PARENTS TOTALLY SUPPORT THE TWINS’ MUSICAL CAREER

“Music has always been an important part of our lives”, Mona says, “In the recording studio we’ve always been surrounded by musicians”. The 17-year old twins left school three years ago and are now completely concentrating on their musical carreer, their parents fully support them: “It would have been a crime not to try it, considering their talent”, mum says. Because they already stood out in school performances, family and village parties and got very successfull with their music videos on Youtube, the desicion was clear one day. At the beginning they started off with cover versions of hits from the 60’s but now they are focusing more on their original songs. “We write songs which we ourselves would enjoy listening to”, Lisa says, “music that makes us and others happy”.

Their new album “When We’re Together” – it’s their third one already – only has original songs on it. It’s now getting presented all over the country, on the 20th July you can get to hear MonaLisa in the Hödl-barn in Wittau.

The Photo article and the 3-column text (with a short note on the cover page by the way!!) in 2 different regional Austrian newspapers were written and photographed by Mr. Walter Vymyslicky.

Translation of the 3-column article:
MonaLisa are the singing twins
The twins devoted their music to the 60’s and now released their 3rd CD.
FRANZENSDORF. Besides discus-star Gerhard Mayer and the dancing couple Vadim Garbuzov and Kathrin Menzinger (Austrian “Dancing with the stars” show) the singing twin-sisters Mona and Lisa also come from there [Franzensdorf].

“Music has always been a big part of our lives and as our dad used to run a recording studio we have always been surrounded by musicians and studio equipment”, Mona says.
Rudolf Wagner now only works with his daughters which performed their first concert back in 2007. “That’s when the journey really started. With the live recordings of this first concert we produced our first album “MonaLisa and Band Live in concert 2007”. We built our own website and started putting our music videos on the internet under the name of “MonaLisa Twins”, Lisa explains.
CALIFORNIA DREAMING

At the beginning of 2009 the two girls, which will celebrate their 18th birthday on June the 16th, published their 2nd album “California Dreaming” (EP).
This year the twins produced “When We’re Together”. The next concert will take place on July the 20th at 8pm at the barn of the restaurant “Hödl” in Wittau.

Mr. Hannes Höttl of “wieninternational.at” (Vienna international) online news did a long interview with us and another Austrian band. Under http://www.wieninternational.at/de/content/zurueck-die-zukunft-de you can read the whole text. We have no translation for that until now but you can use Google translator or similar tools. Like in all the other news we find ourselves portrayed in a very positive way.

We thank all reporters very much for their interest in us, in our music and in promoting youth in general. We are very happy about this support!

Thanks,
