Our Musical Influences (Part 2) – Q&A

Digging deeper …

Today we’re answering the rest of the questions we got about our musical influences and inspirations. We tried to cover as much as we could squeeze into two videos 🙂 If you missed last week’s post, you can check out Part 1 here!

We really enjoy filming these kinds of videos so if you have any suggestions for new topics we could make a Q&A video about, please let us know in the comments below. We’ll set up another form to submit the next set of questions soon.

Hope all is well and groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. Oh yes, the White Album. I am thrilled that Mona’s Beatles “ah-ha” moment was a deep cut, “Cry Baby Cry”. I feel that way about “Sexy Sadie” and “Long Long Long”. Without a double-album, we may have been denied these hidden gems.

  2. Mona and Lisa, I am watching this for the first time. My favorite part was when you were talking about your father. The two of you were full of such love and pride. Papa Rudi is your friend, your mentor, and your colleague as well as your father. He, along with Michaela, did a wonderful job in raising you two. Best of luck in completing the album. All of us in the MLT Club are enjoying watching the process. All in all, a labor of love from the Wagner family!

  3. Did not know Tommy Emmanual, he can really play the guitar.

  4. Hi Mona and Lisa, love going through your Q and As again. Had to put on my thinking cap on for a long time, but for a future Q & A topic suggestion, how about your experiences around Live Performances?
Perhaps questions to do with your time playing at the Cavern, touring with Steve Harley, concerts in Austria, playing in Ireland, busking etc might be fun.
    ????+❤=????

  5. “Hit me- with a- question” – Anyone else have to replay that gem? Thanks for including – made me laugh.

  6. Hey this former talent coordinator and “cheesy” country music DJ….LOL..happens to think that you two girls are some of the most gifted and talented musicians that I’ve ever seen…and I haven’t really seen you except on video…why you aren’t already superstars I don’t know…you have a few really really really good originals that could and should be hits but it’s tough crossing that barrier when you haven’t had any “live” band gigs in 4 years…you gotta get out there…you should be playing major venues around the world…do your new original project and when this pandemic is over hit the road…the States will love you and I know the places in Texas that will show their appreciation….looking forward to each video of the Cavern Club and I’m still “Looking Through You” for that final Duo Session video…I thank God everyday for bringing me the MonaLisa Twins..for the entertainment and the “music of my 70 year old life”????????????????

  7. Loved hearing all of the interesting questions and your answers to them. Thank you for answering mine about American Country music. I never really thought it was your “Cup of tea,” but was curious whether you ever delved into Country music at all. To me “All About Falling in Love” sounds like what I think of as Country music. I love the song! And, I love the video. But, I love everything you do. ????
Thanks again, and Stay Groovy! ????❤

  8. Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! It’s always a lot of fun seeing and hearing you 2 interact together!

  9. Hey Mona and Lisa!

I just want to say that it’s great fun just listening to you and hearing what you have to say about anything and everything. It’s very neat seeing how you interact with each other. You are both just very likable people. Thanks so much for this type of video. It’s great to get this type of insight into your lives. Enjoy the upcoming holiday season!

  10. Thank you for the answers…..so insightful. You said you were not influenced by country music, but……….George snuck in quite a few country licks in the Beatles songs which may have influenced you indirectly……maybe not. Still I enjoyed this so much!! Mike.

  11. Thank you for this great segment. So cool to hear your answers to great questions. To me? I am influenced by you both. With the love you have for the music from the 60’s and early 70’s. This was a huge part of my life and to have you both re visit these tunes and bring them up to speed in 2020 is awesome.

  12. Thank you for your answers to my questions. They were very interesting. These two videos made us learn more about your influences. Happy weekend !!

  13. The world problems just dissolve when the Twins hang out for a chat. You make us feel that we’re sitting with you, being part of the conversation!
    Thank you!!

  14. Groovy thanks for answering my question.  I am listening to “Cry Baby” now.  Kool, I am not too familiar with the White Album and I don’t remember this song.   I’m not the biggest Beatles fan, I stand 5’10”.  They do have a pretty big library, but you have inspired me to seek out their songs that I am not so familiar with.  My teenage years were kinda post Beatles, and/or the “kool” kids were into other stuff, so my knowledge of their work is limited to radio play, and the couple of albums I have. However, I always crank it up when a Beatles Song comes on.  Who doesn’t?

Sometimes I wonder who the lucky one is, you girls or your parents. You have the koolest parents in the world, and they probably feel they have the koolest kids in the world.  And the way you both light up when you talk about them is so endearing.  It’s easy to see you are all very proud of each other. 🙂 Do they ever do the proud parent tear running down the cheek as they look through the viewfinder?

Thanks again for covering “Till There Was You” a few years ago.
    It’s beautiful.
    JP

  15. How totally sweet and educational. I just love you ladies. You’re beyond groovy!!!

  16. I would love to hear about your plans for writing and performing your own material! I enjoy so much your covers of songs I know but I have to believe that within you both is potential yet to be realized!

  17. Hello Ladies,

What a warm and inspiring Compliment to your dad, calling him Your George Martin???? George Martin was a one of a kind Producer who just knew when the Beatles hit the right magic.
The same with Rudi. I have seen him on a few occasions give a thumbs up in some behind the scenes footage of you both playing. He just knows also when its done right. How lucky for the world to have 2 George Martins, and even luckier for you two that one of them happens to be your dad. There is no better mentor that that of a parent. Again you all hit the jackpot with 2 parents. One may not be blood, but you would never know it. Michaela had and continues to be a blessing that keeps giving. Even when you didn’t know it a those years ago.
You mentioned Beach Boy songs aren’t really made for Duo Sessions, yet I can think of two.
Surfer Girl, and Don’t Worry Baby. Both very beautiful ballads. If asked if there is one over the other, it would be Surfer Girl. With its Falsettos and so tight harmonies. Wow!
FYI a Woody is a SUV type of vehicle that had wood panels on the sides and were popular with the surf crowd. It made carrying their surf boards easier. The Woody was a hatchback before hatchbacks became popular.
As far as Q&A subjects…. maybe How do you do your music writing, and come up with the sound. I know that the musical members would have a ton of questions. Perhaps A tour of instruments that most of us would not know you have. Maybe some of us would like to donate outright for a particular piece of equipment that you have your eye on. Or maybe A guitar that Each of you have an eye on. Maybe even Percussion piece.. You get the idea.. i know I would like to be part of something like that.
Thanks so much for these Q& As. They are great.
    Just some ideas..

  18. That was much enjoyable, thanks. Beach Boys Petsounds is a great album indeed. Sloop John B or wouldn’t it Be Nice would be suggestions if you decide to do a Beach Boys song one day. Stay groovy!

    1. I would love to hear Mona & Lisa cover ‘Wouldn’t it be nice’. Such a great song with a great beat. I hope they cover Barbara Ann someday! I love this song!

  19. Thank you for being Groovy gals
