Here, There And Everywhere – New Beatles Cover Video

Here, There and Everywhere - The Beatles Cover Thumbnail

Good Sunday, everybody!

Is there a more beautiful love song than “Here, There And Everywhere”?

It captures the feeling of romance and love like nothing else in less than 3 minutes. How did Lennon/McCartney manage to do that time and time again?

We could call it “one of our favourite Beatles songs ever”, but we have probably said this about every Beatles cover we ever posted. But it’s true 😉

Whenever we start working on a new Beatles track we can’t help but appreciate their music on an even deeper level.

We now share our take on it with you and hope it will add some joy to your day.

Something About The Beatles – With Robert Rodriguez – Radio Interview

Let’s talk Beatles!

Right in time for the release of our two new albums MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & more Vol. 2 + 3 we’ve got something else to share with you that we think a lot of you might enjoy listening to!

We were guests on the popular podcast “Something About The Beatles” with brilliant host Robert Rodriguez from Chicago. The show is more than an hour long, and we got to talk in detail about all sorts of things, from singing jingles about cheese in our car with Dad when we were growing up, to our first (failed!) attempts at covering “The Night Before” and our opinion on the Beatles’ solo careers.

LISTEN: 2018/10/25 Nothing But Today – A Conversation with the Mona Lisa Twins

We also performed two songs acoustically, including a song off ORANGE that we’ve never published online:

Two Of Us – at minute 00:56:00In It For Love – at minute 01:12:30

We also filmed both songs and will upload the videos to the MLT Club in a few weeks (we’re still working on other projects at the moment) so look out for that! If you’re not a Club member yet and want to know how to join click here.

We highly recommend his past episodes, too. He has all sorts of interesting Beatley guests on his show and his interviewing, editing, and audio quality are superb. Big thanks also go out to Robert’s executive producer Richard Wey, who also creates the artwork for all episodes, and Trevor for helping set this up!

Why don’t you head over to Robert’s podcast website, leave a comment underneath the episode and listen to more? 🙂

For the Beatle heads among you, check out his book “Revolver – How The Beatles Re-Imagined Rock’n’Roll”! This will certainly be our Xmas holiday reading.

I’ll Follow The Sun – New Video

“And now the time has come …

… And so, my love, I must go. And though I lose a friend, In the end you will know.”
I’ll Follow The Sun – one of our favourite Beatles songs that is hugely responsible for us falling in love with their music when we were teenagers.

The song will feature on our album MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & more Vol. 2 which is available for pre-order right now! If you also join the MLT Club before the release date (28th of October) you’ll even get a free month and your copy signed!

“I’ll Follow The Sun” has always been one of our favourite melodic Beatles songs. It sounds so simple at first listen yet it’s anything but. The chords are complex, and the way the melody loops around when the verse repeats has always fascinated us. Add Paul’s sweet voice and it’s a timeless masterpiece.

We remember vividly the time, many years ago, when we were about 14 years old and riding on a bus through Austria on a group excursion with our grandparents and a whole bunch of their friends and their grandchildren. The two of us spent the entire ride in the last row listening to Beatles songs. It was at the height of our Beatle Mania phase when we were in the middle of discovering and devouring their entire back catalogue and learning all songs by heart.

“I’ll Follow The Sun” came on on our mp3 player (no iPhones back then), and we put it on repeat at least three times. Then we walked through the aisle of the bus to our grandpa, made him listen to the song, got our mp3 player back and continued our Beatles listening session while driving to some castle or museum – The Beatles seemed much more important at the time. Frankly, they still are! 😉

For some reason, it was especially important to us that our grandpa listened to that one song in particular, because we couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and just had to share that with someone. He’d never heard it before but he said he liked it so we were satisfied. Mission accomplished.

Now we hope you like our humble take on it!

We initially recorded this song a while ago for Steve from Florida, one of our biggest fans and supporters. It was a birthday surprise for him and we loved creating something that we knew would make him smile. Now he and we are excited to share it with you all!

Let us know what you think about it, please.

“Yesterday” – New Beatles cover for 50 000 YouTube Subscribers

Yesterday Thumbnail

New Beatles cover for a fab reason!

Hi Friends,

We recorded a new cover to celebrate 50 000 YouTube subscribers! To say THANK YOU we brought all other projects to a screeching halt for a couple of days and made a new video.

We didn’t pick just any old song but decided to have a go at what is believed to be the “best song of the 20th century” (BBC 2), the “Number 1 pop song of all time” (Rolling Stone) and “the world’s best song” (MTV).

… No pressure 😉 Please enjoy our rendition of “Yesterday

We reached this milestone way quicker than we thought, due to a nice little surprise on the YouTube front. Over the last week our daily views multiplied and a whole lot of new people discovered our channel. If you’re one of them – HI THERE AND WELCOME!

We were sceptical at first. A glitch in the statistics? Fake bots? Bought views by a fan? Well, turns out it was none of that but YouTube rather decided to just feature a couple of our videos really heavily on the front page to a new audience!

Why? No idea, but we ain’t complaining!

We’re still working on a couple of new videos besides “Yesterday”, so keep your eyes peeled for more content in the near future.

In the meantime, why don’t you have a look at our online store to see if anything tickles your fancy. We need to prepare some empty room on the storage shelves … just saying … shhhh … 😉

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

Mike McCartney’s thoughts on ORANGE

[tvo_shortcode id=16123]

Thank you very, very, very much Mike!

We will never forget the friendly embrace we received from Mike when we first landed in Liverpool. He didn’t have to, yet he made us feel welcome and appreciated. A fascinating man with a life story unique in every way.

PopMatters Article about MLT and Sgt. Pepper’s Friends

PopMatters article including the MonaLIsa Twins to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Sgt. Pepper's Lovely Heart Club Band".

We accidentally just came across this article about “Sgt. Pepper & his friends” and found ourselves to be mentioned in it.

Read it HERE. “Celebrating Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band with a little help from their friends; Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, Neil Young and the Mona Lisa Twins.” Now that’s some pretty good company right there 😉
If you scroll down on the article you can find even more wonderful words about our “When I’m 64” cover. Made our day!
What a wonderful way to conclude the birthday celebrations of this magical album although we’ll certainly keep playing it throughout the rest of the year.
Big thanks to PopMatters and the author Christopher!

Sgt. Pepper turns 50 – Podcast!

Mona in the rain with Sgt. Pepper Hoodie

Happy Birthday Sgt. Pepper!

Not often does the whole world go nuts over an album’s birthday but it certainly did this week. ”Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band” turned 50. It jumped back on 1# on the Official UK Charts and sent Liverpool and Beatles fans around the world into a frenzy. This Beatles album might be the single most iconic album in music history and it certainly was a reason to celebrate. Being the Beatle nuts we are, of course we joined in. Happy Birthday Sgt. Pepper!

BBC Radio Merseyside put on a show “Liverpool plays Pepper” where radio legend Billy Butler (and former Cavern DJ during Beatle Days in the 60’s) invited musicians and friends of the Beatles to tell their stories connected to the album and play some live music.
We performed “Getting Better” (00:30:15) and “She’s Leaving Home” (01:05:15) live at the studio! Listen back here (podcast only available until 1st of July 2017).

A lot of the things we’ve been working on behind the scenes are going to see the daylight soon. Keep your eyes peeled! (What an odd saying, don’t you think?) It’s getting better all the time …

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps” Reaches 1 Million Views!

Our first 1 Million views on a single video!!!

You did it! “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was meant to be our first video that reaches this crazy milestone and we couldn’t be happier. 1 Million! Recording this cover was a totally spontaneous idea we had after planning a trip to Germany. We were going to visit the Musikmesse in Frankfurt which is a huge music fair.
The ideas was to look at and test certain guitars for our future MLT sound there! We thought it seemed like a fitting, humorous idea to film the video during our trip. If someone had told us back then that this on-a-whim idea would be watched a million times, 6 years and 1 day later, we’d have laughed. Yet here we are and we’re laughing! In the best way possible 🙂

Thank you, George Harrison, for this incredible song with words that couldn’t describe the world we live in in a more poetic way.
While our guitars gently weep,

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer – New Cover Video!

Watch your back when watching our new video! No one knows what happened after the 3rd verse, so he might still be around … Maxwell swinging his Silver Hammer.

Recently we travelled back to the 60s to record “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer“, and then even further back to film the video for our version. But on the way something must have gone wrong with our time capsule cause we multiplied! Phew, from now on the stage at the Cavern Club will be even more crowded 😉

It would be great to hear your thoughts on the video, so please leave a comment … if you managed to escape death that is …

Bang! Bang!
