At the beginning of this year we started “Season 2” of our Duo Session series and have already shared a bunch of new acoustic covers with you!
As soon as we are ahead with the progress for our original album we will get back to our “Duo Session Corner” to film some more!
For today we would like to share some photos with you, all taken during the various filming sessions. We did a similar photo post a couple of years ago when we were still shooting Duo Sessions in a different location, but this new corner gives us a bit more room (although only slightly) 😉
Do you have a favourite Duo Session video so far?
Stay groovy, Mona & Lisa

Duo Sessions – they are fun to do, fun to film and fun to share.
We agree on some songs we want to do, arrange them for two guitars and vocals and then get together with Papa Rudi in our little corner set-up of the studio and turn on the cameras. Here are some pictures from the ones we did in 2019. Which one was your favourite?

Today we want to take you behind the scenes of the video for one of our favourite Beatles love songs we have covered: If I Fell.
Above you can watch the “video about the video”.
Since the actual filming was relatively straight forward, we thought we’d show you a bit more about the less flashy and more fundamental things like choosing camera angles and the editing process. It actually took a while for this video to come together. It wasn’t until we had played around with different overlays, black and white effects, and a more atmospheric approach, that we thought we did the song proud.
We hope you enjoyed this little sneak peak into the editing room. We always enjoy revisiting these “older” videos and comparing them with how we would approach filming a video like this now. Some things, like the equipment we use and the way of setting up certain shots, have changed a lot. But the workflow and experimental aspects of creating a new music video are still the same.We hope you’re all looking after yourselves today and get to spend some quality time with the people you love ♥ And that should very much include yourself 🙂
We’ll leave you now with the original “If I Fell” video and send love, love love, Mona & Lisa
It seems so long ago since we shot our video for “All I Have To Do Is Dream” during the snowiest of winters! Eight whole years ago (or a third of our lives … blimey!)! So just for the heck of it we recently went through all the things we filmed that winter and remembered just HOW white it was back in Austria.
Never in our dreams would we have thought that us goofing around in our backyard would make it onto the internet like that one day but we’re so glad we filmed it. We get snow like that in the western/alpine parts of Austria most years but to see that much in the East, where we are from, isn’t that common and normally doesn’t last very long. What’s it like where you are from? Here in the UK we had a tiny bit of snow last year which was quite exciting as it doesn’t happen every year. Has is started snowing in your part of the world yet? Or do you live south of the equator and are getting ready for the beach season? 😉
Since that song never made it on any of our albums, we wanted to give you a download version here in the MLT Club. Stay warm! ♥
This year’s Christmas cover is really special to us, even more so now that both Bing Crosby and David Bowie are gone whose bittersweet and hauntingly beautiful version we leaned on when recording our cover of “Little Drummer Boy”.
We hope you enjoy our rendition and would love to hear what you think in the comments.
Now that it’s December we think it’s fair to say that the Holiday season has officially begun. Personally, we love it! Sure, there are many, possibly valid things to be cynical about when it comes to the whole Festive Season, maybe starting with the fact that we saw the first Christmas jumpers in the shop windows the day after Halloween 😉 But all in all we still look forward to December every year. Family, music, hot chocolate and cosy jumpers are always a plus in our books 🙂
… And so, my love, I must go. And though I lose a friend, In the end you will know.” I’ll Follow The Sun – one of our favourite Beatles songs that is hugely responsible for us falling in love with their music when we were teenagers.
The song will feature on our album MonaLisa Twins play Beatles & more Vol. 2 which is available for pre-order right now! If you also join the MLT Club before the release date (28th of October) you’ll even get a free month and your copy signed!
“I’ll Follow The Sun” has always been one of our favourite melodic Beatles songs. It sounds so simple at first listen yet it’s anything but. The chords are complex, and the way the melody loops around when the verse repeats has always fascinated us. Add Paul’s sweet voice and it’s a timeless masterpiece.
We remember vividly the time, many years ago, when we were about 14 years old and riding on a bus through Austria on a group excursion with our grandparents and a whole bunch of their friends and their grandchildren. The two of us spent the entire ride in the last row listening to Beatles songs. It was at the height of our Beatle Mania phase when we were in the middle of discovering and devouring their entire back catalogue and learning all songs by heart.
“I’ll Follow The Sun” came on on our mp3 player (no iPhones back then), and we put it on repeat at least three times. Then we walked through the aisle of the bus to our grandpa, made him listen to the song, got our mp3 player back and continued our Beatles listening session while driving to some castle or museum – The Beatles seemed much more important at the time. Frankly, they still are! 😉
For some reason, it was especially important to us that our grandpa listened to that one song in particular, because we couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and just had to share that with someone. He’d never heard it before but he said he liked it so we were satisfied. Mission accomplished.
Now we hope you like our humble take on it!
We initially recorded this song a while ago for Steve from Florida, one of our biggest fans and supporters. It was a birthday surprise for him and we loved creating something that we knew would make him smile. Now he and we are excited to share it with you all!
We tend to go on about how mind blowing those numbers still are to us and how we can’t thank you enough but this time we will spare you the usual paragraph and just quietly let our heads explode in amazement and gratitude 😉
That’s the 4th video since January, with a possible two more coming before the end of the year 2018 to join the Million Club! We want to give you both songs as a free download to celebrate and to say thanks! DOWNLOAD BOTH SONGS
The Calm Before The Storm
It’s been a while since you’ve last heard from us. That’s because we’ve reached the end spurt of a rather huge project. It’s that time again where breaks get optional and food and sleep turn into necessary evils. Oh, how we love that feeling! 🙂
Our Christmas Video is here … Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!!
You can buy real fir trees and their fake companions everywhere now, high budget tear-jerking adverts are back, and it’s blasting Christmas music everywhere. The holidays are near!
We hope you are having a peaceful and jolly December and can tackle whatever life throws at you with more love and lightness 🙂
Enjoy our little contribution to this year’s celebrations and let’s make this holiday season magical!
